Ohhhhh, Fisherman Frustration (4:59 and 12:00) !!!!!! Doing the kayak seemed like the right idea. Lots of good hits. I do like the idea of the folding buck saw on board that was posed earlier. Watch out for those treble hooks. Hope you keep your Tetanus shot up to date ! Always be careful....... because we always need a continuous supply of videos to watch 😁! Pap Blevins
I've been wading for years and never tried a kayak. It would probably take me forever to float a mile stretch because I'd be wanting to drop anchor at every pool and cast it for 15 minutes like I do when I'm wading. I noticed there was hardly any insects flying around you. Thats a blessing. If I was floating a creek like that up where I live in central Minnesota this time of year I'd be getting torn up by deer flies and 🦟 mosquitos 🤣 It's still worth it though 👍
Love this creek. A power saw would be a big help. Be careful!! If you get pinned by a big log and you are alone you’re in trouble. It’s never certain how a log may fall. Bring a buddy.
That looked like a good spot for your old town 106 pdl. Good looking creek. Man it really looked like that hook went deep and I tensed up lol. I've had it happen to me and it sucks. Im glad it didn't. 👊👍
Great video as always! It was fun watching you out there doing your thing! Some nice catches! Thanks for continuing to share and carry us along. Keep up the good work! Excited to see what's coming next. As always, #CreekFishingAdventures rocks!!!
21:58 that’s at least the second time I’ve thought you might do well with a cast back lure like yer fave yum dinger. A fish lost on a more active lure will often snatch up a more passive bait tossed right back at it immediately after it comes off. That’s been my experience anyway.
I recently picked up a 6' M/L Lews xfinity combo from walmart to throw smaller jigheads like 1/32 & 1/64. Its a decent combo for $50, but yesterday I picked up a Daiwa Aird-x 6'6 Medium Fast spinning rod, I tried throwing a 1/32 today and its every bit as good as the Lews combo, a friend of mine actually uses the same rod for bass, even caught an aggressive 8 pounder on it. I picked it up at Academy for $50, its quite possibly the greatest multi species rod under a $100. I knew it would be good because I have the same version in a casting rod which makes me look like a can cast decently, but im overly impressed, I know you dont need another rod like this but if you happen to do a budget Academy Sports video, then please consider it because its great value to pass onto other beginning Anglers or anyone on a budget. Sorry this was so long winded 😅.
Is Academy a store? I know in the old days you could buy stuff that had the Academy name on it. I’m pretty limited on tackle shops in NW Montana, which I find strange considering all the fishing around me.
I have never used a torpedo successfully. not even a bite. Thanks for showing us that is can work. I guess i need to go on my own little adventure at my creek. Thank you
I've been watching for about a year and just got back from my first creek fishing adventure and it was so fun. I am inspired by you and I love your content.
Great action and video brother. 2 things here...1 you needed my 10" Ryobi 18v chainsaw...2 with topwater I tried a little pro tip and this helps to keep them hooked. I use double split rings on my baits from the body to the hooks. It does cause the hooks to occasionally latch together but that can be overcome with a short shank wide gap treble hook. The double was pretty cool. Blessings
I think it’s good that you show a lot of cast that don’t produce a hit. I know when I am out fishing, I can get so focused on the fish, but I forget to look around me. Stop to listen to the birds. Listen to the sounds of the water. Appreciate the colors, and the sounds, and the fact that you’re out enjoying the solitude.
I'm a new RUclipsr. And I've been watching you for a while. I started using your hook set up with the yum dinger, And holy smokes I've been landing monsters. I just wanted to thank you. And on my first video I'll be giving you a shout out. Also I'll be calling it a Tennessee rig.
Dude cordless chainsaws are awesome. I have a DeWalt with an 8 inch blade, and I love it. You should definitely get you one. It'd help you get through some of your obstacles.
Great video. One lure you might try is the Chatterbait Mini Max. I have been catching them pretty good wade fishing lately on this one. I use the small size Yamamoto Zeko as a trailer.
John see if you can get a 2 in. Jitterbug from Lurenet in bullfrog or leopard pattern. You can twitch it, hop it, or just reel it in. I've thrown it and just let it sit still and see the bass just watching it then when the ripples die down, twitch it and the water explodes. Even caught an 8lb channel cat on he swallowed it so deep had to cut him open to get it out of his stomach.
That creek seems to have some amazing potential to be holding some really good fish. It would have been great if you could have landed that double for sure. The bass seemed to be pretty healthy over all and as always you didn't let us down with some excitement and great catches. Looked like a great place to do some fishing for sure . GOD BLESS and GO KATS!!!!!!!
