There are two alternating drummers in Vulfpeck and both are technically very skilled having gone to The University of Michigan’s School of Music.
I have a feeling Theo (the one who drums and sings on the song in this video) would be best fitted for metal, but then again, both are very much focused on funk and playing in the pocket/groove.
It would be interesting tho, as metal drumming varies so much from all other forms of drumming despite the influence that goes both ways.

I'm a massive Vulfpeck fan and been a drummer for 14 years, and that was a good take in my opinion! Yeah he may have played too loud for the low volume funk that Vulfpeck is, but it was very groovy, the ride cymbal part he did was amazing, very creative and he didn't overplay it, no massive fills or double bass here. Kudos to him! I also used to play a lot of metal, so i know how different it is to Funk.

I had not heard of Eloy or Sepultura before this video, but I'm a huge Vulf fan. I enjoyed this immensely!
As a percussionist, I understand the feeling of tearing myself down when I've felt that didn't immediately nail a groove, as Eloy playfully mentions a few times here. But he was a very thoughtful interpreter, and was able to tune into subtle elements without any hints. Knowing to keep that 16th note feel on the HH throughout. Building gradually through the pre-chorus and the bridge. Adding half-measure fills right before the hits. Even deducing hits as hits. (It was also just cool to hear fills and ornamentations that move around the kit a little more than on a typical Vulf song.)
I really respect Eloy's musicianship & his ability to cater to the song regardless of his background! This is a great series to demonstrate these exercises, and to prove that polarities don't always have to interfere with the integrity between a piece and its player. Thanks for this video!

Eloy just completed a masterclass world tour, I went to see him in Belgium and man... this guy's unbelievable talent is matched by his awesome personality only. What a cool dude. He even made fun of me (twice!) because I asked him if he used the ankle technique for his sick double bass skills. Needless to say he couldn't care less about what he uses, so long as it works :) Loved every minute of it, both on and off the drums.

Just see Kiko, from Angra originally: Megadeth is bigger, richer and has more fans, but Kiko had more creative freedom, he was mixing different styles, composing crazy stuff... what World Class would mean for the musician? If it is all about a bigger band, he can play for Taylor Swift.
