Stephen A: it takes a team to win a super bowl Stephen A: 2 minutes earlier said "Eli" missed the playoffs 10 out of 16 seasons Can't make this stuff up.
Sean F this is such an underrated comment. As a packer fan this man beat us twice to get to the super bowl. We had Hall of Fame quarterbacks both times. Eli deserves to be in the hall of fame for sure!
He is basically saying Eli was the constant for the Giants in his career and 2 outlier seasons shouldn't be enough to get into the HOF. That's SAS point anyway.
Keenan Nash that might be what he meant but this is a common thing people say about Eli. HE had X amount of seasons missing the playoffs but the TEAM won 2 Superbowls.
"He's not gonna break out of the pocket and make a sexy throw." Yeah I mean I guess. Except for in 2007 on 4th down to basically win the super bowl against the undefeated Patriots.
So, when a guy scores 17 and 21 points against a team that just averaged over 35 points per game for an entire season, he's the MVP? Please explain. If even an average Brady shows up, those scores are blowouts.
@@tomknapp6194 The defense made Brady below average in those games. Brady didn't play poorly, because of a slump, he played poorly because of the elite defenses.
@@blueballedtech You mean the "elite defense" that gave up 45, 35, 31, 41, and 38 points in the regular season? Yeah, think about that for a minute. Seriously, in 5 of 16 games, they gave up a MINIMUM of 31 points. I do not see how that qualifies as an elite defense. In the post season, they basically gifted Eli a SB MVP, but most of the time, they were terrible. Oh, yeah, and 4 of those 5 games were against teams that didn't score more than 20 points against the Giants in the playoffs.... And that makes Eli a superstar? I've been waiting over a decade for someone to realistically explain this to me.
Giants holding onto their wins against the patriots as if it still matters. Since then they pray they even win the division. And their division is the weakest! From that time til now. Patriots have won multiple superbowls. 🤣
2 Super Bowl MVPs? He's absolutely a Hall of Famer. Do people forget how great he was, especially in the 2011-12 playoffs where he was the clutchest QB in the league
We "forget how great he was" because he was mediocre or worse WAY MORE TIMES than he was "great" And we know those SB MVPs were given to him. He played okay, and had two magical passes at the end of the games. His D kept the best offense in NFL history at the time (07 Pats) to 14 points. I'm sure ALOT of teams would win SBs with that kind of defensive performance. Just ask 2016 Peyton, who's D owned everyone that year.
@@goldenkizaru1560 I couldn't agree more. Eli didn't do much against Brady who destroyed the league in the regular season, yet Eli gets credit for the win. I have yet to find a NYG fan that can properly explain this to me. It has been years that I have been asking.........
@@joejoemartinez6059 At first glance, it looks like Eli was the MVP of both SBs. Until you realize that the defense held the Patriots to 23 and 18 points below their season averages..... And Eli still barely won. Eli literally played 8 straight playoff teams that were 6-23 points below their season average and still barely managed to win. If all those games were played and those teams just had their average scores, Eli wins 1 game. By less than 1 point. And those are the facts. Eli was a below average QB carried by the defense.
Bro Aikman is in so should Eli. He only won 1 less Super Bowl than Aikman. And his stats destroy Aikman. And Aikman definitely belongs in the Hall. So does Manning.

Lol. So Rivers played great during those post season games?? Eli has a higher passer rating than Rivers during the post season. Rivers is not a big game qb. He got smoked in Foxboro last season.
Kevin Lamont dak will have better stats then Eli if he keeps on track. I would have dak as my QB then Eli heck If Super Bowls means everything so Joe Flacco a HOF?
PullupintheG G35 joe only got 1 ring but no ones says he’s going be a HOF cuz he doesn’t deserve it. I think Eli gets a lot credit cuz if he’s last name
Those 2 seasons were the best offensive seasons of Tom Brady's career and the defense shut him down. Sacks, tackles for loss and they held Moss to just 62 yards.
@@TheCruzan26 That's why Super Bowl MVP awards are a complete joke and shouldn't be considered when evaluating a player's career. The award almost always goes to the QB of the winning team unless a RB or WR has insane numbers. That wasn't going to happen for those Giant teams built on great defense.
