アメリカのレディーファーストの文化などを考えると、すれ違う相手に対するrespectって日本人が思ってるよりもあるんじゃないかと思ったりします。
欧米の方が道を譲る文化がスマートな気がしますね✨✨✨
イギリスに半年いて、相手のためにドアを開けて待ってあげる文化に慣れて日本に帰ったら、デパートの入口でずっとドアマンする羽目になりました。イギリスだと自然と交互になるのに日本だとずっと絶え間なく来られて、「日本てこんな感じなのか」と初めて気づきました。
アメリカだと、人が自然に避けるときに進行方向の右に避けてることに気づいた

In the US, most people usually try to let others go first in the narrow aisles of a supermarket to not bump into others as they push shopping carts. We’re very aware of the traffic, even in a supermarket, to avoid any sorts of accident. If two people come to a corner simultaneously, they say, “I’m sorry,” instead of “Excuse me.”
Actually, I don’t even know why we say, “I'm sorry” in the aforementioned situation. I suppose it's because here in America we respect an individual's private space. So, if you physically get very close to someone, you're like invading the person's space; thus, you feel like apologizing by saying, “I'm sorry.”
