Some blades like the multi material one have a specific rotation that is indicated with arrows on them. This is why you can switch the rotation of the tool,,,
Looks good for basic diy jobs. Perfect for me.
I like to use the 4.5 dewalt cordless for cutting cement backer board but the stupid dust port always wants to fall off. I like the looks of the dust port here not only is it aimed better so the stuff is pushed directly up the port it doesnt look like its going to fall off on every cut...
Those foldable dewalt table are my favorite i love them.
I second that, I have five of them now.
I have three of the tables. Very nice, but two of them have snapped because of a design flaw that has a major weak point.
Yes sir. I have 3 of them
As a tile guy, this tool would be going up against some tough competition with my Flexvolt grinder when cutting tile. I could only see my self using this if I wanted to do some quick dust and water free cuts indoors with it hooded up to a vac.
FYI: I just found out Diablo released a 3" mesh style diamond wheel for this tool. They call it the "Diamond Continuous Rim
Cut-Off Discs for Masonry"
agree
Found that blade! I'll have to put together a PART 2 for this video
@@LandbergTileTV Looking foward to it.
@fartpoobox ohyeah hmm, yeah, I can see that being useful for backsplashes, especially for when you need to quickly cut the outlet holes.
Yah they’ve had that blade out for a minute it’s a beast of a blade tho I have the Milwaukee version of this tool because It took Dewalt forever to come out with their model like Ryobi has one Rigid has one and Makita does but theirs is trash
I own the Milwaukee one, love the tool, I use it to cut 1/4 in plywood or LVP flooring, when it comes down to tile I only use it for thin subway tile
Do you reccomend using this tool for LVP over a miter saw or circular saw or oscillator??
@@tatebraboy336 I do, as long as you put a multi purpose blade it cuts like butter and you can have it next to you the entire time
Que belleza de herramienta , util y practica.
Definitely on my to-get list. Thanks
I can’t justify needing this for a tile job if I have grinders already not like u gave a hard to get to spot on a tile job
It’s a good tool to have but that’s dependent upon your skill and ability to handle this tool. 1st, don’t let the blade guard/guide fool you because it’s about as useless as a brushless Dewalt 20v flash/spot light 😂. Seriously it is. It hinders your cuts as you can’t follow your scribed line without leaning uncomfortably over it to “try” and see that your attempt to cut is straight. And just from looking at that guard, attaching a hose to it for dust control adds more to the hinderance of trying to follow your cut line. Secondly, that guard doesn’t stay in one of its 3 positions when cutting. I find it best cutting in reverse if I have to use the guard, along with the utmost patience. Forward cutting with the guard is absolutely tedious. Now, moving forward, with out the guard, it cuts pretty well for its need but this is the skill/ability factor I stated earlier that is needed. Free handed cutting needs the utmost control here because this little guy is light and spinning fast, if you’re not in control and patient, this can hurt you or harm your cut if it’s needed in a precise manner. Without the guard, your susceptible to more dust and debris, the blade getting pinched and wobbling off course possibly kicking back or out of the cut thus injuring you. Personally I see this as a poor design for a fast buck on Dewalt’s part. I wouldn’t recommend it but that’s the game of choice - is it needed or not. Unlike a circular saw that is much heavier and easier to control this little cutter poses more problems than solutions. My biggest issue is with the guard/guide design. Just as a simple cut off tool with precision needed it’s good, copper demo it’s good, ripping up drywall it’s good. For the price it’s nothing special nor fancy. As for cutting tile, expect chips and imperfections near your finishing cut. When I refer to the guard/guide being disappointing I mean in terms of setting the depth cut and getting going, when that’s being attempted the guard will drop when applying pressure as you push your cut. It’s kind of difficult to explain but if you get one you’ll understand right away. I’d suggest renting or borrowing one if possible before wasting money here.
Extremely insightful comment. I just got this tool myself with two primary purposes in mind: removing flood-damaged sections of drywall and cutting vinyl & aluminum soffit. I was surprised to see that people actually use this for cutting tile. I don't see how it's possible to get a straight, clean cut without having god-like skill and dexterity. And as I think you alluded to, the cut line indicator on the shoe of the dust shroud is absolutely useless because your view of the front of the shoe is completely obstructed by the vacuum/dust extractor connection. I've also experienced the unsettling movement when cutting with the dust shroud/shoe attached, due to the 3-position gaurd being way too easy to move.
the best tool to have when installing rigid vinyl or laminate plank (the type of plank that does not bend when you hold one end of the plank) and when cutting finished material (were blue tape or a piece of wood is needed when preventing tear out or chipping).
