Heating my topper camper with a 3kw Chinese diesel heater. Heater has a very low power draw after let of .5 volts. Powered by a 12 volt car battery the heater can run all night no problem. Heat settings are 1-10 with 1 being the lowest. On low it keeps the truck about 70° with no problems.
NO carbon monoxide to worry about. The diesel exhaust is pushed outside and not in the camper. The fan pushes cab air over aluminum fins from the combustion chamber then is used to heat the camper. Works like a hair dryer.
Great add on to any camper or work shop. Easy to install and works great . Better than using a electric heater or propane.

How can you sleep with that annoying clicking sound from the fuel pump?🤔🤔👀👀

@@koldosodupe9363 Right now the truck is empty and the sound can spread. Loaded, under the bed has totes and the bed has lots of blankets plus pillows. You can hear it but it's not as loud as the video. Plus the camera picks up high pitch sounds. It's not as loud as you think.
This heater is is the best for what I'm using it for. You will not get cold guaranteed!

Your combustion air intake the one with the filter should be mounted outside because if the heater flames out carbon monoxide can come back out from the burn chamber.
Very dangerous if you are asleep when it happens.

No it doesn't matter. Look how it works and you'll understand. Fan and blower are on the same driveshaft. Shaft is always moving. After shutdown the blower runs until unit cools down. About 2 minutes last I checked

Hi Carl, I also have a 2008 Silverado and am installing a diesel heater. I've been struggling with how to do the install, not wanting to bore holes in the floor of truck bed. So I was very interested to see how you did yours through the side panel. Did you make one giant hole or just drill separate holes for the exhaust and combustion air tubes? Any regrets about doing it this way, or any suggestions on how I might do mine? Any problems or issues I should look out for?
    Thanks, Jim

Hi James, I've been very happy with the diesel heater. With mine I drilled out each hole plus a few more. The diesel heater comes with a steel plate with all the holes you will need. Fuel line must be on top not on the bottom. Basically copying the template. If you use a step-up bit it makes things a lot easier. The other holes I added are for the fuel line and combustion inlet filter. The air that is burned is sucked from inside the cab not outside. The heater will last longer if it uses clean air.
Think I'll makes another video showing more closer look and where I drilled. Location is great! Love the heater very simple to use and maintain. The fuel pump does make a small tick but I like it. Let's me know it's working. Heater is very fuel efficient. Fuel tank lasts for at least five nights.

When temps are close to 0° sometimes I'll have to start the truck to get the heater to light. Probably need a better battery for lot temps but keeps it going for 8+ hours easy.

How did your heater install go? Did you drill holes or go another way

Can you do an experiment for me? Buy a Stirling engine and see if the heat source from the cheap Chinese Diesel heater will run a Stirling generator and make electricity.

Good idea! I could keep the battery charged with a sterling engine!

That's a good idea where to mount the heater. It won't works so well with my plastic box liner.

You can have the heat outside the camper with the hot air blowing in. Air temp is about 220° you won't lose heat

The 2KW is the same as the 5KW heaters, just LESS efficient and slightly smaller in size.....ruclips.net/video/mKN2isuA7Gc/видео.html

2kw size fits better in the space. My dad has the 5kw and it's a little to big. Heater hits the wheel tube.

      The 2kw does 2-5kw and the 5kw does 5-8kw

After 5 months of testing. The 2KW doesn't do great at high altitude. I'm thinking about getting the 5kw. Low altitude it lights up very quickly. With cold weather camping it's a good idea to keep the battery in the topper, out of the cold. Frozen battery doesn't do well. Warm battery will last for 10 hours at any speed for heat. Small fuel tank can last 4 nights easy. Other than that no issues, very happy!

Just in case there is some sort of a carbon monoxide leak and it doesn't go outside, or finds it way in from the outside, you should install a carbon monoxide alarm inside the camper. Those are very cheap, they are battery operated you can get them at any hardware store like Lowe's or Home depot.