SAS, it doesnt matter how he got it done, the fact is he got it done. he got his rings by beating the GOAT Brady TWICE, which was a team effort, which he played his part. He may not be a 1st ballot HOFer but he is a HOFer nonetheless. this man just can't admit when he's wrong. Dak hasnt won a super bowl as of right now, yet alone sniff the NFC championship game
PrinceH8907 how is he wrong when you didn’t say anything he said was wrong? Name one lie he told on Eli please. Eli Manning never lead the league in anything but turnovers 3 times , and he leads the league in total turnovers since coming into the league in 2004
Eli’s not a hall of famer, when most have to even think about it you already have your answer. Eli’s defense won them both of those superbowls, and other playoff games also have an affect, just like Brady’s game vs the eagles he lost but still had a great game, or Rodgers losing in the playoffs he still had great games despite the losing effort. Those games I wouldn’t say give you a boost but they show your not going out without a full fight. Eli doesn’t have that

Eli Manning will never be forgotten. I think that in of itself means he’s a a hall of famer. He’s played a huge part in the nfls history. Also defeated the undefeated patriots(Tom brady the GOAT after it’s all said and done.” Not to add his longevity. And the miracle moments in those super bowls. He’s a hall of famer
Being a Cowboys fan since Staubach and I can honestly say that I'm sorry to have seen Eli retired. He was terrible. He's literally worse than QBs like Tannehill, Cutler, and Mayfield. And I don't see anyone saying those guys belong in the HoF.
he kinda has to get in from a standpoint of his historic significance to football, it's impossible to tell the history of football without mentioning eli manning because he lead one of the nfl's most important franchises (in the biggest city in america) to 2 superbowls as the mvp of both
AND went head to head with the GOAT twice and beat him both times in the only game that stat-whores like to talk about when their backs are against the wall and can't say that another player's stats aren't good enough, i.e. "Okay, but how many rings does he have? I rEsT mY cAsE."
That actually false. Go check his 2007 Superbowl run. Let's just take GB Eli 21-40 251 0tds 0ints Farve 19-35 236 2tds 2ints Farves last int ended the game as the Packers were driving for the win. The defense and running game (2 running backs totals 130yds 2tds) won the game.
Tashan Ty Taylor lol nice job pointing out one game in -12 degree weather where if you watched the game(obviously you didn’t) you would know he threw it extremely well
joe chrow No but winning 2 Super Bowls and 2 Super Bowl MVP’s should. This is a moronic debate. QB’s play to be great you can’t be great without winning championships. Numbers are garbage in some he’s great and others he’s not good but those don’t define his career it’s stupid to think otherwise.
Top 10 all time in passing yards, completions, and passing touchdowns with HOF players both above and below his current spots. Add 4 pro bowls, 2 rings, and 2 super bowl MVPs and there's NO QUESTION HE'S A HOF. And l say that as a cowboys fan. It's not a personality contest. Or popularity poll or some pageant where voters pick who they "feel" is the most congenial or something. Get out your feelings, give the man his gold jacket, and move on.
Are you sure about that? I'm not asking about his totals, but he is a HoF candidate. Think carefully because I have FACTS that will destroy everything that you have posted. And you are no Cowboys fan if you think he belongs in the HoF.
@@AAAA-nv5cf No problem. Facts are eternal. Top 10 all time in yards, completion, and TDs? That really sounds great doesn't it? In fact, at the end of 2018, I took the draft class of 2004 and they (Eli, Rothlisberger, and Rivers) were all 6th, 7th, and 8th all time for yards and TDs. Yards: BR 56194 RM 55981 (-213) PR 54656 (-1538) TDs: PR 374 BR 363 (-11) EM 360 (-14) Yep, in a very closely knit group since they all played 15 years at the time. But, let's take in consideration one more stat. No, no interceptions. Yes, we all know how that would end. No, let's factor in attempts. Attempts: EM 7972 BR 7168 (-804) PR 7000 (-972) Now, we get to the heart of the matter. Eli needed 804 more attempts to have fewer yards and fewer TDs than BR and 974 more attempts to not have as many TDs and slightly more yards. That is nearly two more full seasons worth of attempts to not even have their totals. More perspective: Once you figure out his yards/attempt and TDs per attempt, he is no longer top 10 all time. In fact, he falls to: Yards/attempt: #91 (Tied with : Andy Dalton, Brian Griese, and BEHIND: Jay Cutler, Derek Carr, Marc Bulger, Chad Pennington, Matthew Stafford, Carson Palmer, Ryan Tannehill, Baker Mayfield, Daunte Culpupper, and Trent Green) TDs/attempt: #72 (Tied with: Andy Dalton, Carson