This 1950’s television cabinet had already been repurposed into a very crude storage cupboard but I think I can do better with some new shelves and a little paint. For this makeover I’ll be using Ben Moore ADVANCE instead of my usual chalk paint and I decided that this would be good project to put down my spray gun and use a roller so it's also beginner friendly. Let’s GO!

Wow that's nice dear
So how are you doing dear
Keeping that back on the piece really gives a nod to its history and makes this piece so unique.
I couldn't agree more. Love your attention to detail. Thanks for sharing!
Good morning Katie and thank you for your video. It turned out amazing!
I love it too! I so wanted her to also paint in the circle in the center back with the dark blue, but no criticism. Because this is a beautiful piece and done exceptionally well 😍 and I know that would have been a very tough tricky spot to get right without getting it on the vintage backer board too. So I respect the choice not to
At risk of sounding like a broken record... it turned out lovely, as usual!!! And how nice of you to be donating it to charity! Lovely piece, lovely gesture! (and congratulations again on 100K!!! Well, deserved!)
Thank you so much!
Such a pretty green color! Love that you’re donating it! 🥰
Gotta give back ❤️
Wow that's nice dear, how are you doing dear
Hi, I am impressed with your level of professionalism and care that you take and then donate to someone in need. It is so important that people in difficult circumstances have good furniture not always being given hand me down third or fourth rate furniture, making them feel even more marginalised. Plus you have such good when turning these pieces into something so practical AND beautiful. You are truly a generous and good hearted person. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for including labor time! I continue to be inspired by your videos ☺️
I’m so glad you find them helpful! Thanks for stopping by today ❤️
Hello dear how are you doing
So much fun to watch! I’ll say it again....I’m so grateful you don’t phone it in with that sing-song utuber voice (you all know what I mean). Just a genuine learning experience from Katie! 👍 Congrats on 100k subscribers ..... you deserve it. Great stuff.....GREAT STUFF! ♥️
Love the idea of keeping the little bit of history. Another beautiful piece.
Capturing the memories & the history will take this beauty into the next century. You're a master flipper.
I like that you use a variety of different brand paints. I also like how you walk through the different techniques you use with the hardware. Thank you for posting these and again it's always nice to see someone donating for those in need.
So thoughtfully and beautifully flipped.
Hello pretty how are you doing dear, hope all is fine
That hardware looks amazing! I hated it before, and questioned your judgment reusing… I’m a believer.
You can place the plastic covered brushes/rollers in the fridge. I've placed them in the freezer for up to 2 weeks and it's saved lots of time.
Yes you can...or you can rinse them out 😉
@@salvagedbykscott I put the 'rinsing' off as long as I can. :)
I enjoy watching your videos and my favorite part is when you remind your viewers that you’re donating the piece to someone in need. Your awesome!
I love that you saved the original back of this piece!
Beautiful piece and I love the color. The old back really gives this piece character. Thanks for a great video !!
That color is so stunning! Love it.
Yay! A painter’s tool instead of just a flathead screwdriver! A much safer tool for removing laminate! My Dad worked for Dumont back in the day! Thanks for preserving that bit of history!
that will make a great towel cabinet in a bathroom somewhere....what a beautiful piece.
I love benjamin moo advanced bett we then chalk paint and is a beautiful smooth finish
I was hoping you’d keep it😕 it’s so cool! And...your hair looks so nice down 😊
It’s pretty. I’m glad you made the shelves for the inside as well. Another good one Katie.
Ohhhh, Katy, this I would have restored to wood finish. Piece of history.
I love your degree of care and attention to detail! In a fresh balanced way without being over the top. Very professional and classy while still fun. Happy to be a new subscriber!
oh my I didn't read the can properly and I had no clue BM Advance had a 16 hour dry time, I did my second coat maybe after 6 hours, worked like a charm, no problems whatsoever . Looks awesome!
I’m glad your donating it, a wonderful gift.
I have a similar piece but it’s an RCA Victor. My father had gutted out the interior and converted it into a bar. Now I have it and it’s in my kitchen storing linens! I placed a mental frame around the insignia to preserve its history. I just might change the colour to yours. It’s stunning! Thanks for sharing.
Hello dear friend
Hi Katie this is the piece I was talking about the TV cabinet it turned out really nice.!!
OMG, the knife hinges. I’ve just gone through hours of hell trying to get the hinges onto to antique buffet I picked up on the side of the road. Some of thing hinges were attached but others were removed and just left in a drawer. Since they look handmade they’re not all identifcal and not really interchangeable so it was really difficult to figure out where they went and how they worked. I was so close to giving up, and just putting on new hinges but I slept on it and the next morning managed to work it out. I know appreciate how they are hidden, etc but I’ve learned to never take off hinges without carefully marking them etc for reinstalltation.
It is beautiful!! And I love that sagy green color!!
Very interesting. So many helpful techniques. You turned a rather unusable piece into a functional work of art. Love that you kept the back and made it beautiful too. Well done. I love it. So kind of you to donate.
Loved the idea of just taking the veneer off! I am always trying to putty it down. Thank you! I am so trying that trick!
Really nice job. I’ve never tried that Benjamin Moore paint. I’m impressed at your attention to detail by painting the screws.
I like the way it looks and the sage green is not a bad look on it looks good
I used Benjamin's paint on the first dresser I painted for my use. I loved how it came out. That was before all the special furniture paint
came out. Thank you for the update on its new qualities. Beautiful color.
This piece came out great! I don't know if you've talked about how you pick out colors for your pieces somewhere, but I'd be interested in hearing about that. Another great job, Katie!
This turned out so sweet. Love the history behind it, now it has new life.
Hello dear how are you doing
What a beautiful piece! Fantastic job as usual!
This is great as always. Can you please makeover a dining table? Give us ideas to give a new look with the current trends rather than the yellow orange-y look?
I avoid dining tables like the plague 😬 sorry. I never say never but it’s not likely.
Thank you for posting your videos. I find your work amazing and inspirational.
The TV cabinet turned out great
Beautiful job Katie! I love how it turned out. I also love that your donating it!
Wow what a transformation! I love that earthy green you chose! It’s just lovely.
I‘m binging your videos since 3 days now. I LOVE YOUR WORK. I hope there will be many many more to come
this is my favorite piece so far.. but then I say that about all your work and pieces.. you top each one.
Looks amazing! Its so cool you’re donating it, whoever receives it will be so happy❤️
I love the whole thing, but especially your attention to detail, e.g. the look of the screws inside (!) the door, and the fact that you decided to preserve the history of this piece on the back!!!
Looks amazing. I love old TV cabinet pieces and as a teenager I hauled one from the neighbor's curb for my first ever furniture project! The color looks similar to the sage on the donated bench, on camera.
Fantastic piece with a nod to its history. Love it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Wooow. Awesome redo. Love the colors and what you have done with this peice. Brava 👏👏
Hello dear how are you doing

