This dude is literally Animal in human form
And Animal was the muppet personification of Bonham. Tosh is bringing big Bonham energy.
THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY!!!
He is Donnie from the Thornberrys all grown up
Animal 🎉My thought exactly 😱👍
First thing I thought. Unreal.
It's like he plays on the edge of chaos the whole time but never falls in. I freaking loved that.
neat way of saying it and I agree with you 100% !! These videos are why i love coming back to see everyone's style and personality behind that.
Well said, Great!
This is the best description of his playing!
You hit the nail on the head. It was so frikkin captivating, I couldn’t stop watching. Also felt like I was watching a genius at work.
My son is 4, and been watching him on repeat for a few days. I’m loving it. Best description.
I'll say it again, this is THE BEST MUSICAL SERIES ON THE INTERNET! Never stop making these. I find new artists, I find drummers to support, I find new bands to listen to. This Is what we never knew we needed. I'd love 2 or 3 of these a week!
I was thinking the same and got sad at the thought of them not having any drummers left to invite on 😂
For more like this, there's a great channel called Blind Covers that gives a band just the lyrics to a song they don't know, and 1 hour to write and record a cover of it. Different vibe cause the music's all new, not just the drum part, but always fun to see the different directions bands go in. They've been on hiatus for a few years but if people watch their older stuff, I hope they'll record more.
totally agree, I could watch these forever.
by far
Yes I agree. It is the perfect combination of enjoyment and music content. Im not even a drummer. I do music but this stuff makes me wanna become a drummer. I discovered this format yesterday and Im binging all old videos of this format now haha.
It is perfection.
What an incredible player. I had no idea who he was but man, he absolutely crushed this, and the energy is perfect for the era.
your comment was high up for me so im piggybacking to say the 350 people that disliked this did it by accident cause they rocked out so hard
Had zero idea who Tosh was before this. Now I am a massive fan. Drumeo bringing music to the masses again
MASSES ??? 👀👀👀 salute comrade
same here, new name for me, what an amazing drummer indeed
Same here!
Dude was born on the wrong decade, he got those psychedelic chops.
same, just started to follow him, great drummer
His energy while playing is just something else
I like to see him work on some dynamics, you cant play everything at 10.
And he’s so soft spoken lol.
No
I had to make sure the video wasn't speed up haahhha
If time machines were real, I'd love to see a drum-off between Tosh and Keith Moon. The energy of those dudes would be so epic together ❤
One of the best drumeo performances yet. Hands down
Absolutely. This guy is an animal - his technique is primal. I got that same energy seeing Chad on his episode, that there is an energy inside both of them that can only be expressed through percussion.
@@meluczindahmchenry2209 Also so here for the massively supporting Dad living his own music through his son. Vibes on vibes
Tosh is a 70's drummer born in 2001, it's amazing
Tosh Peterson is the human embodiment of Animal from the muppets. Keep crushing it dude! Amazing job!!!
That be Bill Ward from Black Sabbath . For real check him out.
Isn't Animal supposed to be based on Keith Moon? So that's some accolade 🤘🏻
No its Tommy Aldridge
Kinda travis barker and also Dave grohl
@@familyengineering5591 He looks like Bill Ward ! Watch Sabbath at the California Jam .
This guy did one of the best jobs I have seen any drummer do on this channel
Disagree totally
By far the best it's almost as if this is the actual version. Majority just seem winged
The legend Morgan Ågren would be a great guest to invite and play this game. He's super versatile and has a really creative and unique approach to music. Tons of "feel". @MORGANAGRENmusic. ruclips.net/video/nFi24wCKrPU/видео.html
I dunno, the feel is too different, as someone who heard this track like a million times, I can't get over this difference
@albertdavila6808 I agree with you. The keyboards have a beautiful percussion feel and that should of been his first clue. Why play a pounding "80s" type beat, when the music is swinging/moving??? I don't get it. Anyway, his fills were mostly great and double kick parts were obviously fine. And it's almost absired that he can't figure out who the band is just by hearing the voice and keyboards. I know it's not Purples most popular track, but still should be able to figure out who it is. But such is life
Goose bumps, that final take was full gas.
