Marella Voyager 1 Week Mediterranean Cruise (Part 3)

- It’s the conclusion of my Marella Voyager 1 Week Mediterranean Cruise (Part 3)! In this episode we have an extra Sea Day as our port of call into St Raphael is cancelled and we head straight for one of our favourite cities, Barcelona! We have an evening out with tapas and beer! On our second day in Barcelona it also happens to be our 11th wedding anniversary! We head to Parc Guell, La Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, Las Ramblas and the port area, all independently - no excursions here and we’ll show you how to make the most of this fab city! Back on board we head to Kora La for our anniversary meal but so we end the cruise on a high? I then talk you through / show the disembarkation process, transfers to the airport and the flight home to London in spite of last minute change of aircraft and delays. And of course, those all important reflections of the week. Would Maffoo cruise on Voyager again? What about me?

Happy anniversary to you and Mafoo 🎉🍾
@@elainehirst thank you 😊
Happy Anniversary Jamie and #Maffoo! Thank you both for taking us along - looks like you had a great week - I'm now seriously considering a cruise - you've nearly converted me!
What did you think about the difference between the drink packages?
@@gerrykeatings1309 we didn’t need the premium
Happy wedding anniversary, I’m a bit late but early for the next one 😍Loved watching this series and was quite interesting watching it back to back with your Marella Discovery series, the 2 ships are different and the food offerings too. I thought the spa day/week pass was excellent value and would definitely try that. Loved the unexpected overnighter in BCN, such a cool city and no matter how many times you visit, it’s still amazing. Thank You Jamie 👏
Barcelona is a firm fav of ours ❤️
Thank you Jamie & of course Mathew. You do this so well, just perfect. Can't stand a boring walk around ❤❤
You’re very welcome ☺️
Maffoo is very cheeky, love his personality
❤️❤️❤️
Brilliant vlog! We're going there in 4 weeks, so was great to have an insight. ❤
Have a great cruise!
Congratulations on your anniversary! Thank you Jesus 😇
And thank YOU 🙏
I am new to your channel and I love you both ❤️ You have given a great review of the ship and the whole experience. It helps the rest of us to make a decision if the holiday is suitable for us. Oh how I love it when you call out the ‘over opinionated miseries’ 😂😂
Good for you! I have now subscribed ❤️
Thank you and welcome onboard
We love Barcelona and when we stayed pre cruise many years ago we also enjoyed Tapa Tapa after having a more authentic tapas experience the day before. Last month we disembarked Celebrity Reflection in Barcelona and saw TT in the distance and relieved the memory!
We love our dark alley ways in Barcelona for tapas (that wasn’t supposed to sound so dodgy)! Tapa tapa absolutely stellar though
Hi Jamie
Wife and I were on the Voyager the previous week to you and we weren't impressed. Cold food warm wine and poor service. Not good enough, get your act together Voyager. Our previous cruise was Marella Discovery and we loved it.
Gosh, same experience as us!!
Wishing you the best on your 11th wedding anniversary.
Ventura cruise for the first time 12 days ago.back now it was my first, I enjoyed it.
Many thanks to the captain and crew. All the staff were good and the food was good.
Good value for money.will travel again.venturaxxxxx five star.
Thank you 🙏

Have really enjoyed this series Jamie, thank you 😃
And thank YOU 😊
Thanks so much for these videos. We are doing our first ever cruise in June, round the Med on the Voyager, and this has been super informative and helpful. Very excited now!
Have fun!
Really enjoyed your 3 videos and your views on Voyager. I'm gong on her 5th Oct 24 and will be going on some of your recommended trips. Thank you so much for doing these videos as it really does help some of us make choices. Keep up the great work x
Thank you and have a great time
Dear Matthew & Jamie, just binged watched all the recent Marella vlogs. Thank you both so much, great to see and so entertaining. Great memories of Thomson, Marella cruises, and the ports for us ! Your summarising thoughts are honest as ever. 👏. Belated happy anniversary wishes 🎉
Thanks so much for your support!
Another great vlog. But there was me thinking that the bench in Littlehampton was the longest in the world!!
Oh littlehampton… I have the worst memories of that place lol
Happy Anniversary to both of you! 🎉❤
Thank you 🙏
Happy anniversary! Thanks for showing us the Gaudi sights...they looks stunning and I would love to do those tours. The food on board doesn't look great which is a shame as that's one of the main draws of a holiday for us...keep them coming Jamie x
Well our last meal was lovely (apart from
The desserts!)
I have never gone on a cruise, but great, consistent food and a warm pool would be crucial to booking.
Exactly
Booked on the Voyager Mediterranean Medley for May ‘24. Never been on a cruise before and hoping issues are sorted but we’re
still looking forward to it. The tips and info is great for us to see and hear in advance of our maiden cruise, which we are hoping to enjoy and maybe book a very special one for 2025 and our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, yep, we survived lotsa years together 😊❤🎉
Congratulations 🥳
Went on Voyager in June, it was excellent. We’ve been on at least a dozen cruises with Marella all of them great. Hoping to go on Voyager again next year.