Wendz, and BEHIND: Jay Cutler Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Daunte Culpepper, Baker Mayfield, Jameis Winston) Basically behind or tied with a bunch of guys that no one would remotely think of putting in the HoF. 4 Pro bowls? That's a good point for 16 years? Geez, Romo had 4 pro bowl (and a second string all pro) in only 8 complete years. Never an MVP. In fact, never in consideration for it. Sure, he was nominated in 2011, but just because he was in the playoffs. Other non-playoff QBs had better a better season. In fact, he was never even the best QB in the NFC East. 2 Rings? He was literally carried by the defense. In 2007, Romo, Favre, and Brady (All QBs that destroyed the Giants defense in the regular season to an average of 35 points per game) were all having one of their worst games of the year (averaged 17 points in the playoffs) and Eli still needed multiple lucky plays to pull out a win. Same thing in 2011 vs Packers (although not a close game that one time) and Brady again. Please tell me how that makes Eli an MVP. Someone on the defense should have received it. Ever re-watch the 2007 season SB? In the six plays leading up the the "Helmet Catch", Eli tried to give the game away in 5 of 6 plays. Two high and incompletes into double coverage (Aikman even comments that he lucky to still have the ball), a drastically underthrown 3rd down that could have easily converted. Jacobs bails the Giants out by Inches. Eli scrambles and caught from behind, fumbling the ball, and recovering between his legs. Then an uncontested dropped interception. That was the MVP?!?!??! BTW, the are his only good points and now I have shown how they really aren't. So, while the push to put him in the Hall is over in this conversation, I haven't even begun to warm up? Want some more? BTW, before coming back and tell me how stupid or hating I am, please show me where I'm wrong. This is nothing but 100% fact. If it sounds like hate to you, then you are just in denial. The facts show that Eli was lucky and should never be in the Hall of Fame.

If between Peyton and Eli, I would take Eli when........ Well, never. Peyton is almost 2x the QB that Eli is. Eli was lucky and luck runs out. And that's the bottom line.
@Risner France Garces What did Eli do to earn those MVPs? Two lucky plays and led the Giants to 17 and 21 points vs a team that just averaged 35 points per game. The true MVP was the defense. Eli just benefited. So, yes, he was lucky. But, let's really drive the lucky point home. What did Favre, Brady, and Romo (x2) do to the Giants defense in the 2007 regular season? An average of 38 points. And then in the playoffs, none of them had over 20 and that was because of Eli? Please explain. In fact, Eli has never beaten a playoff team that scored more than 20 points. So, once again, yes he was lucky.
@Risner France Garces I guess you haven't watched the NFL like I have for the last 45 years. All it takes is one bad break to bounce a team from the playoffs. Eli literally had multiple lucky breaks each game to barely win against QBs that were having one of their worst games of the year. Does that sounds like a HoF QB to you? And you do realize that Eli has been to the playoffs more than 2007 and 2011, right? Let's summarize those two "SB runs". 4 playoffs, 4 games, 4 losses, 3 crushing defeats, 1 shutout, a combined 3 TDs (less than 1 per game), 7 ints (almost 2 per game), 1 game over 169 yards, and a 54 passer rating. You do remember those years also, right?
2 Rings, 8th in all time passing TDs, 8th in all time pass YDS, 6th in all time completions, most 4th quarter comebacks all time in a single season, the BEST QB in GIANTS franchise history and not a HOF? please sit down...

He isn't first ballad but surely a HOF career. Not too many QBs out there saying they got 2 rings ESPECIALLY against Tom Brady and Bill Bellicheck. Wont go down as the most accurate or strongest arm, but seriously CLASSIC super bowl moments came from this man.
@Andy Bailey I can't find one with two super bowl MVPs and no MVPs but here are a few guys I think are comparable to Eli. Len Dawson who was a QB into the mid 70s. He had several afl Championships was a super bowl mvp went to a pro bowl and was an afl mvp and he wasn't a first ballot hall of famer. Bob Griese who was a 2 time super bowl champ 6 time pro bowler and a league mvp who played into the 80s and he wasn't a first ballot hall of famer. Kurt Warner who was a super bowl mvp 2 time league mvp and 4 time pro bowler and he wasn't a first ballot hall of famer. I'm not saying Eli shouldn't be in the hall of fame I'm just saying that his 2 super bowl MVPs and 4 pro bowls put him in the company of people like Warner Griese and Dawson. I'd say he's a step up from Dawson and Griese and a step below Terry Bradshaw and Kurt Warner. He'll Otto Graham wasn't a first ballot hall of famer and he did more for football then most of these guys I mentioned.
