Except that they don't end quickly almost half the time. 7 times in 16 games they get to the end of regulation, and they decide "you know what we need? 5 more minutes of hockey!"
@Lukewipf442 that's ok the jets can be last in goal song. I'm from Winnipeg big jets fan so if they finish last in goal song no problem. It's Winnipeg we are used to finishing last
This is your type of video and it's so much fun to watch. Never underestimate your chaotic videos; it only shows your knowledge, passion and humility. Go Avs.
Format idea: Line up 1-32 in one line (or 2 lines if 32 don’t fit across) and start the video with that line in the middle. Go left to right from most to least successful raising or lowering based on how entertaining they are. Think that’s a more fun way to present and would be neat looking.
Teams aside, the entertainment value of the video went higher the more Shannon tries to reason the magnets, I laughed at the explanation of the phone magnet :D
Minnesota this year I think is most improved as far as how the games go. The team is visibly more engaged and faster looking than last season by a mile. And the guys look like they are actually having fun playing again which is maybe why they are having this much success this year.
Yes I’m an Avs fan but I love watching so many of the players whether previous Avs or young guns I can watch almost any NHL game and be entertained. Except Vegas of course
THe Capitals had so many injries last season. Kutznetzov was traded after not being effective for a few seasons. Backstrom played half a season and looked OLD. Oshie had injuries as well. Oshie and Backstrom are now on LTIR retirement and Kutznetsov is in the KHL. Connor McMichael and Protas were AHL callups by necessity and they were finding their way-at best. Sonny Milano was claimed off waivers in November and plugged right into the lineup. Got 50 points thanks to to full playing time. He was a healthy scratch for 9 straight games until being put on LTIR Now? Strome has blossomed a LOT as Ovi's center. Pierre Luc DuBois has been play making. He centers Conor MicMichael, whose play has picked up. Jakub Vrana returned on a PTO and is on the 3rd line. So far so good.
Not a fan of the teams, but there are some like Av's & Oilers powerplay, the Panthers overall gameplay, Canes defense and Devils rushes I do like to often watch.
Jersey fan here. I also have a hard time feeling our team out right now. Rocky start, but it feels like with injuries the team may need time to gel. First in the division, but every team has games in hand on us due to this years wonky scheduling. You're right about one thing, though. Fun to watch. You see that pass from Bratter to jack for that first goal Tuesday? Woooooo we got some skill players.
Philly's game has been slow, yes. The experimentation in the lineups, the question marks over goaltending, and Michkov's emergence are helping to turn that around. The Sens have been in some fun ones this year. That 8-7 win against L.A. a month ago springs to mind. Bit of goaltending drama there too over the past few weeks.
Thanks for the video! Cowabunga, dude! Some good choices for the fun to watch teams. For me, I will always watch and enjoy the Blackhawks, even when struggling. Most years, I also enjoy the Avs, Knights, Kraken, Canes, Stars, and Flyers, in descending order. 😉 This year the Jets, Wings, Caps, Rangers, Oilers, and Kings.
More of these types of videos. The 2 axis system works so well. I think a good one for the future is how the fans feel about the team. Compare the success/fan interest now to interest looking towards the future. Something to the effect of who needs to win now to who looks to win in the future.
As Tolstoy said, "All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way". Same goes with sports teams, which is why I find losing or dysfunctional teams more interesting to follow, which is also why over the years my favorite teams to follow have been the Islanders, the Senators and the Flames. There's always something interesting going on with losing teams. With winning teams, everything is too smooth and easy. The Flames haven't often been terrible, but the occasional successes they've had have always been so fragile and always on the verge of disaster that they're fun too.
7 of the 16 Islanders games have gone to overtime this season. They're great at having so little happen during the first 60 minutes that we need an extra five minutes of Islanders hockey almost half the time.
The fact of the matter is that an exercise like this is 100% subjective because how much you like a team absolutely does affect how much fun you have watching them, so nobody should be arguing a thing about this. A power rankings should be non biased, this is 100% bias as it should be.
Hey Shannon love the concept, great video. One tiny thing for next time: maybe the midpoint of the entertainment side should be something else. I feel like “boredom” is closer to the “tough watch” side than the entertaining side, maybe use something like an Adam sandler magnet, some of his movies are so bad they are painful, some of them are so bad they are entertaining. Not a criticism or complaint, just an observation.