He picked up the song so freaking fast, including the hits.
At the beginning, seeing his kit setup, it felt like he had things spaced so far apart, but then once he started playing it made all the sense in the world. What a wild energetic flailing style of playing, and yet it never fully leaves the feeling of control. Pretty sick awesome and unique drumming style!
he also has pretty long arms and legs, a tighter kit would just get him all tangled up
He’s a really energetic drummer who plays like he’s a wild bear released from an exterior of a teddy bear. He’s insanely talented. Going to keep my eye out for him.
This kid was BORN to play in a punk band! Amazing chops, energy and execution. Just another masterpiece by Drumeo and kudos to Tosh for an incredible performance.
I would bet money he grew up on the Travis Barker, Pop-punk school of drumming.
But as a punk and a drummer at about the same age, and someone who's dealt with chronic pain (and now a very recent back surgery from scoliosis that I most definitely inherited), I almost wish I just picked a different instrument that wasn't so physical. I know you don't need to move like that to play well, but it's intimidating when you see people who can just keep going like that every day.
For real. His energy is amazing
@scottwrathfon9872 ...Travis is trash, this guy is awesome! Drummer myself!
And yet all the artists he's played with are the drizzling shits haha. He's probably the only talent on the stage when he plays with them
@@michaelkeller5927its probably because Barker discovered him and got him the gigs with these artists cause barker produces for them
I love watching people discover Deep Purple for the first time. It's amazing how energetic and vital Paicey's parts still sound after 50 years. I really like what this guy does with them, too.
Ian Paice is an undisputed legend and his swing feel is absolute killer. I hope he comes to Drumeo one day!
I never listened to them before. Now I put them on my list!
Paice is simply a category himself. Had been interesting to use You fool no one.
I do not know how people that call themselves rockers don't know Ian Paice.
@@coppersnare wow that would be beyond awesome!!
That final take was mind blowing 🤯
Insanely impressive fill at 5:49. Good god he's a solid drummer! Love his enthisuasm for the whole thing. I wanna pay attention to this dude's career!
I love this dude's mentality and energy! A drummer to inspire not only the new gen of drummers but also the older ones!
what ?this drummer inspired you?what?
Exactly what I was thinking!
True that. Nicely put.. Utilizes the whole spectrum of the kit. Bravo nice job.
I can see why he gets work, his energy is just infectious. Just a joy to watch this one.
Yes, it looks funny, but listening to it is a complete mess.
Never heard of him. Won’t forget him. Big props.
I'm not a drummer, but these are so amazing and fun to watch. I'm a huge fan of this series.
Chad Smiths “The Kill” video is what got me to buy a drum set and Larnell Lewis playing “Enter Sandman” is what made me learn how to play that song first. I love this channel!
Enter the sandman lmao
@@MitsubishiLancerEvo Yeah, he typed a title wrong, now his whole effort is worthless... get lost.
@@DagarCoHCalm down sensitive. He’s just laughing at the typo not his entire post.
Right on, man!
@@MitsubishiLancerEvo fixed it
Had no clue who this kid was but some serious chops and an insane ability to chart a tune in his brain. Mostly though it looks like he’s having the time of his life playing drums, which is the most important thing.
Great comment you said what I was gonna say. I'm an old dude drummer but the fluidity of the kids nowadays YIKES
Josh Eppard is one of the good ones, my dude!
It's mesmerizing to see someone who is extremely talented at what they do doing what they love.
Classic song from absolute giant of a band, and this kid comes in and lays down the hurt. Loved this one, best episode of this series so far in my opinion. Loved his version.
5:52 Proud dad moment
so cute :)
When I saw that he didn't know Deep Purple, I thought, "Man, who doesn't know Deep Purple?" When he played, I thought, "I'm glad he didn't know them. He gave it a new sound just as good as the original!" Congratulations!