What about the other 232 games he had in which he was basically marginally better than a backup QB? Don't base his worthiness to be in the Hall on less than 4% of his career.
I’m not even a giants fan but I know Eli deserves being in the hall of fame. It doesn’t matter how he got it done, he got it done. That’s all that matters.
I wasn’t totally sold before I saw your comment but now it really makes sense. He got it done. If you’re a team you can’t really get much more success and longevity with any other qb then they did with him
Statistically, he is NOT a HOF'er. 116-116 record 60% completion rate 362 TD to 241 INT (1.5/1 ratio) 241 YPG 84.1 QB rating For comparison's sake... Tony Romo's career stats: 65% completion rate 78-49 record 248 TD to 117 INT (2.1/1 ratio) 254 YPG (if you don't count 2016 where he played 1 game as a back up and passed 29 yards) 97 QB rating The difference in the conversation is that Eli was an iron man and won the super bowl (albeit twice). The first year they won they ended a Patriots run that seemed impossible. Which was impressive. But he didn't light it up... The defense shut down, what might have been, the greatest offence in NFL history. In 2007 they won 4 playoff games, yes 3 were on the road. But, Eli's completion percentage was 60% and he averaged 214 YPG. Not impressive. In 2011 they won 4 playoff games. Eli's completion percentage was 65% and he averaged 305 YPG. That is a way better post season! But it was THE only one he ever had. The other 4 years he made the playoffs, he lost the first game they played!! 6 playoff runs in 16 years is rough. He has had 5 losing records in 16 years (not counting year 1 and this current year). He has finished 8-8 twice and 9-7 twice. Leaving him only 5 good season of 10 or more wins. Best stats: 12 wins (2008) - exited first round of the playoffs 387 completions (2015) 66% completion rate (2018) 35 TD's (2015) 8 years of 15+ INT's 308 YPG (2011) 93.6 QB rating (2015) If you combine all of those stats that makes 1 good year. But those are over the course of a career. To me, HOF means consistency. Other than reliability, Eli was not consistent. He is/was an above average talent who made enough good plays at the right time to win the super bowl. Respect for ending an 18-0 season. Respect for beating them again in 2011. But HOF means best of the best. He was good. NOT great.
But if you stack his resume up against QBs who have made the HoF, they would be better than a lot of them. Why did Joe nameth make the HoF? One super bowl run, where he predicted that his team would pull off the upset and did it. Outside of that? He has more interceptions than TDS and completion % is hovering around 50%. Is Joe Nameth not a HoF?
TheJumpman319 but Namath played in a different era a running game era Eli was there during the semi passing and running game era. When comparing one should compare against QB of their own era. Like put his numbers and winning against River and Rothlesberger...to me he will make the HOF but he will always be the guy where everyone is 50/50 on it.
@@TheJumpman319 I 100% agree with this statement. Joe Namath does not belong in there either with his doodoo numbers. The only thing Namath had going for him, is the fact that, until Marino (ish), the league was all about running backs. So the QB's job, in that era, was to convert 3rd downs and not blow the game. Namath succeeded at that. Poor numbers but in the 60's that was considered elite.
@@srikargarapati7353 I agree. When looking at Eli I'm thinking was he a top tier QB in his era under current the rules? The answer is no. He was never a top five QB and was arguably barely top 10. Being in the 67% of QB's is not good enough IMO.
I remember seeing Eli in his prime. Hands down deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He helped lead this franchise to 2 super bowls in under 2 decades. Some football teams haven't seen a super bowl in 40 years. In my eyes, Eli(and of course, his brother), are legends.
You do realize that those SB runs make up less than 4% of his otherwise average career. Which is the true Eli? The one in those 8 games or the one in the other 226 games? And even in those 8 games, he wasn't that great.