That's generous to Detroit considering how bad their even strength offense is this year. Ken and Mickey keep the fun factor alive on their own sometimes.
If you do another one, I think it would be better to have some kind of “success level” magnets on your x-axis. You have two different sets of “entertainment level” magnets (Bart, trap, Timon, phone, etc) on both of your y-axes, but nothing on either x-axis as a success meter.
I think the Canucks will be more exciting with Demko back on the ice, he brings a certain flair with unbelievable saves. Fingers and toes crossed he stays healthy and fit when he returns.
I didn't even bother to turn on the TV as a Caps fan for most of the game last year. We either play a boring game and win/lose, or we got completely blown away and lose, and neither has any entertainment value.
Heartily agree with 95% of this, with some minor quibbles. Those first. PIT - Far less interesting to me. NSH - Disappointing compared to the expectation. Other than Forsberg, and maybe Skjei, a total letdown. Now the good stuff. BUF - Totally agree. Dahlin, to me, is the most influential player on the ice, realtive to the rest of his team. Always a fun watch. LAK - Exasperating. ANA - Painful to watch. SJS - Just watching Blackwood keeps me dialed in, and once they get those rookies tuned up, they will be bad ass. They usually keep it close this year. WSH - Historically I haven't liked watching the Caps, but they are a fun watch these days. MTL - Oh, the humanity! STL - Jekyll & Hyde. MIN - I think I would've honestly had them above CAR...One of these days I'm gonna wake up to a Shannon regression analysis, replete with Greek letters...😏...Maybe time to get yourself a graphed white board...
It's sad to see Detroit go from one of the most entertaining teams last season to one of the least entertaining this season. I've been watching this team for over 20 years and I've never felt this empty even when they win.
Most of the teams that existed back in the 80s were far more entertaining back during that time than they are now. Oilers, Rangers, Pittsburgh, etc. even the devils before trap
No 🧢 Flyers are underrated. Those guys play some GRITTY HOCKEY They r still working out their game, rebuilding, but damn sometimes they really pop off. Lately their overtime and shootout shenanigans have been hyyype
This is one of the Shannonest videos of the year😅Love the concept!
Lol, it's like those two old guys from the Muppets.
"Ya know the best thing about Islanders games? They end quickly!"
"Oooohohohohohoho!"
WALDORF: The Islanders aren’t half bad.
STATLER: Nope, they’re ALL bad!
Oooooooohohohooooo
Except that they don't end quickly almost half the time. 7 times in 16 games they get to the end of regulation, and they decide "you know what we need? 5 more minutes of hockey!"
You should do this same ranking idea but instead rank every Stanly Cup finalist since like the 90s. Would be a fun watch.
agree!
Or just cup finals in general
hes done this or at least something verrry similar, try searching his channel or j youtube but i swear i watched it a year or two ago
@@TheBlazingMonkeyI feel like I’ve seen that too, THG has done about every hockey video you can think of
Kings had the best runs
I think this guy might like watching hockey
Maybe I'm just dense, but I don't see it.
😅
As a Buffalo fan they have that "strong turbulence at 30,000ft" kind of excitement.
Omg that is accurate 😂💀
I would substitute dread instead of excitement. With emphasis on the 30,000 ft part not the Buffalo part lol!
😂😂
I cant wait for the goal song rankings. This is the kind of fun youtube channels need
Well I can about imagine where the jets are gonna be in that one. Do they even have one?
@Lukewipf442 that's ok the jets can be last in goal song. I'm from Winnipeg big jets fan so if they finish last in goal song no problem. It's Winnipeg we are used to finishing last
As a Flyers fan I reluctantly agree but MM gives us hope. You can tell he'll be dominant in a year or two, especially with better line mates..
This is your type of video and it's so much fun to watch. Never underestimate your chaotic videos; it only shows your knowledge, passion and humility. Go Avs.
"unless you're really anxious to see a clock run down quickly" 🤣🤣
I was seriously waiting for Shannon to drop the blues magnet on the floor and go 'meh, close enough' 😅
I thought my Cats are entertaining as hell because I'm biased. Glad to see it from an objective POV.
Watching this after the flyers-sens game, which was highly entertaining
As an Islanders fan I love watching them, but understand why no one else does😂
I've been following the Islanders since 1972 (really) and aside from the early years they haven't had much success, but they're always interesting.
Fun video Shannon always intrigued by your takes on the league!
As a Devils fan, you placed them where I thought they would be.
Thumbs up for Axis board using all 4 corners!!!
Format idea: Line up 1-32 in one line (or 2 lines if 32 don’t fit across) and start the video with that line in the middle. Go left to right from most to least successful raising or lowering based on how entertaining they are. Think that’s a more fun way to present and would be neat looking.

