This video helped me tremendously! I was really scared and had doubts about getting into UT since I wasn't top 6%, but I came across this video and took your advice. I received my acceptance letter back in January and got accepted as a RTF major. Super excited to go to UT in the fall!
I wasn't expecting to come across as video this personal and helpful! I work for my school's newspaper and want to study journalism at UT. Amazing work and congrats!
im so dumb. i literally have a 3.0 gpa. but im going to a community college to really bump that number up. so hopefully that helps me lmao. BUT CONGRATS!!!
@@mikalahgayle9331 i wrote about how cultural experiences influenced me to become a teacher and I connected it to when I was younger and making my stuffed animals be my students😣stuff like that
So i’m literally shaking in my boots. I submitted my application like 3 weeks ago, and I know the process is long. But my stats i thought were low especially for a liberal Arts major. GPA- 3.87 CR- 39/381 EC- Theater, Band, Stuco, Student Office, NHS, THS, Broadcast, CollegeBoard’s National Hispanic Recognition Program, Ready Writing UIL Community Service- minimal 33 hours (I didn’t submit my SAT cause they were god awful) But this video kinda calmed me down, UTA is my dream school and with the high expectations that’s online it makes it hard to believe i have a chance. But really thank you.
Thank you so much for this comment! It really makes me feel happy and like it was worth it for me to make this video if it can help people feel at least a little bit better. Best of luck to you, I hope you get in!!
this video really helped me! UT is my dream school and tbh i’m a bit nervous about ever applying there. i started going to an online high school after 2020 so i don’t have a rank and my school doesn’t provide ap classes 😓 im reallly hoping i even have a chance.
thank you for this it was so reassuring!! i've been worried that i may not get in because my ecs are lacking in volume, but i'm hoping they make up for it in substance. i also had slightly higher stats so hopefully that will compensate.
According to Google, ut accepts 90% from Texas and 10% from the rest of the world. She said she is in state, common!! you can’t compare if you are out of state
So I have 1320 sat and 3.5 gpa with extra-curriculars of: Uil academics science team captain, deca state qualifier, band, and software house(coding club). Volunteer: local church, food drive, and school for the youth. Still working on essay tho.
So sorry for the late response! That looks like a good combination of academic and extracurricular! Hope the essays go well! Of course it also depends on the number of applying students and what major you’re applying for.
Thank you so much for this video! UT is my dream school but I know my competition is heavy due to being out of state. I want to apply to Moody as well, but as an Advertising major. I think I’m strong academically, but I’m steadily working on building my extracurricular résumé.
Hi Keyla! So sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you but yes i'd love to talk about journalism! I really enjoyed the journalism classes i took my first year I really learned a lot about everything journalism. In the fall we take a 'fundamental issues in journalism' class that goes back to the beginning of journalism throughout history and we learn a lot of the fundamentals about being a true and successful journalist. In the spring we take a 'digital storytelling' class that was so amazing and had a lot of engaging projects and we learn more about modern day digital journalism. I have loved being a journalism major at UT the students and the professors are fantastic!
Hi ! Im currently a junior and hope to be at UT 1.5~ years from now and I’m hoping to get into the school of Liberal Arts! Here are my stats pls lmk if you have any suggestions as to what to do ! Gpa : 3.87 SAT : 1380 ECs: Speech and Debate - otw to competing for state NAHS SHS STUCO Austin Accelerated (tutoring club0 SFA (33 volunteer hours) black student union Science Olympiad Sports : Varsity choir 2 hrs Varsity Debate I also have 3 years of job experience and a substantial internship as an assistant manager Do you think I should revamp/focus on anything D:?? I’m v stressed
Wow, yeah sometimes things don’t work out how you’d expect. I hear about people with similar backgrounds that don’t get in either. It’s competitive and doesn’t always make sense.
I have a 1360 sat and I will have a top 10% rank and a decent gpa of a 3.7 or 3.8. However my extracurriculars are very meek; I might be the founder for a club senior year and do nhs, Mu alpha theta, and volunteering at the local library. From what I’ve seen my weakness is my extracurricular activities but I really want to do electrical engineering at ut Austin. Is it not possible because my extracurriculars aren’t as strong? The engineering school at ut is also so competitive so idk. I will be doing 9 ap classes by the time I graduate including AP Physics 2 and calc bc (planning right now but if it is too hard I could do ab instead) but yeah my extracurriculars are really bad compared to everything else. I’m a junior so is it too late to do extracurriculars now? I was online my entire freshman year because of Covid so I never got the opportunity to get into a club that year and by sophomore year I was trying to fix my grades (I didn’t do amazing while I was online learning) really it was because of Covid that I couldn’t start extracurriculars in the beginning. Will the college understand that or will they just say it’s my fault? I really don’t know. My second option would be A&M if I was rejected from ut but I really like it it looks like a good school.
Hello! So sorry for the late response. I don't think it's too late to be getting into extracurriculars! Especially given the circumstance of Covid. I would imagine many other high school students are in very similar situations to you and college admissions should understand this. This is also something you can write about in your essay! Wish you the best of luck!
@@AbbyMendezyeah I saw that I can elaborate on Covid in my application. I’ll definitely talk about how it affected me. I am working on the extracurriculars, might get a leadership position in the space and aeronautics club and I’m gonna start another one with my engineering teacher. I’ll just get better test scores like 1400+ sat and I’ll do the act. Definitely worried about butchering the essays though. I’m usually good at writing essays but when I’m working on my application I’m just so scared I’ll make a trash essay or that I’m doing something wrong I just can’t 😭 Also I’m trying to do engineering which is way harder to get in for. I have a shot at UT so I’ll try but if not I can just go to Texas A&M or the closest uni to where I live (university of Houston)
hi, i have a quick quiestion. I am applying for ut summer 2023, with applytexas, and when i want to choose my college, it only show college of liberal arts, college of tech , etc etc, and there is no option for moody college of communication, the college that i want to go to. what do i do?
