    This is a great video with the perfect tool list. I just retired this past year after 44 years in carpentry, and I've carried your exact list of tools in my nail bags for at least the last 40 years. I prefer an Estwing hammer too, and I don't have elbow or shoulder problems, and for many years, we drove all the nails in a house or barn with our Estwing hammers not nail guns or high dollar titanium hammers.

      that estwing is a framing hammer. mine is >40 years old and i've never framed a house. mostly i like the
      gentler curve on the nail puller.

    This guy is the bomb. I have all of these tools- but then again, I have probably a hundred or more accumulated over the years and most recently a huge construction/renovation project; I feel like I’m always looking for the right tool for something but can’t ever find it! I realize this is more of an organizational/personal problem, but the point is it is so nice to have this “quick guide” to pick which ones to keep handy in my tool belt/bag. I happen to agree, these are the ones I always end up needing the most. This channel is definitely worth subscribing to and following- I love the way he explains things for some reason. It’s simple but not mind-numbingly so, and it doesn’t feel like I just wasted 15 or more minutes of my life trying to find one point or tip. It bugs the crap out of me when people in videos repeat themselves over and over and/or take forever to get to what the title of the video implies they will be demonstrating or talking about. Maybe those are preferable/helpful for some folks, but for someone with an existing working knowledge of general woodworking/tools and just needs tips or clarification here and there, this guy is where it’s at! Thanks so much!

      @@TrainingHandsAcademy Thank you for the reply. I want to build a table top out of solid wood, I tried to make one but due to inexperience I picked pine wood which was not seasoned and ended up finding a warped board. Since then I am scared to build another solid wood board. My question is if I build it again with seasoned wood and do kerfing on back side, will it prevent the cupping and warping I experienced. Regards

    • @TrainingHandsAcademy
      @TrainingHandsAcademy  4 года назад

      Yes, getting wood that is dry is very important. Wide boards like to move around, so make sure to attach it to the base frame in all four corners (maybe more I don't know the size of your top). But the most important piece is to drill elongated holes (slots) in the base frame so that the screws that hold the top down can move in these slots as the top expands and contracts. Typically, wood expands the most across the grain and not as much in length, so drill the slots in the direction of the most movement (cross grain). I hope that makes sense. You can always email me to talk further. josh@traininghandsacademy.com

    my oh my you do have the perfect Hammer just like the one I used for 40 years on the jobs and still use it these days ... unless you plan to work on a construction site in Michigan ! I recommend not getting into masculine activities. Men and women are different. Men were born to protect and provide for their families, therefore they need to learn the skills to pay the bills. Women were born to bear children, keep the house, care for children while husband is busy making a living.
      Also, stay away from masculine activities because they will make you masculine. You don't want that to happen because men are attracted to the softness of feminine women. This is a cold, hard fact. You don't have time to be a wife and mother and also get into a trade. One will conflict with the other. Men do these things naturally (which is why it's men who developed the carpentry trade). Women do not do these things naturally. Don't listen to what the modern world is telling you. Instead of watching these videos, I recommend watching biblical womanhood videos. Those women are the most feminine and serene women I've ever seen.
