- BENJAMIN MOORE ADVANCE REVIEW | Awesome Paint for Cabinets and Trim
Benjamin Moore Advance Waterborne Interior Alkyd is a water reducible oil paint, which means it's the best of both worlds. The hard finish of an oil-based paint, but that's cleanable with soap and water. I want to discuss the benefits and perhaps some drawbacks I've found with using it.

Quick note! The high gloss can also be used on exterior surfaces!
Why only the high gloss ?????
on our new built (actually 20 years ago) 4 story residential barn we used a very pricy 3 step alkyld paint (FPE) for the white exterior window, door and corner post as a high gloss trim.........very nice but not sure is worth the price, hassles and sourcing difficulties. My brother, a retired professional painter suggested I look at advance. Loved your video.....but bummed out when you said interior only. But you above say high gloss is OK for exteriors....just checking....you sure? does BM agree or at least hint at OK? this is my own building and can handle 90% success......nothing is pefect.
Yes but you really shouldn't use it outside, I sell Benjamin Moore
i will be painting cabinets soon, and this is very timely and valuable info b/c i was regretting not being able to use oil based paint. now i can. thank you, james.
Long time residential re-painter, and I could not agree more with your endorsement of the Advance product. We customarily roll with a 4" roller and brush out, and this paint has never let us down. Nice review.
Bought this for my cabinets! OMG LOVE!! Using on trim also goes on great stays and not chipping!!!
Maple cabinets - sanded, deglossed with Jasco Deglosser, then primed with insl-x primer. Waited the requisite time between coats per the BM instructional video. Used 4 inch velour roller covers. Required 3 coats of color to get the depth of color - was thinner than i expected.
That’s the paint I’m using right now for my kitchen cabinets. Colors are a custom white (close to Simply White with a little warmth) for top cabinets, and Wrought Iron for bottom cabinets. Love it so far. Waiting a whole day is nice for me so I can go on with my day.
Absolutely! Take it easy, and finish up tomorrow. haha
Used it on my cabinets and have no complaints. I didnt try spraying it but it brushed on beautifully
We used a very high quality brush and the results were fabulous. We are not set up to spray.
Did the paint leave in brush marks? I make ottoman trays and the product I’m using with my spray gun runs so much because it’s almost as thin as water. I’m ready to just brush these trays and wonder if this stuff will work for what I need.
Thanks!
used advance with insl-X stix primer to paint over ugly 4" gloss tile backsplash. very easy to work with. love the results. thanks for all your advice in advance.
I used it on my stair spindles after using anoil base primer (BIN primer) very little clean up because I used a sponge brush. went on very well and dry quickly. after two coats of primer I used BM Advance it dries hard and is super smooth self leveling. It looks awesome.
BIN is actually shellac
Your videos are super! Thank you for the great info and glad I found your channel.
Will the new water born Advance yellow with age if I use an off white color? Can I use this paint over 30 year old BM alkyd oil paint (with proper prep of course)? The old paint still looks amazing but it has yellowed with age. I can't face repainting with oil again.... way too much work. Thanks for your help.
As a custom home remodeler... This is one of my go to paints for cabinets and trim.
Do the white colors (white dove, simply white) in the Advance yellow over time? I’ve read that some people are having that issue.
@@melissa4455 I have not had a call back from a customer with this complaint. I do have moldings in my personal house painted with semi white and have not seen a color change in 5 years. You can always reach out to your local paint distributor and inquire about such a problem to see if this was an early issue ect.
Great video. Thanks for all the helpful info you've been giving us.
I have 80s oak cabinets and want to paint them with a brush & roller.
After watching your videos I decided on BM Advance. The idea was, Coverstain oil bonding primer, then BM Fresh Start water based primer, then 2 coats of Advance.
Went to BM store and they said that since I'm using the coverstain primer, I won't need the water based Fresh Start on top of that.
What's your opinion on skipping Fresh Start?
I don't want unnecessary work but at the same time I don't want to screw it up.
Thanks
Tom
Amazing paint! I will use this on furniture whenever I paint. I used a pearl finish and it was perfect ❤️
Nice! Glad it's working for you Deneen!
FOUND IT!:-) Again great job! Advance is a really amazing product when used on the right project! -HOOKED!
