1.Jarod Grimm | 1:14 | Senior As I've read in several interviews, you grew up listening to a diverse array of music. Could you tell us some of the records or drummers that had a huge impact on you growing up?
2.Josh Calef | 7:19 | Masters Did you play along with recordings early in your career? Any specific albums? Do you still play along with recordings/tracks?
Steve Gadd breaks down rudiments 12:30
    3. Jack Kloecker | 24:50 | Masters - Lincoln, NE As part of the list of outstanding percussionists to study with John Beck, what are some of the biggest takeaways or advice that he gave that still sticks with you today?
    John Beck | 25:52
    4. William O’Rourke | 33:41 | Senior - How do you work in the studio? Do you have any specific routines? This question especially applies to the periods of your life in LA when you were playing multiple sessions per day.
    5. Jordan Proffer | 37:36 | Senior - North Richland Hills, TXIf you are given music for a particular recording session beforehand, how do you prepare for that session?
    6. Jonah Leonard | 42:37 | Sophomore - Prosper, TX - What does the process for creating unique grooves such as Paul Simon’s 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover and Late in the Evening look like?
    7. James Weston | 50:15 |Did you have a regular practice routine at one point in your life? What did that look like? What does your practice today look like?
    8. Samuel Koch | 53:11 | Freshman - Plano, TX - In all of your years of playing/recording/touring etc., do you have any favorite or memorable groups/sessions that you were a part of? If so, why?
    9. Nathan Bjoin | 55:57 | Senior - Harlen, IA - During your extensive career, have you had any roadblocks or major periods of frustration? If so, how did you overcome these periods? Did you develop any hobbies that helped take your mind off of music? Do you have any favorite hobbies now?
    10. Riley Wine | 1:01:27 | New Jersey - Who are some musicians you have not gotten to play with that you want to create music with?
    11. Logan Scott | 1:03:33 | Freshman - Can you give any advice to students who want more drum set experience and want to improve their improvisation vocabulary?
    12. Ian Yoo | 1:07:10 | Freshman How did you come up with your iconic drum sound and the way you tune your drums? Also, it seems that you keep the same drum tuning regardless of genre. Is there any specific reason for that?
    13. Devin Kazmierczak | 1:10:53| Is there any advice you could give for practicing independence between limbs or even playing in a more linear groove fashion? Any books or exercises that you’ve found most helpful when developing that type of skill? Are there any drummers you would recommend listening to for this?

Its great to see Quincy Davis there as well as all the students. I had the pleasure of having John DeChristopher (who worked for Zildjian at the time) come and tell me Steve was willing to go over some music with me back stage. I was floored! I went back stage before Steve started his clinic with the Zildjian Tour in SC at that time in 2006. I can tell you first hand, he was so patient and willing to talk and discuss whatever I wanted to know. That was a highlight in my drumming life. Steve is a fantastic guy!
Thanks for sharing this interview! I wish all these students the very best with their musical endeavors!

See how easy this is? Glad I grew up in Western NY where these things were happening; I was very fortunate.

Great tutorial for us Drummers who love to Woodshed when we get the time to. Hey Steve I'm very interested in the practice sticks with the rubber tips. Which Company makes those? They are very useful, because we can't always have a practice pad with us. Thank you Steve for the inspirational video. T Y S.R.PURDY 🥁 GOD BLESS

This man is an all time master of drumming and yet so humble and down to earth. I love how much he is still enjoying getting a pair of sticks and practice his rudiments

Absolutely! Steve is telling us here that the fundamentals of drumming matter. We should all work on our rudiments!

I think one of Steve’s greatest contributions was making the rudiment, musical for the set.

To me the most important question is how does Steve consistently make songs feel good. What elusive quality does he have that the rest of us need to learn/develop to achieve that.

He feels good while playing'em. And he actually does, a lot! As he always says! I guess it translates to the kit and then to Us.. which can't help but.. feel good! 😄😁