This tool is better than using a miter saw or a table saw or cross cut or oscillator for vinyl flooring? Very curious because this tool looks like it would be awesome to do all the cuts since it’s so small
@@tatebraboy336 you can still use miter saw to do cross cut, but if you needed one tool, the compact 3" saw will do it all. You will have good control with it.
The oscillator tool is bested used for cutting existing door jams to slide the flooring under.
The diablo blade works real well, wanted to see how it dose on hardie backer used my 12 volt today less than impressed
Perfect for tile work, where you need mobility and accuracy, as for metal it is slow to cut
I have the Milwaukee version of this tool I use it for tedious cuts and tear outs
I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.
I'm looking to get the dust shroud for my dewalt grinder for when I'm cutting miters.. have u used one?
I'm thinking this may be perfect for use in formica laminate countertop installation.
The multiuse blade goes through 0.05” stainless like butter. The big batteries really overbalance the tool. A 5 amp is plenty. The new 5 amp powerstack is perfect if you’re going to cut through thicker materials.
Guys, seriously, read the manual. It tells you to REMOVE the dust shroud when cutting metal. There’s a good reason for that. The shroud is plastic. It can melt from the heat, or even burn. You don’t want the possibly red hot particles going into your vacuum! Inside the shroud is a metal cover over the top of the blade for metal cutting. I cut tile and stone in one pass and have the front edge of the blade turning down so as not to chip the material.
Great reviews on this I'm getting one
Probably not ideal for cutting steel stud in a wall eh? I like how small it is but the width seems like it might be a bit tight in some situations. I'm running drainage and water lines at work for plumbing. Cutting lots of stud. I use my coworkers Milwaukee angle grinder a lot, but it is pretty tight in a lot of situations too. It's such a waste of time to pop out a stud just to cut out a 3"x3" hole... Any recommendations buying this over an angle grinder?
I’ve 2 similar from Parkside (Lidl brand), but different models with different switches, I initially purchased them just have an idea how they feel cose I actually want to purchase the Milwaukee version, but I end up using them all the time while working with subway tiles, ceramics or mosaic, they will not replace your grinder, but it will be worth in my opinion. I use 2 Bosch meshed blades, they were more expensive than the grinders, but they cut amazing
Does Bosch make 3 inch mesh blades?
@@LandbergTileTV if 3 inch is this blade yes (Sorry, I’m European, thinking in mm 🤦🏻♂️). If you have instagram I can dm you a picture of it if you like. I still have a new one. I’m telling you, this blade is a game changer. Let me know if you have the same username and I will dm you a couple of pictures from different angles, the 2nd blade I purchased is still brand new in the package 👍 LE//: found you, check your dm on insta 👍
We need a head to head with a regular size grinder with a 4.5 or 5 inch blade because it looked alittle slow.
Diablo makes a mesh blade for that unit I have you for my Milwaukee 3” cut off wheel and I do all my toilet cuts, valve cuts etc find it a lot simpler then grinder sometimes
Have one**
Can this replace major brand`s 20v-40v high-end grinders? enough power to compete with them? or just for DIY?
i used this to made a cutout in a granite countertop yesterday. it embarrasses full scale grinders. I bought the best blade to cut a steel railing for a client and the grainder struggled alot, but I had to do 2 more cuts after a few days, used this and it cut hardened steel railings with the stock dewalt blade like cheese.
I need to know which adapter you used to connect the vacuum to the 3 in cut off tool
Nice!!! Way more powerful than that week azz Weekwaukee! That Weekwaukee is one of the most expensive overpriced yet bogs down with the slightest pressure. Only good for cutting drywall and cardboard and barley cut through thin wood! Had to return it for a complete refund and replaced it with the Ridgid, witch is a much better tool. But I will be grabbing this DeWalt it's a beast even better than my trusty Ridgid. Nice vid 👍
That is a badass tool
I got the milwaukee version and I love it
I have this (one of the dozen Dewalt tools I have). Should I get an oscillating tool as well or does this tool cover that need? Thanks!!
