I used to just tell my unit that their negative attitudes were the reason why they were always short 😌 sorry not sorry
Lol!!
I went into critical care right out of school and was SO nervous about bullying since I was a new grad in a specialty. I was super blessed, I didn’t experience that at all. Everyone was VERY welcoming and supportive and really set me up to be successful. If you’re coming into your first nursing job and are nervous just remember that there’s plenty of units out there with nurses like Lexi!

I miss orienting new grads so much! I switched to NICU from cardiac nursing a year ago so I still don’t feel like I have my toes wet enough to take it on again but I loved doing it on my old floor. It’s gratifying knowing you’re helping a baby nurse grow and flourish into who they’ll become in their careers. They were all like my children.
I currently have a “bully” in my unit that really bothered me greatly when I first started but one day I was assigned as her buddy and I had an admission and she started with the snarky comments and I called her out on it (in a respectful way of course) and she came in the break room later after the shift and told me she actually appreciated me addressing it because it’s something she’s trying to get better at controlling. Lol sometimes you gotta be brave but most of the time it’s not you it’s them
I loveeee that you addressed it!
Bullies are usually insecure in some way.
I have one year left of nursing school and nurse bullying is my biggest fear. I do not like getting out of character, but some of these nurses are rude and impatient.
Sometimes I watch these videos and wonder how many narcissists nurses think their bullying isn't bullying.
Im 19, and i work in retail and was training this new girl (30+ old ). Mind you , I'm really mature for my age. that's why i was entrusted to train her on tills, and i told her that there was no such thing as a "stupid question," and if she had any questions that she should ask me. I felt so proud of myself😅
Bullying happens in almost any field. I work in Corrections and rookie Officers get the same type of bullying. Now that I’m a season Officer I’m very patient with the new Officers because I was once in their shoes. As I transition back into the medical field I will keep this in mind.
Alexis I agree that you may encounter bullying and other issues with any job . However, in nursing it is more of a risk when I am trying to focus on stabilizing my patient and keeping them free from injuries or death and I have negative energy around me that interferes with my thought processes.
Unfortunately unkind people do exist and like you said it’s their issues within themselves.
This is why I will quit a job so fast, without a second thought, if I feel unsupported by staff. I’ve encountered nurses who’d rather make someone look stupid then protect patient safety. It’s crazy
I have definitely experienced nurse bullying. It’s gotten better with experience and I am PRN now so it doesn’t really bother me as much as when I was full time.
Depends on the situation for me. As a black male nurse working with a bunch of Caucasian women, I usually have to invole a 3rd party which is usually a manager.
I briefly worked (licensed) at 2diff facilities, running into 'mean girl' bullying right away. 1st one accused me of abuse after 6wks (w/o police! B.S.!); 2nd pulled me into the office, 6wks again, & told me to my face, "you're a know-it-all that knows nothing", insulting me to my face! I quit each at the end of my shift(s) and went back to my old field.
I delight when I hear about the shortage & the stress nurses are under! I have absolutely no sympathy for them! I sincerely hope that they are so overworked that they never see their loved ones again!
I am a new grad nurse but 50 years old. Yes, nurses bully us older ones too. I just have had decades of life experience and I basically feel like I will ignore negative people or just move . I have no issues letting management know either ... I can't understand why on one hand , nurses bitch about being short-staffed but then gossip, badmouth and are just mean to new staff!! I literally showed up for first shift and the entire unit was miserable. So shocker: they can't keep staff.
I loved being a NICU nurse & started in NICU as a new grad. I left due to “ nurse bullying “ but mainly not wanting to help. Getting mad when you help. Watching you crash and burn and look at you like your stupid if you don’t know what to do , and that with the awful rotating schedule , I decided to leave NICU nursing .. as this was also my dream job !
youre so nice. thank you for caring
Thank you for the info. Thank you for caring.🙏🥰
I’m dealing with this right now at work. It’s the expectation at this point that if someone walks around the corner everyone starts talking about them. It’s caused terrible workplace anxiety for me :( I’m tired of mean girl nurses and cliques. If I wasn’t locked into a contract I’d leave.
Thanks for speaking on this topic!!!!!! Btw u r looking fabulous 💞
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you for your video. ❤
This is a great video ❤ thanks for sharing
I love nurses, I have many illnesses and I've been in the hospital many times, so I love a nurse who's compassionate but very knowledgeable and confident in herself, as a nurse I don't want to have to feel like I'm second-guessing the nurse. Let's face it nurses run the hospital not doctors❤
This happens in phlebotomy spaces. Had a charge talk about me to a donor while I was there 🙃
A little conversation about your travel to New York. I want you decide very fast. You don't need to prepare or change nothing hanny. I'll do all that after I'm start working. I need a companionship. Can you be that person in my life🎉❤
You look beautiful!!
🇺🇸
Are you still working Night Shift?
I’m on days!
@@TheNurseNook ugh girl, I need to get myself on days. I’ve been on Night Shift for 2 years now and I think I’m ready for the day time craze lol
❤❤❤
Amour, I was neglected you sometimes between these 3, 2 days. Not because something changed about us. But, we done that, just for us to teach you how hurt we had been from your abscent. We felt you neglected us somehow. You increase our hours with friends without us. That mean neglected us. I can't do nothing about it. To make you closer to me now. If there is no concensus between us. So, who's come first and pick me up. I left your areas very long times cherie. Now, you just start a new school you don't have times. So, What's can we manage later?
I don't know nothing now. So, what's your decisions to join you there. Or, are you prefer to live alonely where you are now cherie?👂👂🤔💦💑
Oooo I’m first🎉❤
I’ve always told new nurses and nursing students that if you can’t stand up to the bullies then it’s best to maybe get out of the profession. If you can’t let them know how it is to their face then you’re gonna get ate up. I’ve told many older nurses that they need to step away from the field for themselves and for other nurses and the reaction they have is hilarious lmao some people can’t stand the truth.
😂
Alexis you remember me
