I am glad now as an adult i can afford my car with bose stereo system in it. I first heard holographic universe and pitch black progress in my fathers ML320 with bose speakers. The bass was insane in those albums. Yesterday i jammed overworld as my first song to shuffle through the album. I couldn't stop smiling. It's like scar symmetry gave me that nostalgia of being with my father again.

I got my older daughter into metal, she and I love all of the Scar Symmetry albums. I bought Xenotaph on CD, and I've been jamming it in my car which also has a very nice sound system. I kept on harassing my daughter until she also purchased the album! Sent me a screenshot of her playing Soulscanner on Father's day, which is my favorite song on the album

This album is absolutely stellar. The more I listen to it, the more it sounds like a celebration of Pitch Black Progress in many ways. I love how dark, mysterious this beast sounds, it's dripping with atmosphere. You feel a sense of hope with the most beautiful melodies Scar Symmetry has written, and yet that darkness keeps hurling back at you like a monster in deep space. 10/10. AOTY.

Try Before The Dawn or his newest project Wolfheart. Both are amazing. Nightrage first couple albums are killer as well. They feature the At the Gates vocalist. Gotta love the old Arch Enemy albums with Johan and Angela’s albums were great too. Don’t really care for their newer vocalist. I love Soilwork though, I have every vinyl of theirs and this band is great too, I like Holographic Universe the best which seems to be a lot of peoples favorites.

These songs have played in my mind more than they've played through my headphones these past two weeks! I've been transformed into a machine that only plays Scar Symmetry.

    Lyrics (part I):
    Chrononautilus (0:00):
    Spawned by newborn gods
Who view the flesh and bones as stepping stones
    Towards greater deeds
    That lie in wait beyond
Endeavor to sever the binding ties that hold
A locust swarm beckons the invasion of the soul
This will inspire fear, yet they cower in vain
Their negation of elation, so bizarre (lead them to this light of ours)
    Behind the curtains that divide
They lead the masses to apparent light
Thoughts of concern never return, the altergeist instated
    Pumped pre-programmed thoughts
    The saturated systems overthrown
    An invasive creed
    That dictates choice for none
The dreaded embedded inside these programmed thoughts
Will focus the questions in direction of our cause
    Behind the curtains that divide
Leading the masses to apparent light
Thoughts of concern never return, the altergeist instated
Once it is done, altered world view
    Neural design to mechanize
But there is hope, a shadow descends
    Chrononautilus
This will inspire fear, yet they cower in vain
Their negation of elation, so bizarre (lead them to this light of ours)
    Behind the curtains that divide
Leading the masses to apparent light
Thoughts of concern never return, the altergeist instated
Once it is done, altered world view
    Neural design to mechanize
But there is hope, a shadow descends
    Chrononautilus
Fate will favor those few choices cleansed from fear
Inward woe dim the blazing stars, blacking out the sun
Night will fall on us, rejoicing world in tears
And our foe points to the reason we came to this present state
    Forms block the sun
    Sheer daymare
    Objects spewed from infinity
    Reality shivering, the colors fade
Released from skies that seem to sigh
    With consolation
Discarding the beliefs, their pre-programmed thoughts
    Continue charge, aim for control
    Infernal tactics fail-safe, nanotech spores
    The outcome in uncertainty
    Behind the curtains that divide
Leading the masses to apparent light
Thoughts of concern sure to return, the altergeist negated
Once it is done, altered world view
Neural design brought to its demise
    Liberation, the shadow descends
    Chrononautilus

