@@sneshead3326 Welcome my friend thanks for the comment. Haha glad you enjoyed me waffling on
You’re bang on mate. This beautiful country we live in isn’t getting any easier. I for one am fed up with the extortionate rent, paying someone else’s mortgage.
I turned 50 last week, I’ve spent the last week or so kitting out my Vito, come the end of January I’m off!
Start living my life for me. I’m still working, full time on the tools but all that money I’ll not be spending living in a more traditional home will be going in the savings pot. Then in a couple of years I’ll take a few months off every year and head south for winter. No more long dark evenings and Decembers without sun!!
It’s a win win!
Life’s for living, not just forever surviving.
@@paulrudd3996 Welcome Paul, I think a lot of people feel this way! Good for you kitting out the vito it’s a positive step to free up some cash ! Good luck on your journey 👍
Maybe we need men like you to stay put and sort out the invaders, rather than check out.
Excellent video mate, always great to cover these types of insightful videos
@@undershotaries4032 cheers bro appreciate you taking the time top man!
Awesome video mate and great insight, I have a mortgage and it 100 percent makes you think keep em coming!
Thanks for your comment bro I’m glad it has planted a seed good luck 🤞
Just subscribed. I like the cut of your jib, mate.
@@martinmees878 welcome my friend thanks for your comment and sub! Appreciate that mate 👍
A great insight into both ways of living.,Your very inspirational it makes a lot of sense to find a way out of the rat race.
Thanks for your comment I appreciate you stopping by, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🤙
Mike, keep your videos up, i really like them! Im planning on buying a camper van (T6 or similiar) too and full time live in it. I need to go in debt for it, but i think its better paying monthly your van off then paying rent for a flat that you dont own. Wish me luck, that i will archieve this! Greetings from Germany ;)
@@steveb.7987 Welcome Steve, thanks for your comment. Ah that’s good to hear thanks for watching bro! 👊 definitely you will own the van at the end much better than wasted rent money. Good luck on your journey my man you will achieve it I believe in you! Hello 🙋♂️ Germany!
Great video dude and an excellent comparison for people of all ages to consider.
@@its_zakd Thanks bro glad it made sense

@@Taylor7668US thank you for the heads up I appreciate it, and taking the time to watch my video
I love the vanlife and tiny home movement but my family situation doesn't allow it right now. I'd love to downsize instead. To reduce my bills. I like your outtakes
Welcome thanks for your comment, I understand that maybe one day. I always leave the outtakes in to show I’m human and mess up a lot 😂
I literally tell my kids this for when they are older. Im married with 3 kids now but if was 18 again i would definitely be doing this
Welcome my friend thanks for the comment. Love how you Enlighten them on the matter 😂
My eldest is starting to think about what car he wants as his first car. Said he wanted a sports car.....no son? You want a van......him: what? 😂
@ hahaha that’s jokes
I instantly clicked on it! Thank you for sharing your experience 😊 It sounds great, although it’s quite impossible for me to live in a van…(no driving licence +a very tall husband with no driving license ) 😅
edited to add a comment about the cost of living- we are doing our best to stay under £2500 p/m, all included (I mean mortgage+bills, food, transportation, clothing, holiday+fun allowance). When we consider the equity building, the total cost of living monthly “loss” for us is under £2000…Yes! Beats the renting but your van life beats ours for sure 🤣
@@AnaViolinViola Hey Ana, thanks for your comment I appreciate it. That’s a shame it sounded like you’re good with money anyway so best of luck on your journey !
@@VanHikeMikethank you, same to you!
Great post. Thanks. More content ideas? Hiking gear. I see you have some great labels. Feel free to go over that if you could be bothered. Another idea, a day in the life. The reality of living in a van,…. Basic stuff that you may take for granted. The reality of living with minimal stuff, Clothing, washing, going to work - commuting…. Decluttering, downsizing, prioritising, compromising….
Hey Ant, thanks for sharing your thoughts you have some good ideas there got me thinking 🤔 thanks for watching
Great video Mike cheers , yeah I noticed a lot of your earlier videos were adventure based ❤ I’m here for the camper chat , it feels like I was supposed to find your videos and at the time I did ! Question , do you use Virgin Gyms ?
Thanks for your comment, haha well I’m glad you enjoy the camper chat no I use pure gym.
Hi mate great video very inspiring. what gym group you belong to mate
Welcome thanks man! I use pure gym thanks for your comment
I'm proud to say that I'm saving $ 180.00 a year living in the house. Later in retirement well will be balling it but you are doing the right thing. I would put the 20 to work at the Royal Bank in Canada with Direct Investing. I dumped 80 Canadian into silver in 2016 in a TFSA = Tax Free Savings Account and it went up 104 % with a correction of a few more days or weeks it will rocket in 2025-2027. and then down and up again over the next years. Crypto is chancy at best.
Welcome my friend, thanks for your comment good for you saving never a bad thing! Cheers my man thanks for watching
How do you insure van without address?
Welcome, I’m registered at a family member’s home 😁
@VanHikeMike how would you do it otherwise?
@@mrtommyP80 you can't, need address , if you git into trouble for whatever reason. You couldn't even get out of prison without address. It could be just a couple of days for maybe trespassing, but still you would be incarcerated until you got address fixed abode.
@@mrtommyP80 you couldn't without address, and if you got banged up for trespassing or anything, you wouldn't get out without a fixed abode. Even if it was for just a couple of days. No release without address.
Hi mate quick question. Where do you get your mail sent to?
@@HMS1992 Welcome my friend, great question wherever you have registered for your van insurance I use a family member’s 👍
The equivalent of finding an unexpected letter with a big bill in your postbox is hearing an unusual noise coming from the engine compartment of your vehicle telling you that a very expensive repair will be necessary shortly. If that repair takes a week, you won't even have you home during that period.
@@HolgerJakobs Welcome this is true, but a week isn’t a long time all that money you save I think you can afford a repair and stay in a air bnb house for a week to also store all your stuff 😀
You can just keep a sinking fund to cover those little emergencies.
@@joshuaparr3279 absolutely 👍
Imagine how many repairs you could make at £2k per month 😂
@ exactly 😛
What if i dont even make 20k a year lol
Even if you’re on minimum wage this is still possible you just won’t save as much but still a large amount! 👍