Katie Scott, Texas adores you and your channel!!! Thank you for introducing us to Benjamin Moore Advanced. I LOVE trying different paints but you also push me to be brave and try new colors. That cabinet turned out so beautiful!!!
Talk about bringing awesome memories back ...we owned a zenith haha...and I love how you was spot on with the shade of green/olive that was extremely popular during the time that piece was made .,. Beautiful.,.came out So Pretty ...awesome job!😊👍❣️
Loved what you did with this piece, and that has been in your family!!!
Beautiful! I wish all veneer that was peeling came off that easily. Love that you kept the back on and then painted it in blue to match the branding. Special little touches make things so much better!
I wish veneer always cooperated like that too 😜
Lovely color and finish! I love that you saved the historical part, that’ll be fun and interesting to the lucky person who gets this piece!
Hello pretty lady how are you doing ?
So beautiful! I am repainting a hutch from my great grandfather a color like that here soon! It’s so wonderful that you donated this piece. Love what you do!☺️
Hello dear
Congratulations on 100k Katie!!! The short you posted of your son’s reaction is truly priceless! You should be extremely proud of this community you’ve built! ❤️

Hello my dear friend how are you doing
Absolutely love that colour!
Amazing as always. You inspire me every time. Congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers.
Wow...nice work. I just saw a TV cabinet with that same backing down the road and thought I wonder what I could do with that now I wish I had picked it up.
Came up beautifully Katie.
Thank you Tarnya ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome! Love that you kept the back. Beautiful job.
Really
Love that color, beautiful cabinet as always!
I love the colour and bravo for giving it away❤️
❤️❤️❤️ the way it turned out Katie 👏you always come up with brilliant ideas to improve a tired piece 👍
Loved your T-shirt at 9:09!! Looked like something you'd see on a "Maxine" greeting card.
Hello dear friend how are you doing
Maybe I’ll get to work on our old vitrola! Loved the use of BM paint! ❤️⚒️
Its beautiful Katie. Love the color too.
My husband has a record player and I’m looking for a vintage piece to make it his record cabinet. This a great idea! ❤️🌻
Hello dear friend
Awesome Katie! I was wondering what you were going yo do with the backing, to finish it. Love the way you combined the history of the piece, and painted Beloit. Your pieces look so professional.
Cutest, character piece ever Katie! 🥰
Hello dear friend how are you doing
Great remake! Great job!
Dude this 👌, i like that cabinet's new colour 😎 !
I have been using a paintable, embossed wallpaper on parts of different flips. Great way to hide ugly bits AND it looks cool. I probably would have done that to the lower doors 🙃.
I have a wallpaper dresser flip video here on the channel. Definitely a fun option to cover up boo boos 😜
What a cute piece! Love the color. I subscribed a while ago and its been amazing to watch your channel grow and I think its amazing you've reached the point of being able to donate your pieces, what an awesome thing!!! :)
Hello dear friend
I would have put a bronze colored (stenciled) mandala in the center of the doors under the pulls.
As always. I loved it. Thank you.
Love this format of your video and as always great job! It looks really good♥️
Love the color! Added it to my favorites in my Benjamin Moore app 😊❤
Congratulations on 100k Katie! I love ❤️ your channel!
Great piece of history and beautiful reworking it’s function.
That BM Advance is not the easiest to work with. But it is DUR-A-BLE. I used it on kithcen cabinets for a quick Glow Up. 5 years of hard use later, it was still gorgeous!
Thanks for the amount of time too Katie :) Love it
Beautiful as always cause you are amazing my friend!!
Wonderful Katie, beautiful.work. I really liked seeing your work with a roller and brush and not with a lacquer spray...I usually work with a brush and roller...your result is spectacular...cleaning is a good idea of handles I did not know..your work always magnificant....I like very much your channel!!!
Gotta luv husband Doug! 😀 Great project result -as usual!!
Nice job! I love the colours!
Love your channel, you do excellent work. You have inspired me so much. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
It looks amazing!