    Scorched Quadrant (05:00):
Now gaze at this ashen world
    A declaration of defeat
    Awaiting the final strike
    Drones will spearhead the descent
Dive down to the barren ground
Search for survivors in the filth and grime
    Drones search high and low
    Above and below
    Exterminators without remorse or guilt
    From scanning satellites
    We're guided out of sight
    As furious shapes emerge
    Discovered targets die
    Our way the wicked's coming
    Drones deployed to destroy
    Now observing out of sight
    Scanners pick up human scent
    Errors as they calculate
    Inconclusive
    Inferno upon the earth
    Besieged scorched quadrant set ablaze
    The machines deployed
    Craft sent to destroy
    Determination ignited their circuits
    From scanning satellites
    We're guided out of sight
    As furious shapes emerge
    Discovered targets die
    Our way the wicked's coming
    Drones deployed to destroy
Carrion of disease, causing certain mutation
    Suffer those who survived
    Politics of the tech generation
    Forced, I slowly will become
    A born transgressor
    To restore what still remains
An example to alternate the platforms of war
    I have seen a vision
    The source undefined
I find myself immersed in conversation with the sky
    Guided to the catacombs
    By a coming race
    From scanning satellites
    We're guided out of sight
    As furious shapes emerge
    Discovered targets die
    Our way the wicked's coming
    Drones deployed to destroy
    The quadrant burning bright
    Scorned stands the sheltered site
    Victorious grueling scourge
    Those guided out of sight
Await the great undoing and avoid their downfall
Carrion of disease, causing certain mutation
    Suffer those who survived
    Politics of the tech generation
    ---
    Overworld (10:09):
They gave to the condemned, a symphony of plotted lies
A fictional reality drawn from misleading facts
This recreated world, a prophecy realized
Events were synchronized behind an intricate disguise
    Intuition left ignored
Freed from its buried state it will ascend
Radiant waves align and flow from a veiled overworld
Activate alien traits divine, to certain minds transferred
As knowledge lost descends, words now appear between the lines
What was in hiding, held unseen, brought forth through conscious acts
A message masked, unheard, keeping the power centralized
The herd disorganized, the masses desensitized
    Intuition left ignored
Freed from its buried state it will ascend
Radiant waves align and flow from a veiled overworld
Activate alien traits divine, to certain minds transferred
Parallel advanced dimensions yearning for the stars
Solved the riddle of creation's equation
On through the stargates in migration to see another sun
Set the stage for man's creation, birth arranged
Freed from its buried state it will ascend
Radiant waves align and flow from a veiled overworld
Activate alien traits divine, to certain minds transferred
    ---
    Altergeist (13:58):
    Stand and face the altergeist
    Victims of forced awakening
For your natural state is flawed
Taste the wisdom within induced second sight
    Neophytes are shining transformed
    Finding their purpose as slaves
Connections set to the main processor
Selves sacrificed for the sake of the whole
    Unmodified, you are beings condemned
Kneel and unite with our doctrine, anti-cosmic at its core
    Drained of all profound insight
    Relieved from stored reasoning
    Smart nanotech in the blood
That send signals and redirect every thought
    Neophytes are shining transformed
    Finding their purpose as slaves
A synthetic riptide of altered biology
    Behold the altergeist
    Now inject advanced respirocytes
Sent to invade through the blood
    Biocide, a synthetic riptide
    The neural pathways torn apart
Body parts and organs replaced by materials dead
    Our creations of altered biology
    Supreme shapeshifting majesty
    We are here to obey
Cells communicate, voices in the shadows
Aim to annihilate the chakra of the heart
Connections set to the main processor
Selves sacrificed for the sake of the whole
    Unmodified, you are beings condemned
Kneel and unite with our doctrine, anti-cosmic at its core
    Now inject advanced respirocytes
Sent to invade through the blood
    Biocide, a synthetic riptide

    Reichsfall (20:12):
    Witness a gathering, planetary signs
Rising for ruthless reckoning, disobey the desensitized tide
As a redeemer of the nations disrupt the judgement day plot
    Their dominion's widening denied
    Uncrowned, leading the lost
    Priming the oversoul, directed awakening
Guidance that will ignite, synapses afire
    A cautionary journey and outcome
Carrying the weight of what's been done
Invite the dire harbinger, foreboding our destiny
    Uproar in restless skies
    Another chapter to unfold
    Warfare is simmering, predatory hives
    Crown of deceivers stand defied
    Corrupted thoughts aligned - dehumanized
    Rising to overthrow, predicted foreshadowing
Guidance that will ignite the system afire
Benign the dawn that rises to guide
    Promethean insight divine
    A cautionary journey and outcome
Carrying the weight of what's been done
Invite the dire harbinger, foreboding our destiny
    Confront the royal blood
    Military overlords
The automatons of authority, march high on synthetic adrenaline
All are guilty 'til proven slaves, it's time to rise
    Rising to overthrow, directed awakening
Guidance that will ignite the system afire
    A cautionary journey and outcome
Carrying the weight of what's been done
Invite the dire harbinger foreboding our destiny
A visionary turning of the tide
Burying the fear of what will come
Inverting dire consequence, dictating the remedy
    Uproar in restless skies
    Another chapter to unfold
    It's time to rise!