I got a hook in the finger the same way a month ago, and it ended up getting infected. I'm an RN, so thankfully, I knew what to do. I went to urgent care and got antibiotics. If you start seeing any signs of infection like redness, increased pain, swelling, and/or discharge from the wound, go get it checked out ASAP. The swelling alone can cause compartment syndrome in a space as small as a finger. Also, if you haven't had a tetanus shot within the last 5 years you need to get tested/treated for possible tetanus exposure.
@outdoorsforachange if it bleeds well and isn't too deep, then he can get away with it. I've been hooked dozens of times and cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and soap and water, but it's the one time that doesn't work that costs you a finger.
Watch out for those treble hooks John! Buried one in my thumb a week ago. First time ever. Doc had a heck of a time getting it out. Followed that with a round of antibiotics and first tetanus shot in almost 50 years! Pliers only from now on.😊
I was wading a stream west of Nashville and caught a nice smallie on a choppo and when reeling in two others came and another same size was hooked on the top hook! Got them to the bank and top one came off before photo. Know the feeling brother John!!
Yes sirrrrr the good ole up river floats! Nothing like em! We def have to float together soon man for sure. Love the video boy those were some LUNKERS!!! Good Job Brother!!🤘🤘 Keep up the good work. Love these videos! KY Represent!!!!🤘🤘🤣
Dude I just thought I’d tell you, due to watching your videos I ordered some Nikko 3” hellgrammites in Junebug color and I can’t believe the results. In a little creek that’s prob down to 8 feet wide bit 5 or 6 feet deep with dark water, I caught the biggest warmouth I’ve ever seen or heard of here in South Mississippi. I threw him back but I had a hunch he may be a bigger one ever caught. Sure Enough the MS record is 1lb 8oz and by my scale he was slightly over 2lbs. At least I know they’re thriving again in our area and I have a good chance at catching him again.
Just wanted to thank you for the great videos & scripture at the end, great stuff! I have a question, when using nikko hellgermite how long is your floro leader? And what knot fo you use?
I live right on the Tennessee River and kayak fish a lot. I have a kayak just like your old towne. Have you ever tried one on those bixbys or torqudo i think that's how you spell it, lol. I am curious about getting one for my kayak.
Man I always hate it when the line breaks during hook set or the fish swallows the hook. Smallmouth bites can be so subtle at times stream fishing when they just pick up a hellgrammite and slowly move away. They tend to swallow it if given too much time. That and the occasional leader line break. I bumped up from 10 lb Seaguar Blue Label leader to 12 lb hoping to reduce this.
I actually just had a 18in smallie swallow a hellgrammite, tried to revive it but it didn’t look good. I hate that it happened but there’s Ali that chance. Haven’t been able to edit the video yet because I plan to include that part to show it happens sometimes
@@CreekFishingAdventures I watched the video you're referring to and unfortunately I've been there too many times. From my experience if there's a disadvantage other than cost to using Nikko hellgrammites versus Yum or probably other brands is that they are so durable it's next to impossible to remove them from a swallowed hook without causing even further injury to the fish. A bare hook stuck in the gullet is better than one with a hellgrammite wadded up around it. I mostly fish smaller streams in south central KY and I'm sure a lot of the smallies I catch from day to day are the same ones until heavy rains allow the stream to reload, so I hate to lose any of them. I've been doing my best to 100% concentrate on watching and feeling the line when bottom fishing for smallies and setting the hook at the slightest hint of a bite instead of letting them run with it. But as you said there's always that risk. I'm also going to keep a pair of scissors handy to cut out as much of the hellgrammite as I can if it can't be completely removed. Anyway, man I love your content and look forward to all your videos!
Are you wearing the spider wire glasses from Walmart? Not knocking them, I just love how you’ve upgraded your rods, reels and kayaks many times over but I’m pretty sure those are the same $15 glasses you started with. If it works…. don’t fix it! Thanks for another fun one!
There’s something to be said for cheap sunglasses…my prescription lenses are not cheap and if they fall in I have to get them…that introduces some interesting scenarios….
Someone makes a cordless chainsaw I saw it advertised on RUclips, that's what you need when you have a situation like this one come up & I'm sure you have plenty, but a good time no matter having to turn around & caught even more, watching your videos makes me want to go, but I just don't have the energy after work being in the heat! 🎣👍
This dude is THE CROWN OF CREEK FISHING.
It’s great knowing there are still creeks with healthy fish like this. Thanks for the adventure.

