Had the pleasure of meeting Evy. Evy and her husband went to every NYPD precinct, transit district, and Housing PSA during the pandemic thanking members of NYPD. Shes a class act. Glad to see her on the podcast again
I enjoy the conversations on this channel. I have watched every interview on RUclips with this woman, Evy and enjoyed her great book. I teach Security courses in the UK and it's on my recommended reading list. Her knowledge, intelligence and personality are utterly commendable. This interview was very enjoyable, having very interesting information, a much needed (these days) amount of common sense and a healthy dose of humour discussing important and often very difficult issues. They are both very knowledgeable in their respective fields. I feel that if politicians and policy makers had the knowledge, skills, intelligence, experience and humility of these two, our populations would be much better served. Look at the fearless and selfless actions of her and her husband during the initial lock down last year (I followed her efforts on Instagram daily) and contrast that against the ineptitude and selfishness of the so called political "leaders" hiding under their beds. Thank you both for another excellent and honest conversation. All the best to Evy on her project with Lisa Bilyeu too. Thanks Andy....by the way...Jocko President,...Andy Secretary of Defense and Evy Secretary of State....she is everything Hill@ry could only dream of being .....
These shorts really help push older content I seen a few multiple year old episodes I recently watched due to these shorts showing what type of interview I missed
Evy says she doesn’t want to be a role model and doesn’t think people would want to hear her on a podcast… which is exactly why she is clearly a powerful role model and someone worth listening to. Never heard of her before this episode but she seems like a very cool, down to earth person who also is badass, yet is humble and a reasonable person. I’m sure I would listen if she had a podcast!
Andy and Evy have a good chemistry, creativity and insight. If they had a podcast on Bullet proof life tools and techniques I would listen - there is a huge void in space of life coaching for professionals that are starting a second career and needs tools, especially for the over 40 crowd.
Your first interview with her is where I learned about Evy. I've since bought and read her book. I saw another podcast with the both of you and that was an immediate "click and watch!"
Evy, if you read this, create a new interview training company and you will probably end up making a huge difference in the field, eventually. This would be so great. That would be a huge legacy on your part.
Andy, your comment regarding the magnetism of Montana is SO INCREDIBLY SPOT-ON! I grew up spending time between Billings, Livingston and Wilsall, while summers were spent in Salt Lake City. When I graduated high school in Billings, I promptly moved to Arizona and have been here for 37 years. BUT, Montana is always home and I see my life coming full-circle and landing there, before I am done. Thanks for sharing who you are and being about as real as anyone can be.
I loved the first podcast with evy and the second one was even better and I watched the whole thing from start to finish in one sitting. She is a total badass and it's really cool to see a woman warrior like her. If there is a 3rd podcast with her I will watch it too from start to finish

Evy is fantastic, what a great interview! The time just flew by. I learned so much interesting information. With her background I expected someone who was completely different. She was open and engaging, kinder than I would have thought and so intelligent. Plus she’s tough. I like Evy a lot. Andy was terrific too. LOL
Listening to the podcast through spotify in the car on the way to work...... her voice is like a warm cup of hot chocolate on a winters day haha. Very soft and soothing. Very cool lady as well. Great attitude towards life it seems.
Badass is back! I'd love to see Paul de Gelder on there. Ex Australian Army, ex Navy clearance diver, shark attack survivor, double amputee turned motivational speaker and host of shark week with a robot arm and leg 🦾 the man crush is real lol
My two dream guests for Jocko's podcast is Admiral McRaven and Evy Poumpouras. He recently did one with the Admiral, so I'm eager to see when he's going to record one with Evy.
Andy, I love your podcast. You bring on some of the greatest guests which intrigue and inspire me every time I listen to a new episode! It's crazy to see the improvements your podcast has made over seemingly an extremely short time. That being said, can we please for the love of god get these videos uploaded in 1080p. This feels like the easiest upgrade that is surprisingly impactful. Hopefully this doesn't come across as bad criticism because that is the last thing I wanted to achieve. Thanks!
“Suicide phones? I’d just call them”. Thanks again for this podcast, your delivery is so good. You have said that you are agnostic (with Chadd Wright), but God is very real and he loves you. Chadd is right. Thank you again for your show, I appreciate it so much.
Good morning everybody!!! The great Andy stump has bestowed another wonderful podcast for us to listen to. Sorry just got done listening to Harry Potter.
It's familiarity. Police in a small town are part of the community. You have usually had years of interactions with the person before they were a cop. In big city's you don't have that.
It's kind of a red flag when someone says "The Science" rather than simply "Science" Science uses the actual scientific method. "The Science" is usually politically motivated.
Its also a signal someone just watches the news most likely CNN and doesn't actually do any science. As an actual scientist its mindblowing how brainwashed they've made people to think science is about going with a narrative when it's literally the opposite. Every great scientific discovery was made by being SKEPTICAL and going AGAINST "ThE ScIeNce"..
I'm a retired cop of 19 years my first month I had to fire my weapon some Meth head was shooting at us from behind a tree never fired my gun on duty again.
Ok when you guys were talking about the enemy having to do one of two things before you could engage them (ROE) Bin Laden didn't do either of those two things did he or did he make movement towards a weapon?? He was just standing behind his wife, right, before Red followed by Oneill or Bissonnette blasted him?? It was around 1:07.00 I believe when they were talking about this. Thanks
Cutting LE budgets is a truly stupid idea. If people are serious about increasing the effectiveness of police officers, they need to give more money not less. A police department has to respond to calls and patrol. That's not negotiable. So when you reduce the money available to the department, the first thing that suffers is the training. It happens in every business. Ongoing training becomes a tick box exercise. It's scary. It's scary that people who are running the country are not smart enough to realise this.
I work for a Class 1 railroad and we have “job insurance” because there is such a high likelihood of being “fired” or serving days due to mistakes or failures in rule compliance. The company is actively seeking out failures. It’s a very us vs. them mentality which is highly inefficient and ineffective when it comes to productivity.
Major Jake King from Marrietta, Georgia would be a good guest for the show. He was instrumental in getting the majority of their department trained in BJJ resulting in less injuries to suspects and officers. Or Chad Lyman from Las Vegas PD.
To expound on the qualified immunity discussion...it only protects the officer if he/she is determined by the court to have done everything right as compared to a reasonable officer at the time under the same circumstances with the same knowledge. People seem to think it protects all officers all the time so we can't be held accountable for constitutional rights violations. Not the case. If the law was clearly established at the time and the officer knew or should have known what they were doing was wrong, QI is not granted by the court and the officer can be personally sued. I work in the socialist republic of Illinois where they're trying to get rid of it also. If this happens then departments and/or officers will need personal liability insurance policies, similar to malpractice insurance for doctors, which will be so expensive no PD or officer will be able to afford it. Hence, defunding PD's.
They train cops here in the Netherlands to shoot the leg, and that will most likely never change any time soon. Because they believe thats the best way to shoot someone when there attacking you, or threaten other people. Meanwhile im very sure people who thought of this, have never fired a gun. Or fired a gun under stress/moving/when attacked. Why would u try and aim for a small target in those conditions?
@@AGfrom83 it is crazy, also that they shoot there weapon in training the same as in the states, just barely. Lot of cops are members of a shooting club, just so they can practice more. But the whole way Police are trained hasnt changed basically since the early-mid 80s. I have done the oficial training course for use of pepperspray/baton and arrest. Its a joke and doesnt work at all. While its so easy to make it work so much better, but they just dont wanna change it. It is a good thing to have to protect yourself.
There needs to be a Friday QA session where it's just Evy giving Andy a poly. Up vote this people
