We took a trip to Walter & Verna Zill's to see how their mango trees are coming along! Their season hasn't quite started, but many of their trees have a great fruit set!

My Amy is loaded second year in a row. Last year they got picked off by rats, but I'm going to fight back this year and likely pick them a tad early

Darn hood rats, they get at so much so do their cuter cousins the squirrels. My Peach Cobbler flowered looked like it might set fruit but it all dropped. It is still a young tree though and in a pot. I might sell it and go get one of Walter’s.

We have mango trees on our property in jamaica that are more than 100 yrs old the trunks are massive also is the tree we just start trimming them back now

what variety are you growing in jamaica?

We have a variety called robin and common mango or stringy don't know the real names we have turpentine blue mango and green skin then we have Julie and bombay and east indian recently planted

What do you guys do about squirrel eating your fruit

We do not have much issues with it. There is some fruit loss, but we also have a couple doggies that like chasing them that can climb trees!
