It was a pleasure to work with Ben on this patch. I still find DROID a very fascinating platform and learn more with every new project. I also found the patch presented here very cool for modulating a single EuroRack voice, as you can see briefly in the video. I used Plaits and Jove for this, but there are many other voices that benefit from a lot of modulation.
Darnit Ben, you’re totally going to lure me into the Droid world. I’ve been intentionally avoiding it! (despite it being exactly the sort of thing I generally go for)
I can't say I know much of the editor yet. But this is stupidly impressive for 13HP (credit to effiksmusic for the patch). I like to think people could just get going with this and the entry into the 'learning curve' would be small tweaks of this and then looking into what it can do for you.
We need more of these for synth dads, who dont have time to delve deep into the forge. Also would be beneficial to create next patch like sinfonion for additional controllers 2x2pb8 and more. But nice patch, thx
I agree a range of patches to just drop in, with documentation to get you going that really show off the features would be great. I've got other ideas so maybe we'll do more. I'm sure there's users out there sharing stuff and definitely helping each other realise ideas like effiksmusic did here.
A great idea from effiksmusic with that one. Usually I'd patch out LFOs into VCAs and use comparators to drive sample and holds to modulate things if that's the behaviour I want. Nice to just have it a button press away.
Again I am impressed by the Droid ecosystem, but it would be extremely helpful if someone would explain how to make such a patch from scratch. Currently the documentation is a reference for people who already know what they're doing. I have this stuff for many months and I am still lost. Maybe I should make that vid with some help :)
I personally don't find writing patches that difficult. It really is just virtual modules with ins and outs and parameters. The only thing that took me a while to get my head around is how to use buttons in groups with function overlays and stuff. I would say start with the video tutorials that DMMDM had uploaded himself. Then start with simple patches and take it from there...
@@kw7865 The groups and functions is exactly what is puzzling me too. And the Sequencer, scales, etc. I would really like to make a 'learn as I go' tutorial series...
Dont really understand how he went from designing the symphonion where everything is laid out and so accessible to this which to me is convoluted, but thats just me. Probably great stuff 🙂
I think all of it stems from performance tools for himself. I don't think this is convoluted so much just that's it's open ended. So non labelled controls, just numbered ins and outs etc as you can't name them one thing then change them in the next patch to another. Just like a Disting or other open/flexible platform stuff.
DROID SYNC! Great stuff as always. I'll grab a copy and load it up on my Droid and see how much of this I can grab for my own patches. Thanks @effiksmusic!
Individually triggered events rather than clock based timings is a key one that first comes to mind then the sheer volume of chained functions you could have on individual parts. I think a Pam's Pro and this would be an incredible pairing. Largely driving the DROID inputs from the Pam's.
The setup probably, this patch not. Pam‘s Pro strength is compared to DROID the flexibility of changing the model of operation per track on the fly. I would use DROID like in this patch/video if I already know what each track should do and the tailer it to my needs. Then you have the freedom of making our own custom modulation or sequencing source.
I can't figure out where/how to click to download the free file. The url provided after this statement: "...This is the DROID patch file and a PDF guide to go with this video.." takes me right back to this post.
this link - divkid.gumroad.com/l/TheDivKidDROIDModulationHub - at the top of the description? It has the same thumbnail/banner across the top of the website but that's not RUclips that's a site called GumRoad that you can use to sell digital goods. In this it's free (or name your price). Click that link that under the banner on the right side, orange button, there's a purchase/download option. Hope that helps.

Really cool Droid patch to maximize the modulation options in a rather small rack!
thanks!
Thanks Ben! These are the two DROID modules I own, and I can't wait to dig into the patch! This might get me down to one case for my next gig! :D

Yes, this is the DROID you are looking for.
Let me warn you, it's Eurocrack in Eurocrack.
@@tillorrly1128 why is this a warning? Because maybe you want more and more DROID controllers in the future? 😂
@@effiksmusic That, and you can spend hours in noodling around in your patch.
Hp savings, also ergonomic gold mine. Droid brings an impressive system of tools to the fingertips. Nice work, Ben and @effiksmusic

Yeah long term droid curiosity here too.

@@effiksmusic it is helpfull, but still if you have only few hours per week to play, droid can be daunting. But love mine.
this seems an amazing tool!
It is. I'm using DROID now for nearly three year to do a lot of different stuff.
Just a note: at 2:30 no time stamps appear on screen (at least on mine). Great video nonetheless! 😀
Ah ha good spot, let me get that book mark card thing sorted.

25:08 - Self-randomizing LFO cycles?! Now that sounds like a great idea worth stealing ;)
It was the last feature I implemented. But it's randomizing over amplitute of the LFO.