I was just about to share it! 😎😎
I undertook painting my kitchen with advance several years ago (5) it’s held up beautifully, took several weeks of prepping and flipping doors on soup cans (2 coats primer -3 thin coats of brushed finish) but I love it... bye bye 80’s oak.. I actually enjoyed the smell 🤣 every year or so I touch up wear marks with a small craft brush and extra paint kept in a bottle and you can’t even tell. Now I use it for all my trim as well. I’ve always been a Benjamin Moore gal, the hubs always tries to convert me taunting me with their coupons, I give in but always regret my decision. I LOVE Benjamin Moore.
I always hear about advanced but I did my kitchen with the Ben line and it came out amazing.
Very helpful video...I also saw your other video on lacquer paint for cabinets. Between this BM advance and lacquer which do you recommend?
Thank you for your videos. Do you recommend this paint for trim and doors?
Ok you’ve convinced me to use Advance for my kitchen cabinets
That’s the paint I’m using right now for my kitchen cabinets. Colors are a custom white (close to Simply White) for top cabinets and Wrought Iron for bottom cabinets. Looking great so far...
That is awesome! I love the 2-tone look of cabinets. Very fun!
How is it holding up 4 months later? I’m planning on either Chantilly Lace or Simply White for my uppers and Hale Navy for my lowers.
awesome review!
question: i spoke to a few painter who finish their cabinets with a polycrylic clear coat over the last coat of paint. do you think that step is necessary for this particular paint? thanks!
I’m in far Northern California Redding. When we painted our exterior we had a pail peach with a light green trim the peach faded and the trim cracked and has pealed we get HOT some times up to 118 degrees got any recommendations
We are using Advance this week to paint over old style oak cabinets. Trim next week. Great product!!!
donna DeJesu do you have a website where I can order because nobody sells it near me & do you know if they ship the paint to an address perhaps by ups or just sell locally because I've been going crazy I can't find the website where I can order I would appreciate your help. thank
Picked up a couple cans for next to nothing on clearance. Do you see any potential issues using it to paint the inside of a garage over a couple coats of primer?
I sprayed BM Advance primer and semi gloss on new maple cabinets that I built for my son and his wife. I wasn't comfortable thinning it to specs of my Fuji mini max 4 (seemed too thin?) I put 2 coats of primer followed by 2 top coats, all with 24 hours in between.
It seemed to go on with a bit of an orange peal to it but leveled out in a few minutes. I did thin about 5% and sprayed most everything flat to aid in the leveling.
This may all be wrong.......first timer here, but I'm really happy with the results.
Orange peel is what you want to see and yes it levels out on its own. You did everything exactly correct. Good job 🏆
What did you thin it with? TIA!
With black granite counter tops and white subway tile with horizontal black 1/3 accent running thru,(also have grat slate floor tiles) was thinking of Benj Moore White Dove or some light gray or? to redo cabinets. What do u think? And, does Advance come in many colors?
I spray this on my GF's cabinet doors. Decent finish and easy cleanup, but I still prefer spaying oil based enamel. The finish is more durable and lays out better, in my opinion.
Can you use ADVANCE on walls as well as wood trim? If so, which finish do you recommend?
What type of brush and roller you recommend me to paint doors with advance? Thank you
I want to know if the Advance satin paint yellows. I’ve read comments from a few people that had this problem and others said they didn’t. I want to paint White Dove on kitchen cabinets. Is there another option in the Benjamin Moore line of paints that would work for cabinets?
You reccomend a regualr latex semi gloss. Like emerald. Or should use the emerald urethane ?
I have kitchen cabinets that have a veneer on top of MDF wood. The veneer is peeling off and I want to remove it. Will BM Advance work on this type of "wood"?
Could I use this trim and metal baseboard heating (hot water, not electric) that has already been painted ?
I normally use S-W Emerald to paint my customers cabinets. In your opinion, how does the Advance compare?
I was hoping you would talk about coverage. I know Kelly Morres Alkyd is very thin and requires multiple coats.
Thanks, very informative and to the point! For painting over finished maple cabinets, any need to sand/de-glaze/? other than cleaning off grease before applying this? And can it be brushed/rolled in both horizontal/vertical positions?
I would at the very least give it a light sand. Apply Slone coat of Stix primer followed by two coats of Advance.
@@thepaintpeople Do you recommend Stix primer or Advance Primer for re-painting a kitchen cabinet? I've used Fresh Start, but if Stix will improve results I will switch. Thanks!
Aristoshield for Dunn Edwards, and pro industrial for sherwin williams synthetic oil based but you can mix water urethane paint….My favorite paint for cabinets and doors and bathroom is aristoshield dunn Edwards
Will Advance stick to an oil based alkyd, without priming, if I rough the surface up really well?
