Sawmill Platform - Framing and planking the deck

- We continue on with our wood shed build framing and laying boards for the sawmill and kiln side. Lori stained the wood with some old stain we had picked up for free to try and help protect it from moisture.
The back wall was framed and just needs to be lifted and put in place. Like most of our projects, before we can continue on we need to get more logs and mill more boards.

NGL When Cody said "I can build stairs" and your replied about not having stairs had me laughing. Yall are coming along nicely up there. Hard to believe what you have made in such a short time. I have kids your age and would kill for them to have 1-10th of the drive you 2 have! So for what its worth over the internet, in the comment section, I am Very proud of you 2!
I remember when you first started building your house you didn’t even have a nail gun and were pounding every nail in with a hammer! Gradually you two are coming along and building a beautiful life together.
Your baby is beautiful.
Great video! Next time considering using a roller with a 1" nap for the staining. You could knock it out in about 30 minutes, especially with an extention pole. Did my whole deck this way in about an hour, railings included.
Sure been a wet week again ..... Was that it for summer??? Spring and early summer was awesome considering last year was wet every dang day. Keep it going i love watching other local like minded people and their progress.
What a fabulous design! Beautiful work!! Rowan is growing fast! 💜😊
P rety baby. 😂 Looks likes like you are have a good start on your sawmill.
Enjoy watching ya’ll
Great video, getting lots done, except the interruption from the hungry birds. 😄😄
Great job building the deck for the sawmill
I think your sawmill platform looks great😊... Little Rowan looks so cute❤❤❤.. Thank you for sharing this with us 🎉🎉
I love watching you guys build .❤ Look forward to your videos week after week.
The baby is growing. So adorable 🙂
Wow. You guys sure work hard. I great watching it all come together. You're baby looks so content on the sawmill platform deck.
Your moving right along. Looking good. The baby is really growing. So cute. Thanks for sharing✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️
Oh no, we have to wait a week for the next video, i could watch one everyday
Another excellent video. With that can-do attitude, y'all will have it done before before the first snow. Rowan will be running around before long.
Great video Cody and Lori
Ooh I love this video. I get to see Rowan❤️. Cody can do anything. I like his style - he improvises. Please wear protective gear. You don’t want nails causing injury. I’m terrified of nail guns! You drop it, you don’t want that tool going off targeting your body.
This video got interrupted by the news of the attempted assassination on Trump. Praying for him and the victim’s family. What is our world coming to! 🇦🇺 fan
You kids are fun to watch. Keep up the good work.😀
Ohhh fudge....a cliff hanger. Did you get the wall up????
Your property is so beautiful. Have a good week
For a sawmill the platform doesn’t has to be perfect. It’s a great start to have a legit sawmill lol. ✌️
Well done you two the deck looks good and it's nice to see you both having fun them little birds 🐦🐦 were so lovely I too also feed the wildlife in my garden and I love seeing rowan she's so big and so pretty she's daddies girl.sitting on the deck in her little chair ya know it won't be long till she's running around that beautiful land of yours take care 👍👋❤
What in the Disney princess did I just watch with the birds? 😂
You take your time and have patience, which was my issue in life. Had to get things done right away. Rushed. I see what patience can do. Nice deck.
I love watching you 2 build new things. Looking good.
Awesome teamwork. Love you sharing beautiful Rowan watching her grow. That building will be a game changer.
Will you have room for your amazing workbench you built.
Great job painting Lori
Another great video left as a cliffhanger
You guy’s do great work together. Looking forward to watching next week. Progress is coming right along
Thanks,great work guys. ✌🏻👊🏼
Ty for sharing your journey and your family with all of us. An inspiration to many to get working on providing a better way of life for all of you.
Awe bless her, she’s so dang precious ❤
You got that done pretty quickly! Can’t wait to see the walls!
A sawmill deck gets some hard use. I would highly recommend one or preferably two courses of blocking between your joists as it is an easy way to add strength and stiffening.
Looking good!!! Beautiful baby!
Great job /hard work….well done…Rowan is stunningly beautiful….cuteness overload….thoughts from Scotland…
Platform looks great.
You're place looks great 👍Hi from Colorado Springs 😀
Nice platform well done Cody👏👏👏👏. Excellent video
Excellent "Alaska Craftsman" build
Another great job! Thanks for sharing
Top job well done
Lookin good
good job
Great job
Great video ❤❤❤❤❤
Lori... the edge of the platform was like a beam. you could have shown us some of your old beam skills. Bethany misses you at the gym.
I was thinking the same thing! Only I made sure the camera was off before I tried anything so there would be no evidence.
I miss everyone so much and I plan to go back and visit later this year!

Keep your hand back far enough the nail cant reach it. I had a board blow out doing that while framing a house and that nail went to the bone in my finger. Was not life threatening but man did it hurt!
Very good you stopped at the good bit oh well next time
Good to have partner
✌🏽✌🏽
Has your sawmill paid for itself yet? If not, I’m sure it will!
Question about your old sawmill platform. Any plans for this? Storage shed? Or will you take it apart ?
If those new boards are fresh off the mill, won't you have huge gaps between the planks next year when the green wood shrinks and shrinks and shrinks?
Cody normally uses dead standing so they are not going to have all the moisture
Could you use a roller on the deck instead of a brush. Might be quicker?
A roller attached to a longer pole works great. You can stand and walk the roller along the platform. It’s fast.
We considered using a roller to speed it up, but decided it would drop too much through the cracks.

Please can we see your garden. Just pictures. I know you love to garden and it is important to the everyday life. Just a few pictures on the community page would be awesome
We are hoping to put together a short video showing the garden soon!
Won't that plastic under the deck collect water???
🇳🇴👍👍
Maybe 2 videos a week?, lol
Are you guys ok? I see glimpses of Cody being short and frustrated with you these days.
Be careful so you don't want to get hurt you guys live in far away from hospitals ...plus flip flops are not shoes or boots ..hey girl please wear boots
Why don’t you rebuild your bridge that gets you from the road to your house. You guys sure do things without prioritizing what is more important.
While you may think the bridge is most important, someone else thinks the interior of our house is more important, and someone else will say the outside yard is.
As the ones who are living and experiencing this life, I’d say we have our priorities right where they need to be.
The bridge is one of the last things on our list. We have other means of crossing the creek and if it were a big issue, dozens of other people use this same route - we are not solely responsible.
OMG You youtubers. To square anything one side has to be anchored.
Please please no flip flops in the building area. Also a wise carpenter told me to never use the back of your hand/palm as a tool. You will do serious damage over the years. Ie use an hammer. Also never have your hand on the other side of where the nailer is pointed… ask an ER nurse.
Would you like to go to their house and watch them cook to see if they are using the proper daily amount of allotted salt as well?
Sorry to say, but you shouldn;t be doing silly things like running across joists. As much as it looks like fun, if either of you were to sprain a joint or break a bone with a simple trip. you would be in real trouble for many weeks. Sorry to sound like a kill joy, but reality sucks.
I bet you get invited to all the parties.
@@TheGreatWhiteHope209 Not too many, but seriously. If you go down with a broken leg, remote living with dependents will take on a whole new level of stress. Still each to their own.