PS no odours lol
It really put us off tbh!
Great blog we were on Voyager last June her second cruise I think your views are pretty spot on , the summer house was our go too place we never managed the squid and anchor as it was always rammed so was flutes, but I put that down to the ship being at full capacity, I would go on her again as long as it was the right itinerary, also we never got to st Raphael I think that needs to be addressed.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks Richard
You’ve just reminded me I have to get an anniversary card too! 😂 enjoyed watching this series as it’s cold and rainy here.
Oh yes don’t forget that card!!!
Glad you and Maffoo had a good anniversary. The park looked absolutely beautiful. Your anniversary meal looked delish but don't know if I'd fancy the green tea dessert. The cheesecake Maffoo had didn't look very appealing with it being grey in colour. Don't know if I would cruise on this ship as the sewage smell would put me off but I did like the size of the cabin.
Alas we won’t be back in a hurry!
Thanks for the Voyager series, we very much enjoyed it. I must say I'm not sure whether to try this ship now. While I understand that "blockages" do happen, I would draw the line at areas of the ship that constantly smell of sewage for the entirety of the voyage(r)! Oh well, here's hoping that they resolve their smelly problem and sort out the inconsistency issues with the service, food and cocktails.
We won’t be rushing back I’m afraid
Hello , glad to be joining you today. Love traveling with you , even if it's by vlogs
Thanks for being here ❤
Well - been thinking about Marella...as a change from MSC; enjoyed this week with you, thanks (Happy A. !), & will be looking out for a Marella cruise in '24. Much appreciated !
Awesome news
Hope had a great anniversary … another very good blog … keep well and soon be your Xmas cruise having completed Amsterdam 🍹👍.
It’s all Happening isn’t it?!
Really enjoyed your review. Very balanced and quirky! On the back of the three vids we've booked Voyager for June!
Hope you have a great cruise!
Many congratulations ❤❤
🙏🙏🙏
Happy anniversary To you both lovely guys ❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you 🙏
Enjoyed watching this series and happy anniversary! My mum and I cruised on Marella Explorer back in October around the Adriatic and thoroughly enjoyed it! We noticed a sewage smell around the Lounge Bar but it never seemed to put people off going there as it was always packed in an evening! We would definitely do another Marella cruise in the future.
It was a shame that so many areas smelled so much - not a ship we will rush back to
Happy anniversary fellers. we have tried Voyager and for us we will stick to the two Discovery ships and explorer2 cos we love Marella.
👍👍👍
Happy belated anniversary ❤
🙏🙏🙏
Great vlogs 👏🏼 we sailed on voyager June/July 23, and have booked again for this year. Loved it (obvs as rebooked). Agree there were inconsistencies of food and service in the main dining room, but we had a superb meal in Silver Fork. Assume it’s being improved now as all other vlogs I’ve seen now are saying how good the food is. I’ll report back after Sept’ trip! We go prem’ on drinks as my wife doesn’t drink hardly and likes the tinned coke etc, and I love a good whisky so that works for us. How did yours work out £ wise with the added drinks?
Tip I’ve seen suggested is taking the carafe down/up to the kitchen to fill up with wine for an evening! 🥂Keep up the good work sir 👏🏼
We spent less on drinks than the upgrade cost would have been. Port heavy itinerary meant less time for us knowing board drinking. But if more sea days / prices went up a little, premium better for us in terms of what we like to drink
Wonderful thank you thonking of going next week
Have fun!
Great video Jamie! I'm so glad I didn't choose Voyager for my first Marella experience. I personally find lack of consistency very irritating and who needs a warm white wine???
So it's a big NO from me however cheap it might be.
I'm just hoping I have a better experience on Discovery 2 in March.
We won’t be back in a hurry it seems! I’m with you - a lack of consistency doesn’t make for an enjoyable experience
We experienced very much the same as you on Voyager, the sewage smell as you pointed out was really bad in September. Happy Anniversary both.
It’s disappointing - our poorest Marella cruise unfortunately
Hi Jamie, great set of 3 vlogs, did it work out cheaper without the drinks upgrade? Just wondering because we are with them in February and pondering.😎
It worked out marginally cheaper for us - we’d probably get it the next time mainly for the coffee port cocktails and coffees
Happy anniversary
🙏🙏🙏
Happy Anniversary! Make sure you post the video/picture of your surprise when you find a new Tesla Model 3 on your property with a bow on top. The card message: 'Nobody Does It Better!' 🚗
😮
Happy Anniversary to you both xx enjoy your break ❤
Thank you ❤️
Happy Anniversary guys x
Thank you 🙏
Happy anniversary to you both.
Thank youuuy 🙏🙏🙏
Happy Anniversary. Sad that there was no consistency in the drinks/bars. So many of the older ships seem to have lost their "experience"; bartenders to plumbers.
.
😩
Another great, honest review of your cruise and ship. I'm disappointed that the Voyager didn't live up to expectations, but you haven't said anything that others have also complained about. I've booked already for next Sept and will just go with the flow and hope that some of these issues are sorted..(I doubt it knowing TUI). Even as it's our first cruise, I'm going to try to enjoy it. Fingers crossed.