I'm having really good finish results, but I had to learn how to use this product a little bit right off the bat. Be content with multiple multiple codes. Because it likes to run, build up and then put a nice finish spray on it 2. Don't cut it, it's thin 3. It has a really extensive open time. Which is why brush lines? Roller marks spray irregularities. Lay down some nicely once again, don't overload? It oh that's really nice
Hi James. I recently went into a Benjamin Moore paint store and was looking to purchase Advance for my trim and doors in an off white. I thought I knew what I wanted until the sales lady told me that this paint will yellow over a span of about 7 years. She then turned me towards Scuff-X. Can you validate if this is true about Advance? And, what do you think about Scuff-X vs. Advance?
Can I paint on a laminate kitchen cabinets? Will it stay for long? Any specific recommendations for laminate kitchen cabinet?
I'd have liked to see each sheen as in applied to a sample. Thanks
Can you thin this old paint with water? Since it is water based.
You still have to do a final rinse with mineral spirits and warm water and dawn
I have been looking at this for the woodwork in Chantilly Lace in my hall, stairs and landing, it gets bashed and chipped with mountain bikes coming in and out and we also have a dog who loves mud. Is this a better choice than Scuff x for wood?
Scuff X. Final answer!
I heard this yellows over time. Is that stil the case with current Benjamin Moore advance? Would love to paint our cabinets with this
So from what I've seen on your channel, I am going to paint our kitchen cabinets with the advance. Starry night blue for the base and diamond white for the uppers. I'm assuming matt finish. So thank you for your recommendations! What respirator would you recommend? Thanks
Advanced does not require a respirator
Can I use it on a countertop?
Great explanation
Appreciate it Jason, thanks so much!
Thanks for the great analog this paint. Do you feel that this IS the paint for kitchen cabinets (short of a two part mixture) . All things seem to point to it but what are your thoughts?
Absolutely perfect for kitchen cabinets.
Does anyone have long-term experience with the colour lastability of the Advance High Gloss 'Super White PM-1' which is their Pure Brilliant White? I am specifically looking for a top coat gloss that will not yellow over time, like all oil based and hybrid whites do. The video does not mention this aspect. Many thanks.
Doing kitchen cabinets. Prep all done. Did inside of two cabinets, one with flock foam roller and other with micro fibre (5mm) for comparison. Very slight roughness on both. Been 9 hours now, will this paint still self level some more? Will sand (220g) then second coat after 24 hours. What is preferable rollers, flock foam or micro fibre?
I have found velour to be smoother.
Advance is badass stuff for sure but it’s tricky to brush out, I prefer to roll it with a 4 inch roller and let it be. If I do need to brush it you really gotta put it on and walk away! Don’t mess too much with it!
Sprays beautifully also!!
And when it does dry after a month, it’s hard as nails! Can’t be beat!!
It's true! Not great for the control freaks that try to manipulate the coat too much! 🤣
I thought it had a longer open time to brush it on (one of it's main selling points)?
@@jjmill5209
You are correct, which is one of the reasons our company uses Advance. Another reason is, it's a great product.
I love this paint. I tried and i love it
Awesome to hear! What did you use it on?
@@thepaintpeople i used it on a old dresser and trim
Question! It says to sand prior to applying 2nd coat…on furniture, even with the lightest scuff, it removes the pearl sheen .I’m spraying furniture and if you don’t get every inch on that 2nd coat you get spots! Do you sand prior to 2nd coat?
Hi Wendi, if you've sanded prior and it's taking off the sheen, then it's not necessary.
Great paint, if you can deal with the long open and dry times.
Is this advance paint getting yellow with the time like oil base paint ?
I've heard good things about this paint for painting cabinets and built-ins with a turbine hvlp. Have you found the same and/or used it with a turbine sprayer? I have a toy caddy I built for organizing the kids toys, balls, bike helmets, etc. in the garage. Would BM advance work for that?
Absolutely! Advance has great leveling properties.
What caulk works under this paint? I need to pre-caulk the seams where trim meets ceiling and walls. Thank you!
I use an all purpose paintable caulking. Like the white Alex painter acrylic latex caulk. Seems to work great for me! Just make sure it’s paintable that’s all
I’m very interested in this paint to do all my cabinet boxes in white, how do you think it holds up to kitchen stains. I previously did a few with a latex paint but coffee and tea left stains easily. What finish would you recommend for me?
