I have had two interships (One at University of Utah Natural history meusem, and one for a farmers market by my house) I have some extra circulars espeically a lot of environmental ones ( Lobbying, clun at highschool, working with Fridays for the future). Hey! Hmmm, I’m not sure! I had pretty good stats/extracurricular activities in high school and my scholarship award was not a lot considering how expensive it is for me as an out-of-state student to attend UW. A lot of my friends also had extremely good high school stats, both as in-state and out-of-state students, and didn’t get scholarships. To the best of my knowledge, I don’t think UW has a lot of entry-scholarships (like while you’re applying as a senior), but they definitely have options available once you get accepted to the school!

    Do u think an unweighted 4.0 gpa, full time running start, 2 years of sports, no extracurriculars, and no SAT enough to get accepted?

    • @jessicastarsinspace2563
      @jessicastarsinspace2563  2 года назад +3

      Your GPA and running start are good assets, but I do think you’d be a more attractive applicant if you showed a longer commitment to your sports (e.g. 4 years). No extracurriculars is also a turn off to UW’s admission team since they look at your application holistically (meaning they consider more than just your GPA and the classes you take). I’d also recommend taking the SAT/ACT if it can aid your application (e.g. if your score is high, it’s probably best to include it in your application). Your competition includes the people that apply to UW that have an unweighted 4.0 gpa, full time running start, but also have stayed committed to extracurriculars/sports and have shown a good score on the SAT. I still think you have a chance though, since UW’s overall acceptance rate is not super competitive in comparison to other schools or in comparison to UW’s specific majors. I wish you the best of luck! Update me on how it goes :D

    When I moved to the United States I did not know what the gpa was, just in my junior year I realized what it was, now I'm too stressed because I really want to get into uw, but I don't know where to start, how to start, where to look, I tried to talk to my counselor but I couldn't understand, my GPA is low and I honestly don't think I can achieve it. Do you think you can give me some advice? :c

    • @jessicastarsinspace2563
      @jessicastarsinspace2563  2 года назад +1

      You can get into UW even with a low GPA! I have seen many people do it before. Do not stress! Focus on why YOU specifically would be a great addition to UW. You can do this by writing an interesting and captivating personal statement (essay) that shows who you are as a person.
      Where/How to start: look at UW’s website for application deadlines (you can search up “UW freshman application deadline” on Google) -> fill out your application -> write an unforgettable personal statement
      Hope that helped! Let me know if you have any more questions :)

    Hello I have never commented before but I just wanted to ask that I’m going into Sophomore year and last year I had about a 3.4 GPA without any extracurricular activities since there was a lot of things happening in my life. If I were going to UW will my freshmen GPA weigh me down a lot? If so how can I do better in the new year?

      Don’t worry! You don’t need a bunch of extracurricular activities to get accepted into college! Your G.P.A is also good too! Never feel discouraged from applying to schools you really want to go to, even if you don’t think you’ll get in. That was one of my biggest regrets! • @jessicastarsinspace2563
      @jessicastarsinspace2563  2 года назад

      Overall GPA! Though if you are applying for a specific major, they’ll look at the subjects that correspond to that major too! For example, if you want to be a STEM major, they’ll probably place more emphasis on your GPA in math and science classes over your GPA in English. Hope that helps!

    I’m a freshmen in Washington, and close to graduating to my next sophomore year, I’m walking away my freshman year with a 3.9 and and wondering how can I get better grades, how can I get extra credit for the next 3 years, I’m thinking about taking more AP classes such as world history, English, or any other. I am a 3 season student athlete. I play Football, I wrestle, and do track. My dream college is going to UW and I wanna go there as I do my dream sports too. Any advice?

    • @imyeos
      @imyeos Год назад

      my dream college was udub too. i was a senior last year and got admitted, so im an incoming freshman.
      i’m in state, running start, and overall gpa is 3.5. i had a 4.0 freshman and sophomore year but my grades tanked bc of running start & bad mental. i’m from a really small town so i took zero aps and did not submit my sat score. as for extracurriculars, i did orchestra for 2 years and did a year of tennis. my stats are pretty average, even below average you could say. i truly believe that the essay is the most important factor in your application.
      this is gonna sound cheesy but literally just write about something memorable to you that impacted you

    Do you think I can have to opportunity to apply to UW if I improve my GPA scores? (Here are my GPA scores - Freshman Year (3.083) 2019-2020 // Sophmore year (2.723) 2020-2021 // and I'm currently I'm a junior in Shelton high school with a rank of a 2.830 GPA 2021-2022) I'm highly disappointed in failing to get the same GPA score or better than my freshman year, and im hoping to do better next year. The thing is that im not sure if they will accept me because of my low GPA scores and grades on my high school transcript. Please, what do you advise me to do?

    • @jessicastarsinspace2563
      @jessicastarsinspace2563  2 года назад +1

      Hey Lorenza! You should apply anyway, regardless if you think you’ll get accepted or not! I don’t think your GPA scores are bad at all, and UW’s admission team will understand given that classes generally get harder as the years go on in high school! UW’s admission team looks at your application as a whole rather than just your GPA, which is great news for your case! Try and bring that GPA up, but most importantly, focus on those personal statements! That’s where you truly shine!

  • @Sendboi
    @Sendboi Год назад +1

    “I didn’t do super well on the act” bro you got a 32 lol
    Anyways I had a 24 and still got in. Granted this didn’t matter because I went to a different undergrad school, but I still got into UW Grad school even with a 3.5 gpa and was offered a $50,000 scholarship. And I got into Pratt and RISD but that’s besides the point
    Colleges don’t just want machines they want people who have genuine interests.
    Getting into college is more than just saying the right things in your personal essay and having the perfect GPA or the perfect ACT score.
    Play the stats game if you have to, but also spend time finding out what you’re genuinely interested in doing with your life and then tell them that!!

    • @jessicastarsinspace2563
      @jessicastarsinspace2563  3 года назад +1

      Technically, the UW has the right to withdraw the offer of admission to anyone if you fail to maintain satisfactory grades in your second semester courses of senior year, but as long as you do that, then you’re pretty much guaranteed your offer with your acceptance letter. Hope that helps!