Still enjoyed the cruise overall but it needs done attention! Hope you Enjoy!
Its Marella so trust me you will have a fabulous time and afterwards maybe book a cruise on a discovery ship for an even better experiance.
See and read our vlog on Voyager, don't worry you won't be disappointed.
On it in 10 mins many thanks.@@leeandjancruise
We sailed on voyager on its second outing and we had a great time, (jr suite). Was it 100% perfect, no. But we had a great time and would happily book again.
Sailing on the Voyager out of Barbados Feb 24, and now regretting the fact we didn’t book P&O which was the original plan. This is our 4th Marella cruise having sailed on both Discovery and Explorer, really hoping now that the issue’s you have highlighted have been sorted 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I know some folk absolutely loooove Voyager in spite of a few hiccups - I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine 🥂🥂🥂
@@robertohare3658 lol ‘the truth’
Thanks for the extra input, having read my initial statement how wrong was I, we’re actually embarking on the 11th February DOH! anyway I’m now getting in the holiday mood with 4 weeks to go, so whatever comes our way we can handle it. Jamie if you are still on here we are looking for suggestions / ideas of things to do? Am I right in believing you visited a hotel on one of the islands and spent a day there enjoying their facilities?
Loved watching this cruise, thinking of booking for October...
We like a drink or 5... do you recommend booking the premium drinks package or not? Cheers 😀
Only if the drinks you like are on the premium! Depends what you like (you can make the decision when you board and look at the menus)
🎉🎉🎉
❤️❤️❤️
Great video. Can I ask where your green shades are from? 😎
They are from Superdry
@@TravelBlogJamie they’re nice. 👍
When you are in the restaurant in Barcelona, do you order your food to the waiter in Spanish? As I know you are fluent x
Yes, always
Love your videos💜 ignore the haters 🥰
I ignore them I’m so much as I slag them off but take no notice of them
Shame to hear about the levels of consistency. Has it put you off Marella or just this ship? We recently did Explorer 2 and very happy to say it was consistently excellent .
Having done 5 cruises with them the last few years I feel we need a break
Think I stay with P&O,
Barcelona looked great x
One of our fav cities!
Ours too, know our way round better than we do our home town
Loved this blog but would love to know if you felt you should have upgraded the drinks package to premium or if you were better off paying as you go?
Oh I say nearer the end that we saved marginally by not upgrading even though we paid extras for espresso martinis and iced coffee on and off
The show was Ab Fab. Jennifer Saunders lived in my home town and married Adrian in one of our local churches
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for a great series Jamie. I started part 1 really wanting to do a marella, in fact the same cruise - flying just two hours to Mallorca is very enticing. But I am a little unsure about it after your little roundup! Warm wine is not the way, I wonder if because it is all inc. they don’t always feel the need to make an effort with the way they serve drinks, which isn’t acceptable really.
You mentioned you were going to sum up the added extra bevvies you did have to pay for to see if the premium package would have been worthwhile, what was the outcome? Be interested to know 😘
Yes indeed - I mentioned how we spent just Inder the extra for the premium - pretty negligible but in hindsight we would have been better off with the premium given the kind of drinks we prefer
@@TravelBlogJamie oh I am sorry, I must have missed that bit!! Yeah sounds negligible, I guess you would have used it more had you actually had the prem package.
@@charlottegrant4367 exactly this
As for the the warm white wine I would ask for a cold replacement but sewage smell is the last thing I want when I'm hoping for fresh sea air on a cruise. Obviously the crew know of this problem and it needs to be sorted. I will avoid this ship.
👍
What house is this with roof top bar
It was part of the museum / Gaudi house
Thanks, 9 weeks to go to my voyager cruise
What's your favourite Marella ship?
I don’t have a favourite! They all have pros
I knew you must have got told of for thanking Jesus. One minute Jesus is being thanked all over the place, the next, he’s nowhere to be seen! 🤣🤣 I’d be more inclined to say it more. And I’d throw in a ‘Jesus, Mary and the wee baby donkey’ for good measure. 🤣💚
Oh actually he’s already back, you just haven’t seen those blogs yet 😉
@@TravelBlogJamie I’m all up to date I’ll have you know. 😉 You obviously slipped Jesus in your back door and I missed him!
@@mazzaw859 noooo i mean the Blogs that have been completed and scheduled for release!
@@TravelBlogJamie I see! They don’t call me lightening for nothing. 🤣🤣🤣
@@mazzaw859 they absolutely don’t lol 😆
Not really selling marella 😂
Honesty prevails
@@TravelBlogJamie indeed it does 😊
I'd be very hacked off to queue for the Barcelona shuttle bus having been specifically informed cards were taken only to find it was cash when boarding 🙁 The bus operator is obviously a tax dodger.
Well it’s a port run shuttle so hopefully not!!
Were you doused with water from water guns by the locals (who do not want the tourists) chanting "Go home"?
No
Bao buns - no Thankyou 🤢
I don’t like them as a rule but these were good