    Digiphrenia Dawn (25:26):
Primed to accelerate, advancement will escalate
Bow before emergent times, the digiphrenia dawn
If you turn off the machinery, you turn off our hearts, our souls
    Nothing but circuitry remains
    With the soul in control
Find rebirth in the splendor of new paradigms on earth
A vision of mankind renewed, sprung from a tainted mind
Inventors are measured through their inventions (digiphrenia dawn)
Primed, born to dominate, this world is ours to devour
Crush the divergеnt tide through dense conspiracy
Whеn they are one with the circuitry, we decide their line of thought
    Nothing but compliance is left
    With the soul in control
Find rebirth in the splendor of new paradigms on earth
Deep within conviction, there's a force that moves the earth below and sky above
It's burning with ambition, strive to realize the visions of a song unsung
A vision of mankind renewed, sprung from a tainted mind
Inventors are measured through their inventions (digiphrenia dawn)
An ulterior motive lurked in our actions, the plan relied on your naivete
Slavery introduced in most blatant ways and still you bow and beg for more
A plan conceived, prepared for aeons, that lead us to this dawn
With the passing of the seasons we molded a slave state
You all believed our fictious reasons and aimed for a mirage
You enabled the completion of your disgraceful fate
Your will disintegrates and our agenda stands empowered
    Through unnatural selection
    With the soul in control
Find rebirth in the splendor of new paradigms on earth
A vision of mankind renewed, sprung from a tainted mind
Inventors are measured through their inventions (digiphrenia dawn)
Deep within conviction, there's a force that moves the earth below and sky above
It's burning with ambition, strive to realize the visions of a song unsung

I've been waiting nearly 9 years for this album. So many things have happened in my life during this time. It feels uncanny, the timing of it, with its power and beauty locked in harmony as I grow in the world.
This album brings vivid imagery unlike any before, including hollographic universe. The moments of funk, though brief at times, linger with affect. Perilously, we make gains against the AI that reigns. The battfield is defined while the gridworm sneaks behind enemy lines. Signs of autonomy reappear, but history repeats itself.
    Thank you Scar Symmetry.

I've had your music in my ears since I met my first girlfriend 17 years ago. I met her on the same day I was introduced to you guys. I remember her fondly, but only my relationship with Scar Symmetry lasted. I'm going to leave a few of my thoughts on my first listen here.
I love what you've done with the vocals!
Chrononautilus aligns perfectly with my brain. I once had it on repeat an entire workday and it only improved my focus.
    Scorched Quadrant made me sad.
Overworld made me happy. Very happy. The chorus gives me chills every time. It may be my new favorite.
Altergeist is so many new things I can't tell how I feel. On the first listen I made many surprised facial expressions. It's very interesting!
Reichsfall has hypnotized me with its rhythms, especially guitar.
Digiphrenia Dawn gives me nostalgic feelings of your previous songs but I can't point to any songs. It's like I remember a song of yours that doesn't exist?
Hyperborean Plains... I don't know how I feel yet.
Gridworm I can not explain. It gives me an alien feeling that I will have to explore. The guitar work is remarkable.
A Voyage With Tailed Meteors sounds like Dimmu Borgir snuck into the recording studio. Very refreshing and different! It still has that Scar Symmetry feel.
Soulscanner gives me serious Holographic Universe feels. And then Symmetric In Design feels. And a little Dark Matter Dimensions. And a little something else. I love it.
Xenotaph made me say "oh my god" out loud. That doesn't happen often. What is this chorus? No way. How do you do this? My jaw is hanging open throughout this one. I have no words. Absolute gods of metal the lot of you.
This whole album feels like the essence of Scar Symmetry. If I'm recommending you guys to someone, this is the album. I'll go listen to it 200 times now. Thank you for making life more interesting!

The album is stellar. It flows wonderfully and the density of the songs means they get better with every listen. Sick riffs, great melodies, incredible solos, crushing drums, some of the best clean and dirty vocals in the SS catalogue, it’s catchy, progressive, technically impressive, brutal and beautiful. 10/10 masterpiece of progressive melodic death metal. Per is one of the best kept secrets in the guitar sphere. His work in SS, Kaipa, Zierler and other projects demonstrates that virtuosity and musicality are not mutually exclusive but in fact two facets of achieving greatness.

After multiple listens, I feel happy to report that "Chrononautilus", "Scorched Quadrant", "Overworld", "Altergeist", "Reichsfall" and "Xenotaph" all are amongst my most favorite Scar Symmetry songs now.
You gentlemen just keep evolving - and I'm very eager to witness what kind of graceful beast Phase III is going to be, now that Scar Symmetry is blessed with the force of two absolutely phenomenal guitar players.
I also really like the story of "Phase II", as I am certain that the true neohuman will not be the product of cybernetic augmentations and synthetic biology, but rather emerge naturally as the result of consciousness (/spiritual) evolution and a life-respecting, sane, advanced socio-economic system that operates for the benefit of all humanity, not just for the fortunate few at the top of the pyramid.