This is very durable, but the higher the sheen the more durable it will be. Go satin or semi-gloss.
Will Advance properly hide brush strokes when painting trim? Or, might I still need a little bit of extender added? Thank you!
Hey Danny, Advance has the extended dry time already. 16 hour re-coat. If you're finding the brush strokes are an issue, try a softer brush.
One more thing, keep the prepared For nail holes to bleed through, if you use Crawfords painter putty
Can this paint be used in a sprayer?
I've been looking at this paint for our little 1972 camper. We redid the interior a few years ago, but the Kensington Clark Semi-gloss enamel that we used on the cabinet doors, interior doors and "walls" is NOT holding up as I had hoped. Obviously, the camper gets a bit more abuse than a typical home. BUT, the cost ($68-$75/gallon) of this paint makes me hesitate! Is this our best choice for a tough, easy to clean paint for our camper?
Hi S, I mean it dries very hard so it might be worth it? Just keep in mind it takes about a month to fully cure.
when back to a job i did 8 years ago for a family with young children the hallway and landing walls which i used a oil based eggshell are still as good as the day i did them that would marked and stained to hell if it was acrylic by now oil is king that will be a sad day when it's discontinued no more long lasting paint jobs.
james, i hope you answer this--does valspar cabinet and furniture paint work as well as advance for kitchen cabinets?
I've never personally used Valspar cabinet and furniture paint! 🙃
Thanks for the great advice. What product can be used to cover mould
If it's a bit of mold, Zinsser Mold Killing primer works well! If it's a lot, have a professional remove it first!
@@thepaintpeople , better than Kilz?
Equally good!
I'm seriously thinking about using this for a desktop repaint. Slightly painful to have to wait 2 - 3 weeks to use the desk, but if its as good as people say... Also since you mention its durable for cabinets, but not for foot traffic I'd wonder whether desktop "traffic" is more like floor or cabinet abuse. Some people have said to wait the full cure time, then apply Old Masters Master Armor + hardener to desks. Anyone have experience here?
Also some notes from a different forum on spraying Advance...
" have tried everything. Seriously. Flat paint with Ben Moore "Stays Clear" over it. Regal in every sheen they make. Advance in every sheen from flat to semi-gloss. Where I landed after lots and lots of time and effort- clean and de-gloss with TSP. Sand lightly. Reclean. Prime with BIN- an absolute must after trying literally every primer out there. Paint with Advance Satin using an airless set to 1500-1600 psi with Rac X 310 FFLP tip. You do not need to thin the paint at all. Let dry for an entire day. Sand lightly with 320. Paint again. Let dry an entire day. If another coat is needed (unlikely) you can repeat the process of sanding and painting. This finish is beautiful, durable, and I have done this tons of times at this point. I tried getting into Pre-Cat Lacquer, but couldn't find anyone else to make tinted lacquers thanks to our lovely EPA. This is the best finish you can put on cabinets unless you have a special spray booth, etc. I have tried it all. Don't bother with Emerald Urethane, Pro-Classic, 2-3 step processes, etc. I hope this helps someone else. It took a ton of time over the last few years to figure all of this out!!"
Would it be worth using this paint in a sprayer or will and brush and roller work just as well for kitchen cabinets?
A sprayer will give you a smoother, factory-finish. You can still get pretty good results with brush and roller, but it’s tough to compete with an airless!
I love watching your videos but in some videos you’re recommending Benjamin Moore advanced and in others you’re saying you love Sherwin-Williams emerald. I am a little confused. If I was painting my oak kitchen cabinets what paint should I use?
The truth is, they're both excellent products! There's a handful more I can recommend, but I don't want to put too many out there for you to mull over! Haha 🤣
@@thepaintpeople is primer needed? If so, which? Thanks
I started using this for my cabinet jobs then realized it's the same price as the regale select line. So I was like why can't my doors and trim have this amazing finish 🤔 now I use the satin advance for everything !!! I'm not complaining about the price but for the technology involved this should be $10 higher 🤫
Your channel is great! You give excellent pro tips for even amateur painters like me lol. In your opinion, what do you think is the most durable cabinet paint? Behr marquee, Benjamin Moore or Sherwin? Or is there something more durable and better than those I mentioned?
Thanks in advance! And please continue to enlighten us with your expertise. (p.s.- I'm not a professional painter but I think I'm not too bad either)
We're planning a video where we test the durability of all the major cabinet paints out there, so stay tuned!
@@thepaintpeople Thanks a lot!
