It can be called ‘old’, ‘dated’, the ‘ex boyfriend’ cologne or whatever you want to call it but it still is girls favorite even to this day with Abercrombie fierce being a close second
Man this is a blast from the past for me! My signature scent freshman year of high school👌🏽 although I prefer Profumo because that one really blew me away, the original ADG will always have a special place in my heart. Probably my most complimented fragrance as far as I can remember. Also got my first girlfriend wearing that fragrance 😆🤙🏽 maybe I should pick up a bottle for nostalgia’s sake

I just sampled this cologne last night. It smells absolutely wonderful. It's very gentle, fresh, yet very elegant and fashionable, if that makes sense. I love how the bottle looks. I think Aqua di Gio will still be able to have a run for years into the future.
Profumo is the perfect successor to the original. It smells like the original did back in the 90's before reformulation with that added incense and patchouli that gives it a darker, sexier vibe. Hopefully discontinuation rumors are false. I'd love to see you do an Issey Miyake episode next.
My signature scent back in the day! People seemed to love this on me. Not just women but the men were complimenting me even more! I have so much respect for this cologne. It has been major friend in my life. I keep a bottle for nostalgic reasons. Although i do still love to wear it every now and then!

Someone on fragrantica claims this new reformulation ( no pour homme) smells and performs like the OG formula. But another guy says that the pour homme formula smells way better than the non pour homme formula. Please bro, give us your insight.
I do have the original on my dresser.. Was one of the first ones i purchased myself.. Once i got on my feet instead of occasionally being gifted some over holidays..
I actually have one bottle of this! I like it a lot. I live in Rio and most of the time is too hot to wear heavy stuff, so this is great! The scent lasts a lot on me, but I'm almost always on a 35º-40ºC routine here, so that must help. I won't buy another bottle tho, as I'm switching to Profondo as soon as this one runs out.

I wore the og tonight while singing at a wedding. To us fragheads it’s been around forever, and we’re ‘over it’, but I’ll be damned if people aren’t generally ‘oh, you smell nice’ like they haven’t smelled it before. I have the EDP on the way along with the refill. If it truly has a bit of that modernized Profondo orange opening, but with the rest being a more intensified version of the og, then I’m gonna love it. Can’t wait for it to arrive. Totally pumped. The refillable bottle is also a big draw for me. I HATE throwing away bottles that I liked and knew also sprayed nicely.
Yeah, I wore this. Right when it was new. It was my signature scent for every single day when I would get up and go to work. I think I wore it all throughout 1999 and 2000. If I’m not mistaken. I might’ve worn it in 1998. I am not sure. Anyway, after I bought it, I liked it so much I grabbed the shower gel that went with it. Used it as a shampoo. I might’ve even gotten the deodorant for it. I don’t remember. Really nice fragrance. Such a fresh, clean smell. The only thing that has surpassed it for me is the profumo flanker. All the others are not quite up to snuff.
My wife absolutely loves this scent. I've only been holding out buying it because everyone says it lasts like 45 minutes on them. I guess I need to stop listening to these overreactions and grab a bottle.
Just be prepared to refresh it. I don’t know what he’s talking about. I wore the damn thing back when it was new and, even back then, it didn’t last all that long on you. I would spray it on at seven in the morning and would have to refresh around 11 or 12 o’clock. That was unheard of back then. Most things that were coming out would stay on you the entire day and sometimes, you’d wake up the next morning smelling like them. But, it’s a beautiful scent. Beautiful!

6:52 - I got this back around 2001 or 2002 I believe it was. At the time, I couldn't believe how amazing it was. I got a new bottle just last month for the nostalgia. I've moved on from this scent profile, but yeah - it's a classic.
I just read in fragrantica, the new ADG w/o the Pour Homme is the new reformulation. The pour homme has this lemony cleaner in the opening, and the non-pour homme, more on the floral, the lemony is omitted but the non-pour homme is great in projection.
I've just tried the new 2022 Aqua de Gio eau de parfum and I don't think it does the original justice its just capitalising on the originals name but it is a poor flanker in my opinion

I've always thought of Acqua di Gio OG as a pure Ozonic, rather than an Aquatic or even Ozonic-Aquatic. It's a pure air accord, regardless of any listed "aquatic" notes. To me. Oh, the air is lightly scented with spices, etc but its fresh air. A big reason for its iconic popularity is, in addition to its supreme versatility, is that it was the first thoroughly realized Ozonic (and loosely "aquatic") freshie. Oh, there was CK One, Cool Water, Creed EROLFA (but inaccessibly niche) and maybe a few others - like Aramis New West in 1988 which was first to use the aquatic calone note - but none were quite the full realization of it like AdG. (Except I think EROLFA, released in 1992, is the most brilliantly aquatic fragrance ever!)
Totally agree. Also Issey Miyake Pour Homme came out a good two years before ADG did as well. Always bothers me when people claim ADG was the first modern aquatic.....
I never tried the legendary original formulations, my loss, but what I do know is I love Aqua de Gio. It's one of the best freshies out there. My only complaint is that I wish it last more than the 4 hours or so it does on me. Note I have over 250 frags (Creeds, Tom Fords, Indies, and such as well as designers) and I still consider this great.

The opening is nice...fresh and very pleasant...but as it dries down it gets somewhat dirty smelling....it may be the effect of the patchouli with the marine, floral and musk notes giving it almost like a wet dog accord. Strange but true.
I find that this starts off smelling great but about after an hour it turns into a bathroom cleaner type scent. A really good smelling bathroom cleaner, but bathroom cleaner nonetheless.

Mayby ADG Profondo can help you. I tried a lot of fresh frags to replace all my ADG line but until now I cant find any frag has the same level in this DNA.
I refuse to ever buy this or wear it because literally everyone has it, my uncle received this as a gift from my mom many years ago and still wears it till this day. I would consider buying Profumo if anything but this has no appeal to me at all 😅
Made a similar comment on another video but it seems like Armani is trying to keep Acqua Di Gio relevant through the use of RUclips influencers. Would rather have Armani give a price break on the product over spending marketing dollars for influencer hype. It is a great fragrance but I find it fades within two or so hours after initial application so it is definitely not a long lasting one for me. Holidays are coming so the gift packs are generally decent for this classic as well as the flankers. Prefer Profumo but Acqua Di Gio is still a buy if the price is right.
Never owned any Aqua Di gio boy owne a supposedly clone of original Perry ellis 360 Red more compliments I wore as a gym scent and knock around but b even aftef gym when it bangs so if its a clone ori for almost same price now no brainer
This "this fragrance is good for summer, winter, spring" nonsense doesn't make sense for people who live in a all year long steady weather, like a tropical island where a constant temp is between 78° F to 90° F!. You can use a fragrance when ever you feel like it because fragrances doesn't have any weather specifics, which all these fragrance "experts" place on them!.

I had a girl at work tell me I smelt like a fresh ocean breeze and say this is how a man is supposed to smell lol. Girls still love it for sure.

Definitely a great signature scent. I'm a little seasoned so I bought new in 96'. One of the few bottles I've finished over time. Great stuff.

Fun Fact: my SOTD is perry ellis 360 red which is the closest clone to to the OG Acqua di gio, I have received two compliments from it 👍👍
