As the Chromebook market has evolved, the number of new screen sizes, resolutions, and aspect ratios has only increased. At this point, there are Chrome OS devices anywhere from 10-inches up to 15.6-inches, 720p to 4K, and everything in between. And that’s to say nothing of extended displays and Chromeboxes outputting to a vast variety of external monitors.
With all these variations in place at this point, Chrome OS requires the ability to actively scale the entire interface to work on different displays. Thankfully it does this quite well, and there's a quick way to change the setting as you see fit.

I already tried that and all it does is shrink the print on the page: it doesn't adjust the screen to fit the window. Chromebooks are just the worst. I thought it was just going to be a bit of relearning and adjusting. I'm no technophobe: hell, I usually enjoy getting my computer geek on. But this is just rubbish. I can't do documents unless I use the cloud; which makes everything I write public domain, so don't type up any stories you're hoping to publish, and I wouldn't type up any business accounts either. Plus it's open to attack from hackers. OK, thinks I,just improvise and use this for emails and watching Amazon, BBC iplayer or whatever. But no, trying to get the screen to fit is like I'm demanding the World! I can't put on an adblocker on RUclips. I can't get this type to spell-check. There is an additional keyboard on the right of my screen as I write; that I don't need, and can't get rid of. I'm even struggling to move the screen down so that I can click the comment button. - This is not impatience: Chromebooks are an expensive waste of money. Stick to laptops.
Getting back to 100% is easier with a keyboard shortcut

I’ve been a subscriber for a while now. I normally Like all videos that I watch just to help the RUclips algorithm to give the channels I watch the exposure I think the deserve.
However I rarely read or leave comments. I just don’t have the time or screen real estate on my phone (which is where I watch most of my videos).

This is really handy! I run into this problem every time I need to remote into my windows desktop displaying at 1080p. With the chromebook at a lower resolution, It would cut off the edges and I'd have to scroll.

Is this really a screen resolution change? When you change the resolution on a monitor to a lower resolution the picture get blurry more and more as lower the resolution gets. But on the chromebook screen its crystal sharp no matter what resolution you change it to. So i guess its just a scale not a resolution change.
"ctrl shift 0" brings you also back to 100%

This doesnt change the actual resolution though, anyway to change/lower the actual resolution? I have the 2020 galaxy chromebook with 4k display.
You said that your screen was a certain resolution. Where did you go to find out that information? I can't figure that out!

This was helpful. I am 74 and need all the brightness I can get. I put the brightness on the highness said never to the night screen. The screen has a pale/dullness. I'm not sure how to search this to fix the problem. The Chromebook is an Acer. I just bought it. I use two Chromebooks at a time. I don't have this promble with my HP.

My Chromebook screen is awful. It comes with the opaque non glare screen that washes out all the colors. Can I switch this screen / glass out with gorilla glass ? I can't use my computer the way it is now. Finding the right angle is like a space shuttle launch.
The screen is so big, including the curser, and the shift/ctrl will not reduce it, so I cant get to settings?

this isn't actualy changing the screen resolution, it's scaling the window contents.

CTRL + SHIFT + '-' to get a smaller screen resolution is working on English keyboards. CTRL + SHIFT + '+' to get a larger screen resolution does not work on a Swiss German keyboard. What to do now? Google even writes wrongly that the shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + '+' would do that job in its official shortcuts list in German. How come?

Hi I am dual booting chromeOS with windows, with some tool not to mention here. But all the android apps get a blur like feel, the more you zoom, the more it affects nice smooth look and things get blury and unpleasent. DO you face the same problem on original chromebooks?

Why does Google set 'Settings' up completely differently in German than in English? We cannot take the learnings here from 'Chrome Unboxed' on our Chromebooks with German keyboards + German settings. They seem to be different ...

Wow, that was just so easy and SO satisfying! I had a document to sign and there was no way I could see all the text and the boxes that needed ticking. They were tantalisingly out of reach ..grrrrr. But after your video they were forced to reveal themselves. Aha...gotcha. Thank you!
I accidentally hit something because my screen is so large, I have to scroll left to right to see everything. Hitting settings, display, etc. just changes the size of the lettering. and images. I still have to scroll left-right, nor do the short cuts address my problem. How do I restore my screen to its original display size so everything is on one screen? Thanks.
I'm at 90% and still too big for my TV screen. I'm connected to my tv via hdmi cable and I have my display mirrored. When I exit mirror mode it allows me to shrink or expand the field size and crop what I want to see, but can't control mouse on tv screen.

My new ASUS Chromebook C434 came this morning about an hour ago, I'm using it now. Is there a way to adjust the color settings? It seems to have too much yellow and not enough red. Still trying to decide which version of the Pixelbook to get. Which model would you recommend? I don't do any coding or anything, but relatively heavy browsing and would like to stream some games eventually with Stadia or Steam from my desktop.

I mean sure that's one way.... I've always been a fan of just increasing the various font sizes and even changing fonts (which you can also easily do in Chrome) and leaving everything else alone. But that's just me. My thinking is I just want to be able to read something clearly...if it's imbedded video or whatever it doesn't really make a difference because how big does someone need a play button? And you can adjust the screen size anyways manually if need be. That way things like video playback are at native and the best quality your given monitor can provide.
Great video, man. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for the Facebook app on Chromebook. It enlarges slightly, but I still have to strain the hell out of my eyes to read or type. Have you got any ideas on how I can improve the display for it?

Great tip. I recently setup my new Asus Chromebox with my 65 inch TCL TV in my living room and discovered that you can adjust the resolution of the contents within the Chrome browser, AND adjust the resolution of the Chrome OS overall.
2 minutes of waffle to get to 1 second process that didn’t work anyway.