I didnt think phase 1 could be improved upon but you really did it. The melodies here are absolute perfection and this will be among my favorite albums forever.
However, I do have some thoughts about the story here. By introducing gods to this, we have crossed the line from science fiction to science fantasy, which is not inherently a bad thing. But as said in phase 1 the cyborgs are beings who aim to transcend space and time so we would basically have gods fighting against gods. One side turning the tide so easily feels unsatisfying and kinda forced. as phase 1 states these machines can survive independent of the environment so who knows how far they have spread throughout the universe? how can we know the virus really got them all?
I hope phase 3 realizes how much untapped potential there is to this story and brings back the artificial gods. maybe some have survived somewhere and are now plotting revenge against the destruction of their empire. we could have gods fighting gods on a monumental scale.
Anyway, looking forward to phase 3 regardless of how it turns out.

I think I'm about to cry now. I listened to you when I was very young, I met your group when I saw the pvp video for the game world of warcraft - drakedog 8. the song scar symmetry - reborn was playing in that video. this is still my favorite song. Now I'm 31, and with wet eyes I saw with happiness that my favorite band has recorded an album!
disarmonia mundi, scar symmetry, dark age. these are the most unforgettable bands for me, which gave me unreal memories and emotions for life! thank you! with great respect from Russia, your devoted fan for the rest of your life is Konstantin.
Ghost prototype I, reborn, outside the inside, the anomaly, and a bunch of other songs I just get goosebumps and my head is spinning from it!

I think as of yet it never happened to me that i rated an album as my all-time favourite after just one listen. I felt like after just 1 hour runtime i got at least 3-4 hours worth of content. Every single second is just so packed with energy, variety, interesting riffs, sounddesign and just amazing musicianship in general it's mindblowing. After mostly leaving metal behind for a while and so much time passing, i never thought i would see a new Scar Symmetry album again. And just when i get the random urge to check out old favourite bands almost 10 years later this pops up.
The Singularity Phase 2 is an amazing accomplishment that will accompany me for many years to come. Thank you.

I've been a fan on this band since 2004, Symmetric in Design. You guys are always on my rotation for music and I got my oldest brother into you guys as well, he absolutely loves you guys. Sharing the experience of listening to this album for the first time with him is something I will never forget. This album gives me so much emotion and nonstop goosebumps. You guys continue to grow and Improve with every single album l. This one knocked it absolutely out of the park. Every single song is memorable and the atmosphere is both hopeless feeling and beautiful at the same time. This could be my album of the decade to be quite honest. I'm already on my fifth listen and I can't get enough. Such an amazingly talented band and still criminally underrated in my book. Keep up the amazing work and I hope to one day see you guys live. 🤘🤘

Hey guys. I am so grateful to you guys. When I had a bad time myself, your album Pitch Black In Progress was my absolute favorite album.
Now I'm 41 and I know about your musical achievement. I find your solos super, the songwiring terrific and the jumps between the modes just fat.
I've always been waiting for your albums and you've always been able to step it up a notch.
I never managed to see you live until now. Either I had to play myself, I was drunk, or otherwise prevented.
Now the world is in a state of flux and I don't think there will be gigs for much longer, the semi-professional musician league is being dismantled more and more, there are almost no clubs anymore and the eco-climamist will unfortunately wipe out our guild of art.
Maybe we will still see each other somewhere in this universe.
    Peace on all your ways!

It's been two months now, and every single song has at some point been my favorite during that time. I've decided on absolute favorites across some categories:
Favorite lyrics: Hyperborean Plains especially 33:33 and 35:45
Favorite solos and musical composition: Altergeist 17:56 is the sickest shit I've heard in my life
Favorite rhythm guitar: Gridworm, the whole song just sounds out of this world
But if you ask me in 5 minutes I may have changed my mind. It's impossible to say anything with certainty other than this is my favorite music album of all time.
There's no way they're going to top this. There's no way. But I hope they'll give it a go!

After my first listen I was unsure how i felt about the album because my brain couldn't process the density of it on the first go, but with each repeated listen things start to click more and I can't get certain sections out of my head. I think many of us here are fellow guitar players, and Per's playing continues to be such an inspiration, whether it be face meltingly fast tapped sections or beautifully restrained leads like the outro solo of Digiphrenia Dawn. It was a long wait for this album, but it was well worth it. The album highlights for me are Chrononautilus, Altergeist, Reichsfall, and Digiphrenia Dawn. Lars and Roberth sound great throughout, and Henrik absolutely kills it.