@@tomknapp6194 I think you may have forgotten just how important the role of a QB is in the League. Do you think Eli leaned back on his heels in those 2 Super Bowl-winning years or the years before and between? No. It takes a leader to bring a team's success, good game or bad game; win or lose. What we don't see are the many pre-game preparation speeches that Eli gave to his team to ensure that they were on the same page; offense, *and* defense. We people don't understand is that it takes a special individual to lead his team to a Super Bowl appearance, let alone win it. Eli's brother Peyton only won 50% of his SB appearances, and may I remind you that Eli beat the Patriots.... *twice.* And not only that, but he also got MVP in one of those. No, Eli may not be at the same level as Drew Brees or Tom Brady, but he is definitely a HOFer. In his prime, he *was* an elite, because he was still a *leader.* Guys could tune in to that leadership and help contribute to the team knowing that Eli would lead them to success, and maybe a Super Bowl win. If we put QBs in the Hall who have great stats but never won anything, we need to put in QBs who have good stats but won multiple rings as well. There's an integrity to the game that needs to be honored. As Herm Edwards famously said, "You play to win the game." If we put in perpetual losers and chokes in the Hall but not someone like Eli Manning, we're doing a disservice to what football is really about. Actually, his name is Elisha Nelson Manning. Yes, Elisha. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that you really don't know how bad he truly was if you can't even get his name right.
I think Eli Manning should be an example for future hall of fame quarterbacks. Right now it seems like HoF contention is based heavily on career stats and records. But when you go in depth on the career of Eli Manning you will find a guy who was extremely tough and competitive and clutch and many traits that coaches would love to have for their franchise but those won’t show up on the stats sheet. Maybe the iron man stat will be there but if everybody could truly see these types of things then Eli would be an easy first ballot candidate imo
This shouldn’t even be a question ( Cowboys fan) Eli should definitely be in the HOF .... in the same draft class as Big Ben and Philip rivers he’s second best qb
Lol dude has only led the league in one category during his career...INTs and was never even a top 5 QB in the league during any year that he played. If you put mediocre players like this into the HOF you open up flood gates for all 💩 players like flacco and rivers etc.
*If "Troy Aikman" is in the hall of fame Eli should be. *Eli stop a team from being "PERFECT" *Troy had perhaps the top 10 WR and RB of all time and also stood behind the greatest O-Line of all time. *Eli never had the talent Aikman did. Eli also Defeated perhaps the 2nd best NFL team ever in the superbowl. The 2007 Patriots.
Actually everything he said is complete horseshit. Because he is just a hater. He did not in anyway take anything into historical context. Take a look at some of the quarterbacks in the Hall of Fame. So many of them have inferior resumes to one Eli Manning. But Eli does not deserve to be in? Yes he does. Joe Namath For example literally made an entire life out of guaranteeing and winning one football game in the Super Bowl. The rest of his career was garbage. He’s in the Hall of Fame.
More great playoff runs than half of the HOFers currently enshrined in Canton. For example, I'm a Bears fan so Urlacher comes to mind. Great player, leader, HOFer...0 SB wins. The whole reason players are paid as much as they are is to take to the field and win a championship no matter the sport. The reason why players like Brian Urlacher and Dan Marino played at such a high level for so long was to get to and win the Super Bowl. You can't tell me that any HOFer who hadn't won a Super Bowl wouldn't trade their stats for even ONE ring.
@@camaro2390 And I would NEVER say that Eli is better than Marino. He is not. But when you look at his fellow QB's in the HOF, this argument against Eli is silly. Players without his longevity, without his rings, made the hall as QB's. There is no rational argument to keep Eli out. You have a much harder time making the case he is not worthy. 2 rings, 2 Superbowl MVP Awards, 15 years missed no starts, 350 plus TD's, 50 thousand pass yards. No HOF? Huh??
crossing sports for a bit DISCLAIMER: I am a Dodgers fan. If Kershaw can be considered an all time great with just his shear stats alone, but without a title and ZERO clutch gene, Eli Manning should be considered a Hall of Famer QB for winning 2 Superbowls and having a clutch gene. Im not saying he was top at any category of what makes a great QB. Hes not the most clutch, hes not the most efficient passer but i am saying that he has 2 rings and thats more than some Hall of Famers. you see, if you can be Dan Marino and not win a superbowl but be great and be inducted; you should be able to be Eli Manning with mediocre stats but have two clutch Superbowl rings that you helped propel your team to. The inverse has to be true. his stats werent great but he was still great. Even if it was just for a few moments
He’ll either be the “weakest” entry in the HOF, or the biggest snub. He did lead the league in picks 3 times. He also has the playoff record for passing yards & has 2 of the most “Cinderella” runs in the Super Bowl era.
