Your knitting vlogs have become my new favourite! I got into knitting a couple of months ago just to have something to keep myself awake in the evening, because I kept falling asleep real early in the evening as lockdown continued through the winter. But watching your videos really inspired me to be more mindful of topics like slow fashion and sustainability/zero waste in clothing, and I'm thankful for that :)
I was knitting while watching :D . I really want to try up cycling something but the thrift shops have been closed for two months already & will for at least one more bc of the panorama :/
Here as well :-// managed to snag this up back in early December though! And luckily I have a pretty big stash built up at home I can utilise. It would be interesting to see if there are local resources of people who have old sweaters they wish to part ways with outside of donating it to secondhand stores! Like with swap markets. I’d also like to find a big pile of moth eaten and threadbare sweaters and then just go to town with mending them!! But it’s hard to find clothes that ragged even in thrift stores haha - a dream for another day 😳🌷🧠
Hola Ida, I love the sweater but most of all I love your creative process and the mastery in recording a very nice video. Usually, when I find long videos I fast forward to see the end result, but yours is interesting all the way! This is the second video I watch from yours, and can't wait to see more! You are teaching me a lot!! I am a beginner knitter, I enjoy not knowing exactly what I am doing and experimenting. A few ugly sweaters already! Haha...Watching you inspires my confidence :D Thank you!!
What an awesome project! I love this process as it's kinda similar to where I want mine to be. Patterns have always felt soooo restrictive to me but I have been using them to learn different techniques to use in improvised patterns. I am obsessed with unraveling sweaters and scarves I find at the thrift store and rarely buy new yarn. It's definitely more challenging but I find having limited yarn really stretches my creative muscles. Your sweater ended up so wonderful and I loved watching the process!
ahhhh the sleeves!!! absolutely in love with them (and with the rest of the sweater too obvs). the colours together are so satisfying, the yellow and white somehow make me think of lemon sherbet ice cream haha! finished my crocheting project whilst watching this :-)
I know this is two years old video but I just wanted to comment and say how beautiful your sweater turned out. I love your design choices. I do think that the colours you chose pairs well together. It's a very fun and bright piece. I tend to like oversized clothing most personally so would love to try something like this with a higher neckline, longer sleeves and longer length (maybe as a dress?) Except I suck at raglan so I will possibly not do that lol Anywho! Amazing work 👏
Heyo, I LOVE the way you break down knitting. It makes sense for my brain. I see you have more stuff on your channel but I'm craving more knitting comment from you! I love the way you explain stuff and your editing style and fashion in upcycling is super interesting
Hello, I am a 10 year old artist and I wanna get into knitting and your videos have helped alot I'm planning on buying the tools and yarn and stuff so thankyou for everything i love you🌺🧶
this came out so so cute!! I saw one of your other upcycled yarn vids a few weeks ago and it inspired me to unravel an old blanket that I had. How do you go about knowing how many stitches you need for the measurements you would like? I'm pretty new to knitting and so far have only used patterns for my projects, but I would love to make my own sometime. Thanks for posting!! :)
Ida!! I'm trying to knit my first sweater in a round with some old yarn I had laying around (it's more of a test to see if I can do it, really) BUT the problem is that I've gotten to the armpits (I'm going from the bottom up) and I don't know how to make armholes! SOS! Do you have any good references/links I could use to figure this out?
Completely depending on if you’re doing raglan or not - and I don’t have experience knitting bottom-up so take it with a grain of salt - if it’s not raglan, I’d bind off like 6-10 centimetres worth of stitches at each side for the ‘pits’ and then knit the front and back separately. Then pick those stitches up and knit the sleeves after attaching the shoulders on top. Does this make sense? I don’t think I have any links for this type of project because my approach is a little different 💞
You have any plans for your scraps because I heard that on etsy.com there is a business that you can send your scraps and they will spin you a one of a kind yarn. I don't remember who did this but was reminded of when I saw your scraps. Who know this might be something to look into when you have enough yarn scrap in the future.

The sweater came out really neat! I liked your idea of stretching the yarn at the end with the white color.
This is a very lovely sweater. Looks very comfortable, and very soft.
So great that you are inventing your own jumper, great video. ☺️
Ida, your sweater is real masterpiece... 😍 It's soo nice! ✨✨✨
What a beautiful sweater! You are simply magical!

This is so cute! Such a great idea & if anyone would have told me they knit a sweater in 2 1/2 days I would have laughed & said “no way!”

That’s really cool! My plan is actually to spin a new yarn myself once I have enough :-) 🔆💞
