this movie, and this scene in particular, is a love letter to old western movies, and a symbolic passage from Ford, Sergio Leone, to Trinity and the lighter western movies :)
More precisely, it is a metaphor for the end of the classic western genre, of Hollywood production, embodied by Henry Fonda and John Wayne, and the passing of the baton to the new generation, the spaghetti westerns, personified by Clint Eastwood and Terence Hill.
I absolutely love this letter. It has a melancholy but a finality that shows how at peace he is. It’s such a unique friendship and commentary on the world as it modernized.
When I was a kid. I loved the movies(I still do) However the older I get. I cry and smile. Much because I always saw them with my Dad. One day I hope, that my son would love to see the movies with me. I always think about how my son would react to:'' Dad, why are you crying.'' ''Son, this movie is just a masterpiece'' ;)
Love this movie. I only saw it for the first time this year ... Don't know how I missed it. It's a good story and well acted too. Terence Hill makes me melt ... just fecking yum 😁💜
there are two endings to this movie. one as viewed with his finger as the gun, and one where it is a gun not a finger. Great movie. Henry Fonda also played in another really good western, Once upon a time in the west.
While I really enjoy Terrence Hill's performance, it is Henry Fonda's role that makes me smile.....I guess it's because I understand him more as I have aged!
I have never gotten tired of this movie. I wish they would show this on TV more often. Movies that come out now have go to have a lot of fowl mouth actors are sex. This came out when you could take the kids to the theater. I guess I am getting old at sixty seven . I miss the old days.

The Rapper was the supposed best, the one who the highest goals were set, who out-did the amazing pack he showed up with.
