- Every new woodworker needs to know how to check for square, both for individual boards, as well as for whole projects. This video runs through two methods for checking for square, including how to check for and correct parallelograms and rhombuses... that's right, back to high school!

I'm glad I found your channel.
Me too!
Reference edge, reference edge, reference edge - now to remember it when I'm trying to cut and measure straight. Great videos and thank you for mentioning metric sizes as well for us Aussies 😎
my pleasure. thanks for the comment!
Great video! Now I know why I wasn't cutting square! LOL!!! I appreciate your videos, learning the Art and science of woodworking is fun!
This is exactly the info I've been looking for. Thank you!
Hurrah, as last RUclips champions the Machinist square. The cheapest true square available. Do forget to emphasize that holding the stock tight against the reference face is vital. With enough grip to lift the pair up, wood and square. I am subscribing.
Thanks for the added info, and the sub.
Great video.. been learning a lot from watching your videos. Appreciated them..
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching.

great video! your youtube channel so underrated! great channel and 🙏
Thank you for saying so. Cheers!
I always say, if you are going to be squaring up or 'framing' then buy a jig =they're not that expensive and will save hours of time wasted, of course if it's just the occasional square etc then watch and do accordingly. Also buying a straight edge or edges in metal can help enormously, again not that expensive. A decent metal square is not going to be problematic like a wood edge can be.. even after you've worked hard to make it square! Heat can warp the timber, dropping or accidentally slicing into it etc etc.. If the edge is NOT so critical on your cut and you simply want to use the timber edge as a ref re router / circ saw etc then fine.. Great vid as always and yes so right when you say that if you ignore or fail to realize an error re the shape you can end up tower of babel 😨🤣🤣uhh bricking it.. 🤣👀 👍
Thanks for sharing Arthur!
Hi. Are we scheduled for another video soon? My weekly does is anticipated.😁
You Should Be A Shop Teacher... Thank You
Maybe one day Bigmo! 👊
Squaring things up and leveling is my major problem.
Very informative as always! .. Any brand recommendation for squares?
PEC makes a really nice set, and I happen to be giving a set away in my next tool giveaway. I'll be announcing how to enter that giveaway in our community section soon!
@@TrainingHandsAcademy Thanks a lot.. great timing! Merry Christmas!! Hoho 😁😁
I'm not so sure if we have PEC brand here in the Philippines.
@@oghozlerona1987 Do you have Amazon?
Yes we have..but for a very limited itema that delivers here. Stanley maybe is a good choice.
Nice Video. Can you buy that type of wood you mention that you don't need a jointer at hlme depot or lowes?
Yes, most of what they have is surfaced on all sides ready to use.
Thanks for the reply and do they make it in big sheets? Just started wood working in April. Trying to learn all I can, and your videos are great
Awesome, you will love it! No, lumber that is sold as surfaced on 4 sides is only sold in solid wood, like oat, pine, cherry, etc. Plywood comes in sheets and is graded differently than solid wood. Did you see my beginner terminology videos?
Brother can we fix squaring problems with out power tools.TNX
Hey buddy! Yes, with a hand plane, square, shooting board, and winding sticks. Rob Cosman is a great resource for hand tool woodworking. I'll be teaching more on this topic as well, but I'm still learning and growing my skills in hand tool woodworking.
@@TrainingHandsAcademy tnx bro
By one or two, I assume in my case you mean all 😂
How about give away a good Jack plane.
I which your videos had CC 🙁
I'm still trying to find cheaper options to get this done... I'm working on it my friend. 😀