I agree they put all these other quarterbacks above him but he's beat them when it was said he couldn't I remember those runs to the superbowl I remember he broke hearts but it seems like this moron stephen a smith wasn't watching the same games
Ummm there will be no scrutiny Aaron Rodgers is a no-brainer Hall of famer. He's been an elite player for pretty much his entire career and was the focal point of this team every year. He broke a former Hall of famers records of the very guy he replaced. I'm not even a Green Bay Packers but this is clear to any football.
Damon Brown they didn’t state none of that , use the same formula they used and see what you get . Oh yea how many rings he got? Max come get ya plate grandma calling you 🤣
@@sharkbaite3836 they use that formula for Eli Manning because he has nothing on his resume other than those two super bowl wins. Aaron Rodgers on the other hand has been a consistent winner. At no point in Eli's career was he ever considered elite meanwhile in Rogers has been elite for pretty much the entirety of his career and it's finally seeing a decline. But from an individual standpoint Aaron Rodgers has accomplished a lot. Aaron Rodgers has always been surrounded by mediocracy. That's the only real reason he doesn't have six rings himself.
Damon Brown head to head Eli outplayed that man outplayed favre outplayed Brady twice when it matters I’m your man talk to Eli nice 👍 that’s a helluva resume Rodgers cannot day the same he’s basically iverson, fun to watch scores a lot easy on the eyes but has not won , always a bridesmaid never a bride
I’m a Patriots fan, but I think Eli deserves the HOF, simply put. As a football fan, I’d be happy with 2 Super Bowl wins to brag about, even with all the disappointment in the years. Some teams have been consistent winners, without a Super Bowl win.
To those that bring up Eli’s career record take in mind what that record would be if the giants could actually draft well lol. Also joe Namath is in the hall of fame and he threw more picks than touchdowns. Idc about career record. 2 rings against the greatest coach of all time. Nearly passed for 5k yards in 2011... those 2 playoff runs were insanely legendary
I think the way Max and Victor break it down, you have to put Eli Manning in the Hall of Fame. When he was at his best he came through with two super bowl MVP and super bowls and he beat three of the best quarterbacks to play the game. Many quarterbacks could not get it done when it counted or in crunch time, so Eli Manning would be a big winner here and that carry a lot of weight in my opinion. In some of those 10 years he did not make playoffs he really did not have good teams but when you gave him a reasonable good team he won superbowls with it so he should be in the Hall of Fame.
Amazing Daniel Jones might miss the rest of the season. At least two or three games. That’s more games than Eli Manning missed in 15 years. He never missed a game. The longevity is insane.
@@ChillHandle12 Yes, I did and Eli was not impressive. Through the 2007 and 2011 playoffs, the Giants defense gave up an average of 15.1 points/game, none over 20 points, and an opposing passer rating of 74. What QB can't beat that? Well, Eli almost didn't. The Giants won 5/8 games 4 points or less, mostly on lucky last second plays that didn't even involve Eli. And 2 of them were overtime games in which Eli was a combined 3/7, 17 yards, 1 sack for -10 yards, so 7 attempts for 7 yards. And he literally did NOTHING on the game winning drives because they started inside the 30 on turnovers. But, the stats give him 2 game winning drives when the only attempt he made on the "game winning drives" was incomplete. Eli has been the beneficiary of some great headlines. Too bad almost all of them are half truths at best and sometimes outright lies.
@@tomknapp6194 not impressive you’re kidding me right? It’s obviously you didn’t sit down and watch those games, hence why stats are your best friend. Tom Brady had a lot of playoff games where you could say that he played average or mediocre in, but he made the important players when it mattered. At the end of the day, it’s a team sport, a good defense is great. You’ll still need an offense that can score you some points. 07 giants faced a lot of adversity throughout the season. Week 17, the last game of the season, they went up against the undefeated patriots, and they lost 38-35. That game proved something through, Eli manning can play great even if his defense wasn’t playing their best. Even though they lost, that came was foreshadowing of the team they can be.
Steven A, Cut the shitS Mane! What kinda weeeeeeeeeeeeduh, are yeeeew Smokin’? Give’em his credit where its due! Not a Giants fan or Eli, but he Did his thing a bit!
He isn’t even close to a first ballot, but in 20years he will get in. His bill will be longevity (game started, toughness) and magic in the two Super Bowls.
