So Jan August must have listened to this version of "Miserlou" in 1946 (in/around Eastern Arabia) which inspired him to produce his version which has evolved to what we have now in Pulp Fiction. Amazing. Amazing
No, Dick Dale probably knew this from his Lebanese background, not the Jan August recording. Jan August probably knew the Greek 1927 rembetiko version. But please check out the Pandit Korla version too. And this version is probably closer to the original Effendi Ibrahim version since he was an oud player.
No matter how will you seethe and cope, this is a Greek song only and nothing else. The fact we Greeks every time we put you in the map since antiquity, is astonishing.
This is the best version i've ever heard hands down
i agree!
Love it, thank you !
Just received my first oud for my birthday. There was only one song that I thought of. You guys show me what I can work towards!
Love it ! Well done, both ! I played it at 1.25x and sounded great (to me)
Best oud version

so many versions and they are all lovely!
Delightful version with lots of feel to it
This is beautiful. Now I can’t decide which version I like best; this one or the more famous Dick Dale cover from 1962.
Lovely music. Thanks
