True, even though the so-called reforms were actually forced on an almost bankrupt India by IMF to give us a cash infusion at the time, it was PVNR who took the lead and implemented the reforms holding post of PM + Industry Minister. Manmohan Singh was Finance Minister under PVNR and is conveniently credited for this. Part of the reason for India being on the brink of bankruptcy was Rajiv Gandhi's profligacy.

Present generation may not refer to the leaders of the bygone era. But their example and their personalities do not fade away. Nehru's legacy was put under back burner by Rajiv Gandhi. Now BJP tries to denigrate Nehru. Can we say that Nehru faded away. But people's adoration towards Nehru does not fade away. And people remember PV Narasimha Rao for economic reforms. I remember PV for changing name of Indira Congress to Indian national Congress in 1994. And Jail Singh is remembered for his unbudging personality in the face of pressures from Rajiv. People remember Modi for the disrespectful gestures towards an elderly person Advani. It doesn't matter if Sonia insults Nehru or PV. Also similar gestures of BJP towards Nehru Gandhi etc. But people remember great personalities. Then who are treated great. Indians adore even worship who sacrifice their self interest, those who live upto their conviction, who are honest, who do not lie. Advani should have known the Indian ethos & tradition - that of Lord Bharata (brother of Lord Rama) Chanakya, Shankaracharya-Vidyaranya, Mahatma Gandhi and Vinobaji.
Modi recently voiced this as Trusteeship.
Lord Bharat placed Lord Rama's paduka (slippers) on the throne & ruled as Regent. Chanakya after obtaining the throne for Chandragupta & ridding of Magadha's enemies, found trust in Amatyarakshasa, & went back to his vocation of teaching. Vidyaranya was content to stay as the mentor of Vijayanagar. Samarth Ramdas was content as Shivaji's mentor. Gandhi, although had absolute power, did not use it for his personal benefit. Vinobaji used his power for the benefit of the lower classes.
Advani, the stalwart, who brought back the Indian tradition to power should have known this and acted upon this.
I hope our beloved Modiji too will have the wisdom to renounce after taking India to where he wish.

Compared to him, Zail SIngh was a joker. Indira Gandhi displayed her arrogance and contempt for the people of India by making a fourth standard pass, the president of India. It was also alleged that at the height of Sikh terrorism, he had harboured some terrorists in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Regrettably LK Advani is a person who never realised that his time had passed by him. He reduced himself to a caricature of his former self. In his autobiography he did not even whisper about corruption in BJP ruled States.

I'm not sure whether Mr. Gupta goes through the comments on his uploads, but it would be interesting to know his views on Mr. Advani's contribution to the present state of affairs since the Rath Yatra and what it led to started a chain of events the country could have done without. I have to mention that I have no political leanings whatsoever and am just interested in knowing how a seasoned journalist and political commentator analyses this period of our country's history, not that we have seen the last of it!

Politically these two gentlemen are poles apart though equally prominent in Indian politics. Mr. Narsimha Rao was a scholar, truly secular ( notwithstanding Babri Masjid incident happened during his regime ) and a great administrator ! Mr. Shekhar Gupta is not reliable analyst. He is not neutral and leaning towards Mr. Modi. He never finds any fault with Modi. In every bad or different situation, Mr. Gupta is finding some good points even from the rubbish for Modi.
Mr Shekhar Gupta’s journalism is nowhere near Mr Arnab Gowami and M/s Navika Kumar. This man eats all the ethics of journalism for breakfast and excretes only lies and nothing but lies. He thinks that with his tag of journalism he is he torch bearer of Pulitzer. But there can be no comparison with him and great man.

Everyone of BJP knows the Contribution of Mr LK Advaniji and way he led the party from mere 2 seats to present mammoth state for which Rajeev Gandhi had to kill his mother. Sir let us not forget what Narsimha Rao did under his watch. He allowed the destruction of Babri Masjid because of his secret love for the RSS. He was sleeping and unavailable when the horrible event was happening.
That fateful day was the turning point in breaking down the secular fabric of our country.
I would say Sonia Gandhi was very lenient towards him - she should have initiated an investigation against him. Economic reforms don't matter - what matters is that the moral ethos of the society is kept intact.

Please research some history. LOL. In 1991 Congress won just 46 where as BJP won 221 seats. So congress was decimated even before the Babri masjid and this babri masjid has nothing to do with the decimation of congress. Its the lack of promoting a strong regional leader so regional parties like BSP took its space. The same is the case with Tamilnadu. Only when you have a strong regional leader you can expect a party to grow in that particular state. PV Narasimha Rao is a patriot. He just obeyed what Mahatma Gandhi expected all other congress leaders to do. Just to close the congress. PVN tried his best to full fill Gandhis dream but he was unsuccessful sadly. Now RG is continuing the work that was initiated by PVN lol