Yeah, his track was a great fit (with allowances for the fact that it was only a second take of an unfamiliar song with no chart!$
I was like you.... slightly disappointed about it, but, I changed my mind after I heard his approach ... I feel he delivered better than the original, full of energy, and he needs to listen more to those bands, I will say to his dad... time to bring old vinyl for him to listen
Yes, he played great. It's a shame that the other three don't make it into his drum line.
No one under 40 knows who deep purple is dude
@@wtls000hey, I’m only 39
"Fireball" should be this guys new nickname! Insane!
Bro took “hi” hat too literally lol that thing is damn near at his head haha I love it
Bro.. that was literally the first thing I saw 😂😂
He’s a badass, but I was thinking the same thing, and his kit is so spaced out right???
I used to play in church band with Tosh some years ago, glad he’s doing well.
That guy in a church band? Must have been different kind of experience all together :D
I see they decided to leave the demon in him alone and not exorcise it
I'm guessing the church band was much more mellow...
I'm surprised about the fact that he dares to put his feet in a church. That buddy has fire running in his veins
Y’all have never played in church bands much 😅. This totally tracks with some of the people I’ve played with over the years.
Talented, humble, loves his dad- loved every second of this.
How does this series keep getting better?! This is amazing. Thank you, Drumeo.
I saw Tosh drumming for Filter the other night in Brisbane and was super impressed. He just looked like he was having so much fun!
Really loved the different feel he gave to Filter's songs during that Brisbane set. Quality drumming and a great gig.
This kid is insane! Such tight playing with no hesitation even on a completely new song.
he isn't at all tight, he is sloppy as fuck
This might be the best of the series. His energy is insane
agree, this was pretty amazing very quickly into the episode - 1st take, wow
chad smith definitely the best one
Drumeo is an institution that I hope survives forever. I dont play drums but whenever I have a drink or two, this is where I go to enjoy music. This kid is awesome. Love the channel!
A+. Wow! The technical ability of this incredible drummer is inspirational.
I grew up watching his dad "Stoner" who played in a local band, Standing Hawthorne who all went to my high school in Orange County. Their guitar play most recently toured with Keifer Sutherlands band. So cool to see his son kill it.
Gotta be honest...never heard of Tosh Peterson (or many of the artists he's played with), and I'm not much of a Deep Purple fan, but this video is amazing. This is a cool track, and Tosh approaches it with incredible energy. Kudos to Drumeo! These videos are so much fun to watch.
This deserves so many more likes. My god man you destroyed that. Incredible skill. I’m blown away fr
Both variations sounded great! He played the heck outta’ both.
It’s refreshing to watch DRUMEO do this. I love watching the GenZ play music I used to listen to.
Not gonna lie, when I heard who he drummed with/for I sort of wrote him off, but holly nuts, he threw down! I’m sold! That was 10/10.
Sa,e here. God malt,of those bands are terrible. Lol. But he is awesome.
Can't blame a drummer for getting work where it's available and where it pays
@@kalebgates7711 not my fave artists but im sure he gets PAID
Those are absolutely massive bands with huge crowds though. They need musicians who are reliable and consistent. So it's not surprising that this guy would be very talented, since he has a good enough reputation to have played with some of the biggest artists of the last few years.
Exactly, Sophie Lloyd also caught flack for playing with MGK, but a gig's a gig. @@kalebgates7711
Technical and feel, and a total showman. No wonder he gets the touring gigs with such big artists! Awesome display of loving what you do
I have watched this at least 10 times, something about his sound mixed with that old groove is mesmerizing
omg...this guy is incredible! That energy and the motions alone are a sight to behold!
Hes got so much confidence in his drumming its incredible. If i had a band and were in need of a drummer one hour before a gig, id trust him, to nail it. Not a single beat feels off.
This series of videos is one of the best things on RUclips
Dude gave the song new life...absolutely brilliant!