Eli didn’t have the team he had a bad o-line and just pretty ok receivers and then 2014 and 2015 came in which are his best season numbers and in 2011 he had a great season with almost 5,000 yards and was 1 td away from 30 tds even in 2008 he was good
Here’s an oversimplified, barbershop argument: if you can’t tell the history of said sport without said player’s heroics. Sports are about stories. Eli Manning beating Tom Brady twice-you can’t tell the story of the NFL without it.
Should Eli Manning be a Hall of Famer?

Top 10 all time in yards, completion, and TDs? That really sounds great doesn't it? In fact, at the end of 2018, I took the draft class of 2004 and they (Eli, Rothlisberger, and Rivers) were all 6th, 7th, and 8th all time for yards and TDs.
Yards:
BR 56194
RM 55981 (-213)
PR 54656 (-1538)
TDs:
PR 374
BR 363 (-11)
EM 360 (-14)
Yep, in a very closely knit group since they all played 15 years at the time. But, let's take in consideration one more stat. No, no interceptions. Yes, we all know how that would end. No, let's factor in attempts.
Attempts:
EM 7972
BR 7168 (-804)
PR 7000 (-972)
Now, we get to the heart of the matter. In fact, he falls to:
Yards/attempt: #91 (Tied with : Andy Dalton, Brian Griese, and BEHIND: Jay Cutler, Derek Carr, Marc Bulger, Chad Pennington, Matthew Stafford, Carson Palmer, Ryan Tannehill, Baker Mayfield, Daunte Culpupper, and Trent Green)
TDs/attempt: #72 (Tied with: Andy Dalton, Carson Wendz, and BEHIND: Jay Cutler Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Daunte Culpepper, Baker Mayfield, Jameis Winston)
Basically behind or tied with a bunch of guys that no one would remotely think of putting in the HoF.
Eli literally went through 2007 and 2011 because opposing QBs were having one of their worst games of the year. Those would be the Cowboys, Packers, Patriots, Packers (again), and Patriots (again). If even an average QB for those teams show up, almost every one of those wins would be a blowout. Those teams were literally averaging at least 28 points per game for an entire season and then none of them score more than 20 and that is because of Eli? Please explain.

Not a Giants fan at all but I see Eli as a Hall of Famer. Those 2 Super Bowl runs was legendary.
116-116 record
60% completion rate
362 TD to 241 INT (1.5/1 ratio)
241 YPG
84.1 QB rating
For comparison's sake...
Tony Romo's career stats:
65% completion rate
78-49 record
248 TD to 117 INT (2.1/1 ratio)
254 YPG (if you don't count 2016 where he played 1 game as a back up and passed 29 yards)
97 QB rating
The difference in the conversation is that Eli was an iron man and won the super bowl (albeit twice).
Best stats:
12 wins (2008) - exited first round of the playoffs
387 completions (2015)
66% completion rate (2018)
35 TD's (2015)
8 years of 15+ INT's
308 YPG (2011)
93.6 QB rating (2015)
If you combine all of those stats that makes 1 good year.
I grew up being a fan of the Giants for a time. It's just my opinion from what I saw.
@@gseric4721 Do you realize that in 2007 with 1:30 to go in the game, Eli had a 72 passer rating against a guy that just averaged 117 over 16 games and Eli still needed a lucky play to win the game. 10 years later, I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how that wins him the MVP. How was he still in the game? It was the defense, but being on the defense isn't as sexy as being the QB. Eli didn't deserve either MVP. It should have gone to someone on the defense.
@@tomknapp6194 Did they still win against a heavily favored Patriots team? Yes. Did they win it as a team. Definitely. Eli might not have deserved getting the MVP, but you better believe he credited it to all of his teammates.
@@gseric4721 Eli literally never beat a playoff team that scored more than 20 points. Even when those same teams in the regular season scored 45, 31, 35, 38, 27, and 37 points. 8 straight playoff teams scoring 6-23 points below their season average and Eli still needed lucky last second plays for a win. If all those game were played again and the opposition just scored their average from the regular season, Eli goes 1-8, beating Tampa Bay by less than a point.
It was the defense that did all the heavy lifting. Holding those 8 teams to an average of 16 points. Seriously, what QB cannot beat that?

