  • Short video and processed image from Saturn's opposition last night. Not my best capture of the planet. I'm also not as proficient with the planets as I am with DSO's. I usually use a mono camera but last night I tried my OSC ASI533CM Pro (cooler turned off). I really need an ADC (Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector) if I want to use OSC. The blue shift was very noticeable. I had some success in processing it out but overall sharpness was impacted. Might try again in a few days with my asi178mm if the seeing is good.
For those not familiar with planetary astrophotography let me explain what you are seeing.
The video has a green bias due to the camera sensor being more sensitive to green than red and blue.
To create a image of the planet, you record video. You then use a program that stacks the best quality video frames into a single image. This image is then processed in editing software to correct the color, reduce noise & sharpen details.
    Equipment used:
    Celestron Edge HD 8
    ZWO ASI533MC Pro
    Skywatcher EQ6R Pro
    Optolong Lum filter

Great resolution! You can even make out some separation within the inner rings and banding in the clouds. Nicely done!

  • @AstroSoundscape

Nice job James that was looking pretty stable, assume it was a pretty good night. Lovely music.

  • @Si-fp2ij

  • @jupiter_tv

    Amazing!🌟

  • @avt_astro206

Nice Sharp views James! Am I the only one who thinks in this way: The music Fits Perfectly, with that seeing condition 😂, Saturn is Jiggling with the rythm!

  • @dumpydalekobservatory

Lovely image of Saturn James I haven't done much planetary imaging in such a long time, I started out planetary imaging using old webcams then I used a QHY5L-II although tech has come on in leaps & bounds since then.

  • @SimonsAstro

What a transformation James, excellent mate👍

  • @LogansAstro

    that's beautiful James!

  • @michaelasbury5473

Fantastic image! Did you use the 0.7x reducer or was this at the full 2032mm focal length?

  • @chridignan9178

Lovely. What filter were you using?