Hi James, if advance is not the best option for “foot traffic areas” what product would you recommend for stair risers?
Thanks!
If its stair risers you could use something with a higher sheen. By foot traffic its not recommended to be stepped on but with the risers simply touching the heel or toes it should be fine. If you want something a little more duarble to withstand scuffs check out scuff-x a inslx product.
@@nickfreire2194 thanks, Nick. 👌
Do you need to primer surface such as cabinets and what kind, please. Thanks
Advance makes a primer, too.
I have some left over advance and some left over aura that I would like to mix in order to get a full gallon. Is it possible to mix these two paints?
I wouldn’t. They are different paints.
How is this compared to beyond paint?
Hi James. Can the Advance paint also be used to paint doors? I mean raw
wood.
Yes doors trim and anything really, probably not walls 😂
Any experience with Valspar Cabinet Enamel? I'm wondering if cabinet specific paints have any advantages.
Not specifically, to be honest, but we are planning a cabinet paint comparison video in the coming months!
I tested it on a stick , seems to dry fairly hard .... HOWEVER , I am not sure about this , but the paint I used said "Cabinet" and NOW the cans say "CABINET AND FURNITURE" and the "Cabinet and Furniture" did not seem to dry as hard !!!!!! weird , obviously I would think they JUST changed the name , can looks the same , everything seems the same , BUT it does not seem quite as hard as just the old "Cabinet" paint I tested prior to ...... I am not sure what's going on ...... I can tell you this , I have used SW Emerald and Pro Classic HYBRID (not plain acrylic Pro C) , and both dry pretty hard and not bad to use , Emerald levels best
Advance is nice but that 16 hour recoat time is ridiculous. If you're in California try Vista Paint's Protec. It has a very low odor and a much more reasonable recoat time of 6 hours. Protec sprays beautifully but also lays down very nicely when brushed or rolled. It is also Interior/Exterior with rust inhibitors which means it's perfect for cabinets. trim and doors as well as exterior metal. Oh, and it's about $20 cheaper than Advance.
Is this good for interior doors or is there something else you’d recommend? Also, what finish would you recommend for doors? I was thinking I’d use Pearl for the finish.
Advance pearl is great for doors. It does take longer to dry compared to some other products. Scuff-X pearl by Ben Moore would be another great option.
I have some 50+ year old trim which is nicked up. I would rather not replace the trim. Would the Benjamin Moore Advance paint fill in some of these slight nook and crannies or would there be another paint you might recommend?
Use wood filler. If you want to keep the trim you have to do the work. Paint will not fill the nicks
@@thomashelpling9074 suggestion(s) for applying food filler to edges of trim? finding it difficult to apply to rounded areas. thanks!!
I have a dresser I painted some years back with oil based paint. I’d like to paint it again with Advance. Tips to prep the surface???
1. Give it a good sand (120 - 150 grit)
2. Make sure surface area is clean.
3. Apply one coat of Stix primer. Wait couple of hours before topcoat..
4. Apply two coats of Advance allowing 8-12 hours between coats.
Hope that helps! 😁
The best tip I can give is don’t use advance, use a hybrid oil product it will hold up better
Advance is a waterbourne Alkyd.
@@thepaintpeople I forgot but it’s still not very durable
Hey, question for you: our painter wants to use a water-based polyurathane coating over the high-gloss Advance we chose, because he says that even after five days curing time, it's sticking to the paper they laid down. Is this a good idea? Should we sign off it this? Thanks, you've been my painting guru for the last two or three months!
Oil based primer? Spray tip 310 fine finish sprayer? Will it run thru the sprayer or need thinned?
You should be good to go!
@@thepaintpeople I didn't quite understand his question, but you did. Could you explain this to me?
What is the best roller to use with the Advance paint on my kitchen cabinets?
A lot of folks use the purple velour rollers. As far as a brush the Wooster Alpha is always my recommendation for Advance.
@@DanLivingston Exactly the same. The Alpha line is what I stick to. I now go to Amazon to get them as nobody in Dayton is carrying them.
Hi, what about the primer?
In my case the primer apparently an oil-based one. Can I apply for the Advance on ?
Also, I'd been tried to apply onto a white primer a finish clear matte (oil based)coat but that has turned the color to yellow. If I send it back to flat can I apply for the Advance as well?
I've been working on a desk BTW, so I've planning to get Benjamin if it gonna work
Thank you!!
Hey, Advance works well over oil or water based primers. Oil based varnishes tend to yellow the surface that its covering; sanding the surface back down and applying Advance will work, just remember to use the appropriate primer. Cheers!