I’m sure that not having the crappy start that they had last year helps with excitement and morale. Hoping they make the playoffs!
Yes I’m an Avs fan but I love watching so many of the players whether previous Avs or young guns I can watch almost any NHL game and be entertained. Except Vegas of course
Your opinion is valuable and feels unbiased. Been around long enough to see the anaheim turn around. Keep em coming!
THe Capitals had so many injries last season. Kutznetzov was traded after not being effective for a few seasons. Backstrom played half a season and looked OLD. Oshie had injuries as well. Oshie and Backstrom are now on LTIR retirement and Kutznetsov is in the KHL.

Great video. As a Pens fan, I find our games incredibly frustrating to watch--but things do happen at least!! 😅
Not a fan of the teams, but there are some like Av's & Oilers powerplay, the Panthers overall gameplay, Canes defense and Devils rushes I do like to often watch.
Jets.

I amend my comment after that drubbing of the Panthers. Devils are a good team this year. Bratter with the hatter. LETS GO DEVILS
As a devils fan after last year I dont want the Mojo of you putting the devils at the top of any list that involves success
Philly's game has been slow, yes. The experimentation in the lineups, the question marks over goaltending, and Michkov's emergence are helping to turn that around. Avs with Nichushkin, Wood, Drouin will be more entertaining, Colton and Landeskog will make it even better
19:52 pretty accurate for an islanders fan with a 3 goal lead in the third
I’d say the Devils were pretty entertaining tonight
Great concept! Now I know what games to check out when my favorite teams not playing.
You should do the same with players!!
Big fan of two-axis comparison videos!
You should definitely do this again.
Great video idea! Loved it. watched it the whole way through
The sens are sooo much more enjoyable this season. Had a many fun games goals for is awesome aswell. But I guess I am biased...
This is great, love the concept
This is a great video idea I love when you come up with new creative video/discussion ideas keep it up as always my friend!

This was a great video and I would love to see more of these.
Bruins have definitely been a hard watch.
Oilers/Avs are the best teams to watch. World class speed and scoring
This is a great concept love this

Cool video! Maybe add one horizontal and one lateral line, so you have the quadrants and make it easier to understand your vision lol
Common factor for all those teams in the upper left they’re scoring in buckets. Which should make Friday’s Caps vs Avs game really fun. Hopefully.
What a time to be alive for WPG
I was going to comment on the pens but you nailed it. "Car crash fun" 😅
This is how I prefer to rate teams! And make up my mind what game I’m gonna watch.
As an Islanders fan I'm fine with this. They're an acquider taste :)
I like this video and the concept of two-dimensional rankings. =)
The telephone magnet in the lower right made me actually laugh out loud. 😂

Awesome concept
Great idea...you should have the Titanic in the bottom right hand corner....or maybe Sominex...
7 of the 16 Islanders games have gone to overtime this season. They're great at having so little happen during the first 60 minutes that we need an extra five minutes of Islanders hockey almost half the time.
Great idea that can be repeated
I would say that I mostly agree here, even surprisingly so.
19:09 Isles fan and the fun begins at “oh boy”.
While I am still hurting from the last canes game, there is no denying that was an entertaining game.
The fact of the matter is that an exercise like this is 100% subjective because how much you like a team absolutely does affect how much fun you have watching them, so nobody should be arguing a thing about this. A power rankings should be non biased, this is 100% bias as it should be.

" If it's not better, then it's fine! *
Spoken like a true hero
Jets riding the wave until the playoffs roll around when they inevitably end up next to the trap magnet. Until then: GO JETS!
Whereas the Oilers will limp into January. Go on an absolute tear, and then run out of gas just short of the cup. Seems like nothing changes.
Bruins are an absolute brutal team to watch this season
Flyers. Oooof….hope the food is good!
Completely agree with San Jose…so much better than last year!
GO SENS GO
I have Devils highlight reels with plays and replays that aren’t on regular highlight reels The D is so fun to watch as well
Wait where’d you get that flames jersey it’s awesome
That's generous to Detroit considering how bad their even strength offense is this year. Ken and Mickey keep the fun factor alive on their own sometimes.
I think The Entertainment Guy has some words to say about the entertainment level...
I read on daily faceoff that tocchet is trying to get EP to play more like JT, and that may be the reason he seems "off" this year.
neat idea

Vancouver Canucks playoffs
Great topic😊😊😊😊🎉
Hey Shannen, what Jersey is that and how can I get one? Is that one of those all star jerseys
It's a parlay jersey, my favorite all star jerseys. They're hard to track down now.
@@TheHockeyGuyI forgot about those, and yes, they are hard to track down, I'm looking at some black ones but the white looks slick

I believe its Gaudreau's 2019 All Star Jersey
@@buckrussell8832 thank you, will look to see if I can buy it from anywhere :)

I say Ottawa should be way higher, we have scored 8 goals in 2 of the 15 games that we've played so far.
I’m also a Sens fan, haven’t scored more than 3 for a few games now
Nobody’s on the level of Winnipeg right now, you’re good to put NJ where they are 😅
It would be nice if you could possibly do this again in Jan/Feb and see what teams moved
How about using a Venn diagram think it would work really well for this type of content?
It's sad to see Detroit go from one of the most entertaining teams last season to one of the least entertaining this season. I've been watching this team for over 20 years and I've never felt this empty even when they win.
Me too. There might be a let down effect from watching the Lions' success (finally), but low scoring, low event hockey is not that much fun to watch.
The Jets, the Stars, the Sens, the Habs for Hutson, but man the Bs have been painful to watch this year, even if they win a game.
Most of the teams that existed back in the 80s were far more entertaining back during that time than they are now. Oilers, Rangers, Pittsburgh, etc. even the devils before trap
Devils have been a ton of fun to watch..... as long as they're not home. If they get some solid home games I'll be way more happy.
Vegas has been electric!

Gotta be Min Wild for me on both counts.
Edm is the most fun to watch McDavid and Leon are worth the watch. Need a goalie
I like this format 👍 as a Devils fan last night was the MOST fun to watch 😎
I love Anaheims away jersey. Home jersey I'm eh
As a rangers fan it’s been a frustrating form of entertainment sometimes 😂😂😂