Jon,l love the creek and the maneuvers you have to accomplish to move down the water.Topwater is definitely underused on creeks, interesting water.

that’s why i buy more than one lure of the same color and type. so if you loose it well you got a back up
That quote at the end spoke to me and I loved how calming that underwater footage was! Thank you for sharing your adventures!

Absolutely! I usually try to get casts when birds are making noise to add
John, Great Video and Outstanding Fishing. God Has Blessed You.
the goat of creek fishing 🎣 great video
You remember the big ones you lose more than the ones you land... at least I do! You continue to inspire Brother, keep up the great work!!
Another EPIC video buddy!!! Those bass were fired up!! Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee
Thank you always John❣️🙏🏼

@outdoorsforachange if it bleeds well and isn't too deep, then he can get away with it. I've been hooked dozens of times and cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and soap and water, but it's the one time that doesn't work that costs you a finger.
Oh thanks. It’s been fine so far
you know you had a good day when you catch all the fish in the creek and Yourself.
Baby torpedoes are near the top of my list of favorite lures.
I fish alot of the same bodys of water u do. And its unreal the fish u catch. But i uave learned what lures to use lol
Enjoyed! Tight lines from central Florida!
Watch out for those treble hooks John! Buried one in my thumb a week ago. First time ever. Doc had a heck of a time getting it out. Followed that with a round of antibiotics and first tetanus shot in almost 50 years! Pliers only from now on.😊
You make it look so easy, I literally caught my first bass this year today and couldn’t even land it haha
Lucky that Treble didn't get you too bad! I got it bad one time in the thumb joint... it was a nightmare. lol
I was wading a stream west of Nashville and caught a nice smallie on a choppo and when reeling in two others came and another same size was hooked on the top hook! Got them to the bank and top one came off before photo. Know the feeling brother John!!
Oh so close. That’s cool
Thanks for the mention bro! That Prank is soooo good.
yeah i need to use it more now
That's a different looking lure, it's like a cross between a crank bait and a Rebel Pop -R
Well done, glad them hooks didnt get you to bad.
Yes sirrrrr the good ole up river floats! Nothing like em! We def have to float together soon man for sure. Love the video boy those were some LUNKERS!!! Good Job Brother!!🤘🤘

Holy cow. That’s a giant
Great video as always!
Nice few catches. What is next Lumberjack in a Kayak?LOL
Can you talk about your life vest? Interested of what you use. Thanks
Sunfish we called them pumpkin seeds and considered them trash fish.
Just wanted to thank you for the great videos & scripture at the end, great stuff! I have a question, when using nikko hellgermite how long is your floro leader? And what knot fo you use?
Battle scars and all great video, John
Great summertime video

no havent used any motors
I remember the days where people used beetlespins in South carolina creeks and rivers.
John I was just wondering what size Kayak paddle you use? CM.....
you ever use a anchor pole..I'm new to kayak fishing...was thinking about picking up a 7ft pole..?
i havent tried yet but looks handy
@@CreekFishingAdventures I was thinking it would have been useful moving some of that log jam..as well as staying in a good spot.
get a collapsible buck saw - they go through logs like butter