The Paint People . The primer has already applied. Called Kilz oil base seal and primer.
Thank you for your reply !!!
@@qwertandrew8720 I have used the same primer and the Benjamin one coat latex on my wood trim. The advance goes on well with either primer. A good sand on the first prime coat and then a scuff pad on the second coat.

Can you help if spraying kitchen cabinets with Advance with airless sprayer? Is it good idea to use airless sprayer?
Are you think about using HVLP?
I don’t have HVLP sprayer , but I have spray gun system, can you please recommend tip for the gun and the dilution ratio for the paint
I used this paint on my kitchen cabinets 4 years ago and love it. However, I do need to touch-up/repaint due to some dings. How do I repaint? Do I need to sand them again? I have oak cabinets and this was a looong process the first time. Hoping repainting (again with Advance) is easier!
Hi Kristin, was the Oak grain super obvious with this paint? Using advance primer and paint for mine.
@@Roaldoll I don’t think it’s that obvious. You can sometimes see the grain when the sun hits it, but usually I don’t notice it. I did use 2 coats of primer and I think 4 coats of paint, but I was painting mine white. I remember reading that you can hide the grain even more with wood filler, but I didn’t try it.

A couple of painters have recently raved about Scuff-X for cabinets and trim. How do you compare Scuff-X with Advance? Thanks!!
Advance for cabinets is better in my opinion but it does have some drawbacks. 12 hour reacoat and it has alkyd resins, making clean up a bit more difficult.
@@thepaintpeople is it unorthodox, or even weird, to use Scuff-X for non cabinet trim?
Not at all. We are finding that most painters are using scuffx for doors and trim.
@@thepaintpeople thanks!! And I neglected to say before, awesome video (as always)!!
What would you recommend for foot traffic, if not this product?
Depends what type of foot traffic? Garage, porch, basement?
I use a good primer followed by Aura matte finish (Benjamin Moore ) followed by 4 coats of Stays Clear (Benjamin Moore). Tough as nails and holds up to foot traffic fantastically.
Advanced or Command - which one is better for residential cabinets if done by an experienced professional?
Command is for metal and vinal and other non traditional surfaces. Go with Advance
So which do you prefer for cabinets and trim, Benjamin Moore Advance or Sherwin Williams Proclassic? This is for a do it yourself non-professional painter using a Whizz roller and brush. I hear both are finnicky for beginners, especially if using a roller and brush instead of sprayer.
I'd say advance. It's easier to work with because of the open time. Proclassic can be tricky to brush of you're a beginner.
@@thepaintpeople How does the Sherwin Williams Emerald compare to Advance for Cabinets?
proclassic acrylic is not bad , easier to use , dries faster , but the proclassic HYBRID is far better in the long run as it cures out nice and hard , takes a month to fully cure , but nice and hard finish , forget the mini roller , just brush , you'll get orange peel with roller ... advance is good , but slow dry better chance for runs .... apply thinner coats for all as they all tend to run a bit .... PPG breathrough dries hard too , dries super fast , can recoat in 30 minutes !!!!! again , brush don't roll
@Never Again Pro classic Waterborne Hybrid is fine , dries nice and hard .... Pro Classic Acrylic , ya , not good for cabs , okay for trim / doors , not cabs ... The waterborne dries hardest of ALL ..... I have samples on paint sticks to prove it .... applied in 2020 , beats Advance and Emerald and all the others , except I would say Breakthrough is a very close second ..... The only problem with Breakthrough and SW is the "white" has a tinge of gray to it , not a white white like others .... Inslx has a nice white white
@Never Again That’s why I swore off Sherwin Willams 10 years ago they continually mess around with their products in the name of improving them and by doing so ruin a perfectly good product in an effort to steer you toward a more expensive new line, the whole company is full of scam artists at the top making decisions that only benefit them not the contractors. Even their more expensive lines produce roller spray making for more cleanup at the end of the job. I know most painters won’t agree with me but Behr Marquee is a much better choice for wall paint it always covers with one coat doesn’t produce roller spray and Home Depot’s color matching is far superior from store to store no more boxing multiple gallons together to be sure the paint will match properly throughout the whole job. I’ve been using this paint for 10 years without one complaint from my customers about the quality or the finish.
Do you find that trim painted with Advance yellows over time? I’m wondering if that would mean advantage Scuff-X.
I haven't really found that. It could potentially but not much.