This is the first time I’ve not known the song either and it makes this even better! I love this series and love this song, can’t believe I’ve never heard it or of this drummer. He’s a beast!!!
I'm a big Deep Purple fan and this guy is great for the first time hearing it. Rock on.
Show more of the drummer's reaction to the original recordings please.
Sure
I love this guys drumming and attitude. Humble, but meanwhile killing it in drums.
These kind of videos show how much the drummer has an influence on a song.
Keep it up Drumeo ❤
He's amazing. Love his energy so much.
My wife and I saw Tosh at our first FOB concert in Virginia Beach last year. Although we were bummed that Andy couldn’t make it, Tosh brought an infectious energy that made us glad we were there that night. So fun to follow him now. So talented and entertaining!
the energy this guy has is insane. its just free flowing.
I don't play drums much anymore, but I love this series. These pros earn every cent they make. The best of them have such a winning combo of enthusiasm, goofiness and professionalism.
Holy crap. Never heard of this dude and he is absolutely brilliant. Insane energy and feel. 🤯
Tosh a beast. He has his dad with him with this kind of gig that made me have a teary eyes. Love it !
This was so inspiring to watch. I’m not a musician-just a fan-but it’s clear we’re seeing an incredible talent here. Not only is his musicality on point, but he brings so much energy and flare to his performance. I’m not surprised that he stays booked and busy!
For all the rockists in here demeaning the work he does for hip hop artists-the best musicians of all time ALWAYS have a deep love and respect for a range of genres. It’s telling that all of the great drummers featured on this channel have a wide range of influences from Motown to funk to disco. The people complaining in the comments are demonstrating exactly why they’ll never understand what makes great music and great musicians-you can’t truly appreciate music without appreciating what makes good music regardless of genre.
I mean you can tell he's listened to some music from that era. Ginger Baker for sure. Like you could have told me that was Ginger playing that and I'd have believed it, or not doubted too much.
Well said
Limiting your genre appreciation is one of the best ways to limit your potential as an artist.
It's important to keep an open mind so you can learn new techniques and innovations that you can then employ in your own craft.
been binging drumeo for about an hour now, been the best hour ive spent all week
This drummer made me shed a tear of joy for the first time in this whole series. What a great performance ❤
I'm not a drummer like many others here but for one thing I'm grateful that when watching these videos I have great pleasure for meeting these crazy talented guys. Before drumeo there were only vocalists and guitarists. Now I know some of the most skilled drummers in the world.
For me it's kind of fascinating new world. Don't stop making these videos.
Holy dang, Tosh is one hell of a beast! One of my favorite performances from this series so far!
This just makes me Happy! What a great watch/listen
from intro to outro this guy is a legend
This is the best one I’ve seen yet, incredible job. The lead in solo to finding the beat perfectly had my jaw on the floor, and on the FIRST take! Crazy good
I was lucky enough to meet Ian, Ian & Roger in 2007, when my buddy opened for Deep Purple. Ian is a Phenomenal Drummer! Tosh did an excellent job with this!👍
Wow..Tosh..watching you play that song..fix..u're now my favourite drummer🎉
I would love to just be chillin on the couch watching this go down. For any of these drummers. This whole concept is pure gold with endless possibilities. Much love everyone
What an amazing talent. I've got a new drum inspiration to start following. I've heard a lot of Tosh's work without realizing it. Unbelievably accurate, nails the feel of each moment of a song and of course has breathtaking skill to nail it all in time with a ton of technical flair.
Man, this was so awesome! What a dad and son moment too. How proud you must be dude, absolutely nailed that, made it his own and made it sound like the original. Superb man, awesome job 🙌🏻
I can never get over how good Tosh is. I've been playing drums for a whole 15 months. Doing what he did here seems literally impossible to me. Fantastic, fantastic job, Tosh!
