I have 2 bli a fef and blue goose. I used the small recommended oil fill rate which I think is 6 drops max or something like that in the bli manual. Right away brand new I had problems the smoke quit working. I opened up the unit and found the oil media was slightly chared on top indicating it was dry. Scraped off the char and put back together. experimenting I found I have to use way more oil than you state like 20 drops if I remember right. No overflow and the fan works fine. But even with the 20 drops the oil is burned quickly very quickly there is no runtime with the smoke unit you have to babysit and keep adding oil. Your element is way to hot this is the problem. You should have a slow stead heat and have to wait for the unit to warm up. The fact that this thing reaches smoking temp instantly is a no no I bet that element is way to hot. from what I've seen dries the pads out in 2 minutes.
@@frankbed hi I believe the correct size was 6mm on eBay. The shaft was slightly longer than the oem one but I simply dremeled them shorter. It is not too difficult but there is a chance the boiler can crack if you man handle it too much. If you’re lucky there are two screws that screw into the front of the boiler weight inside that attach the unit. You will have to pull out the wiring with the unit and this can be the hardest part to put back in since they is very little room. Good luck!
I have UnionPacific #844 FEF locomotive and i was wondering....how do i empty smoke fluid from the smoke unit?....do i let it sit idle i let is smoke itself out till no more smoke is coming out? and then put more fluid in?
So my HOK4 streamline has a manual turnoff for the smoke but when I turned it off, it kept producing smoke. Then the engines started acting up lights going out. What should I do?
You guys seriously need to offer DCC-ready versions. Your models are beautiful, but I am not ordering your models because of the decoder. People don’t want Paragon, and there is no way you guys don’t know that at this point.
You could also get a stealth series Broadway engine but that’s just a QSI engine with an 8 pin DCC ready board so you’ll have to deal with broken gears but they do normally send you the parts for free
@@TheUnionPacificGuy I was after a Blieline Big Boy for a while, & found one on ebay.I put a really good decoder in it & is by far one of thee best locos I have, touch wood. & last count well over 300 locos.
Hello. I don't know if you already answered this. But I'm really curious about where you can buy that smoke generator? Because I am developing something in Denmark that requires a small smoke generator that I can plug into an H0 model. I don't know if you can help me with this?
Hi there! Generally speaking we do not sell our parts for kitbashing or sell parts as "spares" unless it's something we have a ton of. This because we get a limited amount of parts that we need to reserve for warranty repairs - that is our service departments' primary role. Our repair technician's also need them for paid repairs. If you have any more questions, you can contact our service department here: bliservice.com
Their problem is this unit is too easy to damage and then causes the loco stop to move. Really pity to have good and beautiful detail but bad quality control.

MTH makes the best smoke unit in ho o gauge to hands down
I have 15 BLI steam locos and have had 3-4 smoke units fail. The motors crapped out. I simply installed pager motors and they work perfect.
Cann you provide mre info on pager motors. Price, part number and source!!

Blueline is sort of like dcc-ready
It runs on dc and when you put a decoder in it it has dcc

Apparently BLI does not sell them on their own. I read a reply from them that says they recieve a limited number of them, for use in repairs.