Amazing review ! I would love to see you review youkzuan manual tile cutter
Bro I love the channel. I had a problem with a combo they send me .. one battery was faulty... The main drill the hammer combi drill was also faulty. I spend on festool
The same
.. one battery came broken.... Mate. Do you know how to keep smiling by watching your video... long Live Makita!!! And Milwaukee
Jus got mines two days ago gotta buy the blade that cuts wood
Nice video. To the point. Thank you
Yes sir, appreciate the comment
Dewalt Thumb Removal tool... handy 😊
Thanks for another useful video. Does it have a standard size arbor hole so that a common angle grinder blade can fit on it or require a dedicated blade? The evolution miter saw has that special arbor hole which causes it to only use a special blade which means limited availability and so on.
I don't think that tool would be worth buying if a person already owns a proper 4½ inch angle grinder.
The arbor works with 3/8 and 9/16
Do you see the cutting line with that dust port on?
Kobalt clamps, wtf. Someone call Dewalt.
Good video! Just ordered this little thing! Looks like it's easier to use for cutting anything in a hurry!
Can this cut glass tile with a 3” Diablo continuous rim diamond blade?
What if you need to get in middle of a control panel to cut a square ?
Would this work good for drywall with the shroud ?
Awesome review
Thanks!
DeWalt making really good tools put roof on today with there 20 volt roofing gun and ill tell you I love that gun
That is nice small grinder reversible motor 👍
Sorry I should say cut off tool i like those for cutting tiles smaller and lighter and handy unlike grinder its heavy
diablo makes a pretty good 3 in dimond blade
Sold me on the reverse mechanism
is this good for left handers?
The ergonomics of a grinder are just better than these little saws for cutting tile
Do u think it can cut Clay pipe ?
Its available blade for wood?
I love tool tuesday.
Anyone ever tell you, you sound like beldar?
Good review.. thank you.
Seems perfect for LVP. Dont even have to get up to go to the saw or drag around a big jiggy..............we dont use cheap LVP that snaps with a blade.
That’s exactly what I was thinking too seems like it would save plenty of time
Hi. I saw your video and love the 3in cutter tool. Can you let me know where you purchased that foldable table you have in this video, I need one like your portable table.
dewalt makes it
The table stole the show
I am so happy to buy this after I returned the Ridgid tool which is not that good.
Diablo does make a blade that will fit that saw.
I love this tool, I had been replacing my 12" wire shelves in our closets and putting in 16" & 20" wire shelves I used this tool to cut my shelves OMG so easy to work with, in closets that have multiple shelves in it I can get all the shelves cut in no time as compared to a hacksaw or a reciprocating saw. Just a note the DeWalt metal cutting blade is a much better and longer lasting blade then the DIABLO blade, lasts so much longer
What model is this?
Thank you for the video. A question for you, what is the folding work table that you are using? It looks great.
Dewalt table
@@LandbergTileTV many thanks from down under!!
I own only 1 cordless Dewalt tool. Its a Brushless 1/4 sheet sander. Beautiful tool. I want to buy 1 or 2 more cordless dewalts but I cant find another Dewalt tool that I prefer over Makita or Bosch. (I have shied away from potentially dangerous tools like angle grinder and circular saws altogether.)
Prefer Bosch too
Milwaukee makes a really similar version that I’ve used for quick cuts when I don’t want to go set up my corded grinder
I’m sure this comment will get flagged by the Dewalt nazis.
I've reviewed that 12V Milwaukee cut off tool 3 years ago. Great little unit, but power is nothing compared to this 20v
@@LandbergTileTV ya Joe the tool guy compared the Milwaukee and dewalt the dewalt came out on top
Cordless.... 60v grinder my friend.
What is the price of that? And how to buy it? I'm from Indonesia
How Strange, I done a web search and can’t find this product anywhere?
The Dewalt cutoff tool is hands down the best on the market.
If you are cutting steel piping or uni-strut go with a porta ban
can it do wood? I dont see any blades for wood. Sometimes I want to cut some quick wood poles, dowels etc. Or should I find a different tool?
Sincere question... Are the cuts that you make using this tool on tile of "acceptable" quality to the eyes of an average customer? Or is this tool more of a niche thing for making quick cuts that will be hidden by something like an escutcheon, cover plate, etc?
Making a quick cut
How much that one
I was wondering about the fold out table your using possible link?👍
Just added the LINK to the description of the video, click on "more" below the video.

Any chance you could review Rubi 45degree trowel?, please.
This one? Rubi Notched Trowels 45 Degree Rubiflex Open Handle
@@LandbergTileTV yes, that the one. Thanks
Do Bosch ! !
Go Berg!