Geez Tosh is an absolute beast. Please bring this guy back and make more content
What an addictive drumming style to watch 🤟🏻
Ok. After hearing the ppl he's played with and then him going absolutely nuts. Bravo 🤘
One of the best Drumeo’s ever. And I’ve never even heard of this kid. Awesome job!!
I absolutely love his drumming on this song.
Serious question for actual drum people, complete layman here.... is this dude widely regarded as one of the best in his generation if not ever? This was this most smooth and effortless "First Time" video I've ever seen. He not only absolutely killed it but he really fit the voice of the song if that makes sense, it felt so authentic. Definitely about to dive down a rabbit hole.
Nope. Most people don't know who he is. But he absolutely rocked this.
I remember playing a show with this guy about 4 years ago in a backyard in Brea, CA. He was in a ska band and it was obvious he had a special talent. Stay on the up Tosh
Ska drummers are some technically focused players. Travis barker, a former aquabat, is the best member in blink and I dislike their music.
@@alejandroramirez4470 I love blink but I totally agree. Apparently Ska is the best musical base haha
BEAST. I've been following the "fist time" series and OMG this dude KILL IT in his first attempt without hesitation. By far one of the best of the series.
He wasn’t close but still spot on Lol. He brought an energy to it that drove the song harder. Amazing.
Please never stop making videos like this! Best thing on YT! I love hearing other people's takes on songs they never heard of!
What an insane player! One of the better Drumeo videos, he nailed that!
The intro to Fireball is my favorite drum intro of all time.... and how the hell did he not know this song being a drummer.
What a nice, genuine soul. Being sweet and humble is underrated. Well done dad
Love this guys energy. He is attacking it with such ferocity and keeps a great groove at the same time.
This is the first time this dude has come onto my radar. He's a fuckin animal
That double kick at the end is fire
I love this series on drumeo.. I keep coming back to this performance! Tosh killed this!
Such a natural!!! Absolutely mind-blowing!!! You are un-matched Tosh!!!
Well, I am not the biggest Purple fan (but I respect their importance and legacy) and I had no idea who Tosh Peterson is before this video, but Drumeo content so let's see it and hoho boi :) This Young Man has pure energy and passion, the intro, the half-times and the bridge, all epic and made me comeback to this video many times :) Thanks Drumeo for introducing amazing drummers to the World and thanks for Tosh for his amazing take on this song :)
He was great, but one thing I've noticed from a lot of drummers is they go hard out all the time. What made Iain Paice so amazing as a drummer was he knew when to go crazy on a fill, but also when to keep things minimal. And he made it look easy all the time.
It really clicked for me on the Liberty DeVitto episode when he said the drummer for the Deftones was playing for the recording, and not really doing the live performance drummer thing and showing off. In the studio with the other musicians and a producer you’ll get more dynamics and blending. And more rest notes 😂
THANK YOU DRUMEO. REALLY APPRECIATE THIS. IT MOTIVATES ME BIG TIME
Wow I think he’s my favorite drummer I’ve seen on this show and that says a lot because they’re all great
To everyone comlaining that he's "too generic" "he has no substance" "he only played for no ones", "he can't be a drummer and never have heard of Deep Purple" you're all just fucking boomers.
This guy killed it, he has a lot more skill than a lot of famous drummers, not everyone has to hear a set of bands to be a great musician. And if you think that his performance is generic, you're just stuck in the nostalgia circle jerk of thinking that everyone in the past was better and the new things are bad. Learn to enjoy life and have some fun and try to appreciate the things of the present instead of only revolving in the past before you go to sleep on a box. Life's too short to be so bitter about everything except what your parents showed you when you were little
this concept is the best, makes you feel songs in way diffrent way, great work everyone involved
This guy brings it. Entertaining. Amazing player
whoa what energy that young man puts into his playing! i was grinning through the whole thing watching and listennig to him.. great stuff :-)
I am always so entertained with these first times. So very cool!
Blown away! I’m a retired schoolteacher. That’s an A all day long! Brilliant energy ❤
I LOVE this guys energy. What a massive inspiration wowowow
