  • Features curbside trash and recycling, recycling drop-offs and alley trash. A future video will bring bulk trash and alley clean-up.
The way Chandler has the contract set up, they might as well drive the trucks themselves. The city owns all equipment except the trucks, handles all billing, routing, operates their own transfer station, and even has a solid waste office. Waste Management really only just drives the trucks.
Curbside trash and recycling is done by the larger 320 ZRs, spares are Autocar Autoreaches.
Alley trash is collected by this Pete ZR and two ACX ZRs (single + tag). The arm on the alley trash 320 is extremely unique in that it's chain driven rather than the gear most ZRs use. Only two exist, both of them serve Chandler.
There are several recycling drop-offs for residents with extra recycling and apartments that have no recycling available. This particular drop-off is collected three times a week.
Bulk trash is collected by 3-4 320 McNeilus RLs. From what I can tell, one does scheduled bulk trash (residents get 6 appointments a year), another does bulk recycling such as scrap metal and extra cardboard(unlimited appts./year) while the 3rd does city-mandated alley cleanups (passes through every alley in the city every 6 weeks) and the 4th is a spare or during this week, was likely used for Christmas tree collection.
Hope you all enjoy these newer trucks, thanks for watching and please remember to comment!

Great video! Find it a little funny how the city handles everything except for the trucks. Looks like a lot of people participate in the drop off recycling because the truck' hopper was very full every time it dumped a 300. I like the signboards on these trucks too.

In terms of trucks, I'm glad I don't live here anymore. Living in a city full of ZRs would drive me insane lol. I liked the 300s though, and I enjoyed the collection variety as well. Nice video, looking forward to see the rear loaders.

Very nice, that is one crazy contract. I definitely need to finish my Republic Services of Sacramento compilation, these styles always look really nice.

Awesome video! Haha what a crazy contract. I'm sure WM must like that all they have to do is drive the trucks. Any idea why the contracted out in the first place? Seems like they're the only ones out there that has a private company working for them. These are some cool ZRs I must say. Especially 104402. Seems like these trucks work well for their routes. 103883 was fun to watch. Looks good with dualies and I love how the driver kept the arm out when collecting. Those blue 300s look really good. Wonder why they don't use Dumpsters instead though. Great job on the video! Looking forward to bulk!

Ok now having seen the video the custom ZR arm makes more sense. I wouldn't call it chain driven since the chain doesn't move. A clever way to make the usual RAV/ZR setup a bit more durable and make maintenance way simpler. Not only are the chains and matching sprockets built to a standard spec and available from just about anyone, but replacement in case of damage would be a piece of cake.
That being said vertical lift or not, an overwidth truck fails hard on alley duty. Stowing the gripper carriage every other stop would get annoying fast. Extra special thanks for finding this one.

Is it a policy that ZR's and Amrep's must have the grippers up?

Joshua Gutierrez it’s rather they store the grippers in the hopper for safety, because the grippers on the trucks you mentioned have grippers that stick out