Probably would help the dust extraction if the dust shroud was contacting the material.
I'm sure that It's plenty of a Beast at 20v.
I love my Red 3" Cutoff but without a 6ah battery its not so hot.
P. S.
Dremel & Diablo have Blades.
I have tried all batteries with my Milwaukee and still frustrating stalling all the time, and I’m going to put it on eBay. I also have the Dewalt and it’s never stalled with a powerstack battery or a 2.0. The Dewalt makes the Milwaukee look like a toy.
The Diablo blades are ok, but I find they get chewed up real fast. Milwaukee blade isn’t good at all. The Dewalt blade that came with the tool lasted the longest out of all 3.
@@akaredcrossbow It is only 12v. The others you mentioned are 18 so....
@@reddbeard2030 I have some Milwaukee 12v tools that outperform some 18v tools. I have some great Milwaukee 12v tools that do the job just like an 18v.
The point is the Milwaukee 12v cut off isn’t even worthy to be sold at Harbor Freight, and shouldn’t be sold anywhere. It should be pulled from the shelves and redesigned. I don’t say bad things about Milwaukee tools, but their 3”cut off tool is a big fail.
@akaredcrossbow 😲
I hear you.
I wasn't impressed at first but I found its niche doing quick cuts for tile work.
I was already on the platform so I made do.
why you turn off volume during record cutting, is it too loud?
yes, too loud for sure
Sangat menarik
The reverse feature = SOLD.
I like it
Do you think it would be possible to use this against a straight edge like a skilsaw while still being able to see the line for notch cuts?
Yes I do, against the dust shroud metal plate
@@LandbergTileTV That's perfect, I've been wanting something like this for a while now. Thanks
Speed square is great for that
Not available in Europe yet.
Basically a smaller version of my grinder
The king of them all is any with an AC line cord!
Прекрасен циркуляр.
It's cool but we all have four and a half inch angle grinders so unless you do tile all day everyday I couldn't see buying it it would be better if it fit a four and a half inch blade
I agree. They should have made it 4” or 4-1/2”.
I am thinking about getting one to cut Hardy siding.
or the 4 1/2 cordless circular saw
@@FixthisCD I have the 4.5 and it works great I absolutely love that saw for cutting Siding, but I have not seen anyone use this saw for Siding so now I want to try it. Lol
Look into a guillotine for that. It makes hardie so much more enjoyable and safe to work with. Unless you're needing something for rip cuts in which case a circular or table saw with pcd toothed blades are the way to go hands down
@@slayerspam I don't do Siding much but mostly windows and doors but often have to cut the Hardy Siding to replace windows.
DeWalt has a cordless hardi cutter. It kinda looks like a reciprocating saw with shears and it works great with no dust
Nice tool, too bad it doesn’t connect with my dewalt shop vac. Aye, seriously who at dewalt would make that decision. “Let’s make a dust extractor that doesn’t connect to our vac without an adapter.”
How loud is it? As loud as a vacuum?
Not as loud as a shop vac
Have more Milwaukee tools than other brands, but doesn’t mean I’m Milwaukee only. Imo, ya get the best tool available for price can afford at time needing; so, the Milwaukee cut-off at the time……was a good 3” m12 saw.
That said, this DeWalt 3” cut-off beats the bageezises out of that “now” poor m12 Milwaukee 3” cut-off.
So, if looking for a great 3” cut-off and not in DeWalt; I’d go for it, as good way to enter the platform and it really is a better saw over the Milwaukee 😱, yep, I said it (will probably be my first DeWalt Battery tool, lol).
Cheers and liked this vid, especially the noise “editing”👍🏻
✌🏻
How well does it cut wood ?
This does not cut wood
@@LandbergTileTV What do you recommend as far as a small cordless powertool for wood cutting?
@@andrewampaya124 Dewalt has a 12v small circular saw that is small and safe.
Got a link to the tool? Can’t find it lol
I bought it at Lowes, Home depot also has it
Nice tool but did you notice that the markings that indicate direction of rotation are wrong?
Is there a blade for wood?
I don't think so

Awesome! Great video to teach newbies and amateurs how to lose a finger or injure themselves w the lack of safety precautionary measures. :)
Omg. Theyre getting smaller and smaller. Question. Will this guy replaces an angle grinder?
I just use a diamond blade on my 6" dewalt angle grinder simple a quicker
Cooling
yes, needs a wet sponge
my 4" angle grinder is fine
I’m so glad I was really worried