I'l preface this by saying I'm a die-hard Redskins fan... It's not like the guy was a slouch, he was a 4x Pro Bowler who has 57,000 passing yards and 366 touchdowns. He beat Tom Brady twice in Super Bowls. In those combine 4 losses, he had 3 TDs, 7 ints, a 55 passer rating, and 1 game over 169 yards. Don't say he makes a difference without looking at the whole picture.

SAS stated it correctly: nice carreer with two great playoff runs.
@@camaro2390
And I would NEVER say that Eli is better than Marino. No HOF? Huh??
@@dbreiden83080 I completely agree, this entire argument against Eli being in the HOF breaks down into cherry picking stats that fit their narrative.

you see, if you can be Dan Marino and not win a superbowl but be great and be inducted; you should be able to be Eli Manning with mediocre stats but have two clutch Superbowl rings that you helped propel your team to. Michael Wilkie Bret farve
What playoff passing yards record does he have over Brady?
charlieakateddy passing yards in a single post season, (I should have been more specific). His 2011 SB run he threw for 1200-ish yards.
Kinda empty record when he's playing 4 games from the Wildcard round I'm guessing but fair enough.
Lol weakest entry??? Are you nuts? You see your comment is an opinion. The record books are facts. Fact > opinion.

Joe Namath shouldn't be in the HOF also... lots of NFL HOFers carreers defined by "moments" or "few seasons".
TEN SECONDS ARE ALL YOU NEED TO WATCH 👏🏾👏🏾
I think the way Max and Victor break it down, you have to put Eli Manning in the Hall of Fame. When he was at his best he came through with two super bowl MVP and super bowls and he beat three of the best quarterbacks to play the game. Many quarterbacks could not get it done when it counted or in crunch time, so Eli Manning would be a big winner here and that carry a lot of weight in my opinion. In some of those 10 years he did not make playoffs he really did not have good teams but when you gave him a reasonable good team he won superbowls with it so he should be in the Hall of Fame.
HOF Lock..His name is Manning he played in NY. The Mecca of sports broadcasting. He’s in
Steven a "The Moments Matter" Smith.... Or so I thought.
He is HOF based off the fact that he started 222 straight games
That stat definitely says a lot - especially since he looks like the kid that was bullied in school everyday.
Amazing
Daniel Jones might miss the rest of the season. At least two or three games. That’s more games than Eli Manning missed in 15 years. He never missed a game. The longevity is insane.
116-116 is 132 games
there's only 10 super bowls per decade. 32 starting quarterbacks in the league. manning has 2 rings. that equals hall of fame.
I’m not a giants fan but he was super clutch in 2011 taking a 9-7 team to win the Super Bowl was incredible
Did you even watch those games? Eli had very little to do with it. The defense carried him.
@@tomknapp6194 you didn’t watch those games
Too bad almost all of them are half truths at best and sometimes outright lies.

not impressive you’re kidding me right?
When y’all say “without a doubt” or “no debate” that’s when y’all loose me
when you cant spell "lose" thats when you lose me
@@duprebushnell2488 When you spell "can't" without an apostrophe, that's when you lose me.
KING JAY UNO loose=not right. Lose is the word you are looking for
You look like you lost yourself on your way to preschool
Steven A, Cut the shitS Mane! What kinda weeeeeeeeeeeeduh, are yeeeew Smokin’? Give’em his credit where its due! Not a Giants fan or Eli, but he Did his thing a bit!
Stephen A. not even paying attention when the others do their take. Can't even face it when his foolish takes get ripped. Disrespectful.
At least Max listens.
GG 6 he is on his phone checking texts and things probably getting information he thinks he can use on the show.
He isn’t even close to a first ballot, but in 20years he will get in. His bill will be longevity (game started, toughness) and magic in the two Super Bowls.
So his stats are make believe?
Eli didn’t have the team he had a bad o-line and just pretty ok receivers and then 2014 and 2015 came in which are his best season numbers and in 2011 he had a great season with almost 5,000 yards and was 1 td away from 30 tds even in 2008 he was good
Here’s an oversimplified, barbershop argument: if you can’t tell the history of said sport without said player’s heroics. Sports are about stories. Eli Manning beating Tom Brady twice-you can’t tell the story of the NFL without it.
Like you said, oversimplified. Thank god you’re not on the ballot
A.R. Smith My point was to oversimplify it. There are statistics that bode well for Eli Manning getting in, but I wanted to make a layman’s argument.
