    I just quit my job at a nursing home where I worked for a year. When I say TOXICITY, I am literally screaming toxicity from across the room. Bullying, backstabbing, unsafe practice, quick to replace you if you’re ever ill and more. I couldn’t take it anymore and I literally just quit on them (effective immediately). I feel free and ready to start a brand new journey. Long term care sucked for me. Never again! Thanks for sharing. You really touched on EVERYTHING I went through!

    I agree with everything she said and I work here in Va. I just couldn’t wrap my head around why the conditions were that way. Now I’ve just accepted it. It’s spiritual wickedness. The love of money over the love of people. The residents as well as the nurses are being neglected and abused. I feel so sorry for the residents bc they are already in less than desirable conditions but I have to go because I should be on the brink of tears and feeling stressed out when at work and on my days off bc I have to go back. I actually have to pray for relief from my anxiety. It’s so sad. Maybe some of us can rise up and buy some of these places and turn things around.

    I'm also in CA. You pretty much nailed every facility I've ever worked at. I loved my patients, but I hated the setting and quality of care. In an effort to make things better I became a DSD, but hated that even more because the DON hated me and didn't support any of my in-service ideas. It was so stressful. I feel you.

    Nursing home are the worst for patients and staff. Only ones winning are the owners. Idk how Medicaid allows this to continue. They clean up when they know the state is supposed to come, give us proper staffing, then after state leaves…. Poof. It’s all gone. The state gotta know what’s up but they turn a blind eye.
    Gross. We nurses need to boycott these facilities .

    • @charlesking7331
      @charlesking7331 Год назад +2

      State turn a blind eye to Nursing home facilities because some of top state workers is on some nursing home facilities payrolls (Brown Envelope) that makes it easy for them to get away with all their ill-practices.

    • @NurseCsjourney
      @NurseCsjourney  Год назад +3

      See I didn’t even know that! I used to wonder like how are these places still open? We don’t follow any of the rules that state sets yet there so many trashy facilities! It’s crazy

      @@NurseCsjourneyI watched a video/documentary or something of the sort that spoke about how nursing homes are claiming that they don’t have the money to get more staff and are barely breaking even but some companies have been found to be paying companies for supposed services and work done to the facilities but they’re all owned by the same people. I’m pretty sure most of them follow this model and what they do is apparently not illegal yet

    ture, as a cna while in school right now, the snfs i've woked at all had a HORRIBLE atmosphere the nurses and cna's seemed miserable af, i was like what the heckkk haha, hospitals to me feel more professional, the people are less miserable, the vitals machines are provided!

      Funny, many years ago when I was a CNA, we were tasked with doing vital signs at the beginning of our shift, and yes, vital signs machines were provided. Several years later I went back to a nursing home, but as an LVN. My first day I was told that I would have to do my own vitals and it's best I buy my own equipment because their stuff was crappy and unreliable. WTF?

    I know this video was almost a year ago. I have been an LPN for a long time, it is getting worse and worse as time goes on. Literally too many residents to care for, your @ss is on the line every time you accept those keys. After years of abuse, I cannot even work PRN (if i pick up a shift through agency, im worried and anxious about it for over a week) I feel this has destroyed my mental well being. I have started a youtube channel, LOL then I found yours. Thank you for posting this. The truth needs to come out.

    Don’t forget while having 30-40 residents that one confused resident who keeps trying to elope. And heaven forbid the one who actually makes it four blocks away from the facility while you’re busy doing morning med pass😖😖😖😖😖

    I don't like the 4 on 2 off schedule either because you only get a full weekend off (sat/sun) once every 6 weeks. I also don't understand why they haven't transitioned to 12-hour shifts, obviously the day shift would have to carry most of the burden, but overall, it would work better for everyone.

    I worked LTC in 2004 after I graduated school as a RN due to needing 1st shift for childcare reasons. I thought it would be easy/easier as a new grad…girl I lasted 4 months!! I probably got 3 days of orientation. The med pass and treatments were awful. By the time I finished the morning pass, it was time for lunch med pass. Phones ringing off the hook and a DON that just sat in his office. I can only imagine what’s it’s like now, almost 20 years later!! I actually applied for a Infection Prevention/Employee Health job at a 90 bed SNF close to my home and was contacted for an interview…but after this video that just randomly appeared in my feed, I’m going to decline the interview. It’s about to be flu season! Our geriatric population is so much sicker! I don’t want to pulled to the floor (not sure if that’s part of the job) because of staffing issues. Don’t want to be onboarding new staff with PPDs. I vowed never to go back in 2004. It’s crazy to me how these places are ran especially with the acuity level of these patients.

    I really enjoyed your video -- you gave some really great tips! I've been a nurse for almost 10 yrs, and I mostly worked at hospitals. I took a break from the RN world for a while, and considered trying going to a LTC. I did my research and found how low they pay RNs, as you mentioned, and how high the patient ratio is -- so UNSAFE! I have decided to not pursue this route. I am glad I saw your video -- that confirmed my resolve to not work at a nursing home. Hugs! Luciana
    P.S.: you are SO gorgeous!! I wish you all the blessings and success!

    Hair looks so nice👍🏾and 100 on the vital equipment. I’m writing them off on my taxes. One Ltc I work at told us that it’s not the facility’s job to supply vital equipment 🤨

    LTC just has such a negative , dark vibe. I love the patients but I can’t do the large med passes, unsupportive staff, large patient load and overall toxic environment. I am so excited to start ER nursing (level 3 trauma) also so many LTC nurses are so mean and miserable, I didn’t go through nursing school to be like that or work with ppl like that!

    I’m in California also and I just quit my job as an LVN in a nursing facility after being there for one month! No way can I work in an environment with that many patients with only one week training with acute patients and no help whatsoever! My license, the patients’ life and my health was on the line! I prefer working in a clinic, but my employer refused to promote me after several years of employment as an MA to an LVN. Claimed I need experience an LVN first! What tha $”#&! 😠

    WA same, 1 CNA for 20+ with TOTAL dependent residents and 1 LPN for 40+ residents who are chronically and acutely ill just got discharged from Hospital. On Dementia care floor(progressed dementia stage and progressed AD) 1 CNA for 10+ residents, 1 medtech for 23+ residents…..Assisted living? 1 CNA and 1 medtech for 25+ residents.. its ridiculous.
