Thanks for making this video. I have had a love/hate relationship with round over profiles for years. I was not happy with the 'look' of anything I did. I have ordered a 5/32 round over bit and a Dewalt Cordless Router and will set it up and leave it alone. I am not a big router fan, probably because when I have mine set up the way I want, I am reluctant to mess with it by changing bits. I think your solution is a big time saver, even for a small shop like mine.
With longer bars for the guide rail adapter, yes, it would work with Festool guide rails. The ones that come with the rail adapter are short enough that the router bit would make contact with the Festool rail.
Excellent and detailed review! The only thing I would change about the video is better lighting and wear a lighter colored shirt. The black shirt in combination with the lighting makes it difficult to see some of the details of the parts when held up in front of you.
Retrofit info I have been looking for, Thank you very much. I have the DWP611PK and have hesitated to buy the DCW600B not knowing that plunge base would fit the DCW600B router. I have enjoyed working with the DeWalt 20V Orbital Sander, I only have to manage the dust hose.
Very good review thank you, question for Dewalt how much time and effort would it take to design an edge guide that works for both the plunge adapter and the basic unit. I believe the consumer is being price gouged by Dewalt therefore as much as I like this router, I will look for a company who uses common since.
Good video but a couple of small things @3:49 you kept the guide collar on when transferring to the plunge base. If its wound up to the top as you show it wont get in the way but Dewalt does recommend the collar stays on the small base at all times. Then at 3:57 when you insert the motor into the plunge base you've got it rotated 180deg from where it should be and the collet lock button is hidden behind the tab and cant be accessed. TBH I don't know why dewalt didn't key it so this wasn't possible?
I wanted to see you unscrew the subbase screws to put the round base, cause they're Very, Very tight and I couldn't do It due to being afraid of damaging them.
Great review.. I have decisions to make. Hope you can chime in a give me your opinion. I'm in the market for a cordless router. I'm on the dewalt platform. I have plenty 4 ah, 5 ah and 6 ah batte xr batteries to go around. So from that stand point of view it makes sense for me to go with a dewalt cordless router. However, I'm wanting to add another platform to my collection. I really like makita impacts and there other drills. There is a makita router kit can that hovers in the $300 to $370 range, that kit comes with edge guide, plunge attachment, (2) 5 ah batteries and a chargers. Specwise this dewalt cordless router looks better than makita. I'm curious to know if you have tried the makita and what your thoughts work. With the above being said, I'm curious to know if you have trin
Excelente información. Tu video es muy explicativo y claro, especialmente en lo relacionado con los accesorios. Gracias y felicitaciones. Saludos desde Puerto Montt - Chile
Tom, you may find it hard to find a published runtime, especially for this cordless router. The load can vary great depending on the hardness of the wood, type of bit, depth of cut, etc. But, I've read that customers get about 70 minutes of runtime on average with the 5.0ah battery.
Thanks for a very informative video. Q: Which tool company uses green as their main color? (I was gonna ask you which company was green but I Googled cordless drills and found Ryobi, so, thanks!)
good to know but a simple preface before each accessory: if you want to do X, use this accessory. I'd like to get this router but I have no idea the function of those accessories. If a person already knows their function, then they can probably figure out how to use them. So respectfully, it's hard to figure out who the audience for this video is. As it is, to someone like me who understands just the basic function of a router, this just looks a bit like tool candy video .
Can you tell me where I can get the special plate with the 2 pin that fixes to the guide you mentioned. Because it didn’t come with my cordless router or the guide kit, .. I bought guild kit for that purpose and here nothing on the dewalt site. Any info would be great 👍

I was torn between the Dewalt and Makita 1/4" routers for a while. I've invested heavily in the Makita 18v/36v platforms so the Makita made sense. That said I have had the corded 110v version of the Dewalt for ten Years and it's been brilliant. I run some Dewalt flexvolt kit so I could easily have bought the Dewalt as both the plunge base and fixed bases are compatible between the corded version and the cordless version. In the end I went with the Makita and I have to say it's been a disappointing experience. The amount of slop in the plunge rails is unacceptable, a good 1/16" of a inch. The plunge lock is a small hard bit of plastic and one has to really squeeze down hard on it for it to lock. The depth of plunge adjustment is terrible, it's like it's cross threaded or something plus the micro adjustment is too near the router body. As a consequence I find it nigh impossible to fine tune the dept of plunge. The plate on the fixed base is tiny and their is no micro adjust on the fixed base either. Probably the most dangerous issue I've had is with the collet. You have to squeeze the lock nut to death with both spanners to stop the bit from loosening and slowly drifting out of the collet. I'm going to be buying the Dewalt as soon as i have the cash. It's a far superior router in every respect. I'm basing my opinion on my ten Years experience with the corded model which is basically the same router. Makita made great tools for the most part but there 1/4" cordless router is a dud.
It does not include a template guide / guide bushing. Any brand of US guide bushing will work. We sell the Porter Cable 42000. www.toolnut.com/porter-cable-9-piece-router-template-guide-set.html
We admittedly have no expertise with the application of engraving stone, but this tool is made for woodworking. Therefore, we cannot recommend it for that application.

Michael, there is a small amount of footage in this video showing the router in action. We had shot some video of it in use but had a technical issue with the camera that caused the footage to be unusable. It operates on par with the corded model, DWP611. Sorry the footage was not available.
Dewalt says it's a brushless motor. Without taking it apart, we have no way to verify, but also have no reason not to believe Dewalt's information is accurate. The "XR" designation on Dewalt's tool denote that the tool is brushless.
Thanks for the help in decoding a confusing puzzle/mess of accessories, connections, and indecipherable Dewalt part numbers!
Most informative review of this particular DeWalt model I have seen
Thanks for your help, i purchased everything in the uk, I checked the dewalt code on one of the plates it says to use, it may be just a Uk thing.

Best accessory review hands down. Beast mode cuz!
Great video - Very informative and a LOT of information! Thanks for sharing!
VERY nicely detailed video. Thank you for this knowledge.
Hell of a video, very informative. If I got some longer rails would the rail guide work on the festool track?

How does the power on this compare to the corded? I am going to use this to mill out a little on a aluminum block. Would the cordless work?
The power would be on par with the corded model since this tool uses a brushless motor.
The battery he is using is enough for that router? Or u will need a súper flexvolt ultimate model?
We recommend a minimum of the 5.0Ah 20V MAX battery. A FlexVOLT would also work.
Great review. Thanks.

Hi no info online and dewalt wont answer phone....do anyone know if the collet and nut on dewalt dcw600 also compatible on the dewalt dwp611?

How does it compare to the makita? I need one for mortising intumescent strips (4mm deep /10mm wide). Way more expensive than the makita. in the uk.
