Shanks has always been a swordsman to me. Even when he was a kid, he always used a sword. I know people like to claim that Shanks primary means of fighting is haki, but that goes the same for swordsmen. Haki is key for swordsmen as well. We decided he has to have it in order to cut Kaido because Zoro is touching Oden’s tip of the iceberg power level and we know Mihawk has to be above Oden. Also, anyone that’s top 10 in the show is assumed to have it. We all agreed upon that. He most definitely does. Zoro wouldn’t fight another swordsman for a title that’s endgame if he didn’t.

Meh. We know literally nothing about these characters full abilities and power levels. One thing I can say tho is that Zoro’s endgame is Mihawk (probably if Shiryu doesn’t kill him for plot) and that we don’t know anything about Shanks’ power but that he is a swordsman and he has the most influence over the world after whitebeard died. But from all we know there’s only one thing you can say, in terms of strength, we only know Mihawk is the strongest of swordsman and Shanks most likely has the strongest conquers haki in the series atm. We only know his conquerers level being insane and not other types.
Doesn't make sense narratively for Mihawk to rival a character that doesn't place the same value on swordplay as he does. Also doesn't make sense for Shanks to pursue a rivalry with Mihawk strictly on the basis of swordsmanship if he didn't view it the same. It's more so incredulity on the community's part.

The Yonko title isn't about individual strength, it's simply a title that reflects your political heirarchy amongst pirates, so if you're talking about individual capabilities Mihawk's title is higher than Shanks since his title is purely about individual power whilst Shanks' title is purely about Politics

Obviously the yonkos are about the strongest pirates in the world, but the Yonko title is about crew, territory, influence, all the things mihawk doesn't give a damn about. So if Shanks' strongest and greatest feats has him using his sword and mihawk is the worlds strongest swordsman it is not logical to claim that shanks destroys mihawk in a 1v1.
Based on the narrative and what we know of the two characters, the observation haki of both characters is probably equal, mihawk has much greater armament haki (probably the best in the entire series) but shanks definitely has the strongest conqueror's haki in the entire series.
So in terms of pure power they are evenly matched at best.
But in a 1v1 shanks ain't beating mihawk. Mahn is one of the fastest, smartest and the most skilled fighter in the entire show. To claim that shanks would win based purely on his conqueror's haki is a non valid argument.
Let's be honest, shanks' conqueror's haki probably wouldn't even effect mihawk that much, the man is scared of no one.

I know people like to claim that Shanks primary means of fighting is haki, but that goes the same for swordsmen. Haki is key for swordsmen as well. We decided he has to have it in order to cut Kaido because Zoro is touching Oden’s tip of the iceberg power level and we know Mihawk has to be above Oden. Also, anyone that’s top 10 in the show is assumed to have it.
We all agreed upon that. He most definitely does. Zoro wouldn’t fight another swordsman for a title that’s endgame if he didn’t.

Meh. We know literally nothing about these characters full abilities and power levels. One thing I can say tho is that Zoro’s endgame is Mihawk (probably if Shiryu doesn’t kill him for plot) and that we don’t know anything about Shanks’ power but that he is a swordsman and he has the most influence over the world after whitebeard died. But from all we know there’s only one thing you can say, in terms of strength, we only know Mihawk is the strongest of swordsman and Shanks most likely has the strongest conquers haki in the series atm. We only know his conquerers level being insane and not other types.
Doesn't make sense narratively for Mihawk to rival a character that doesn't place the same value on swordplay as he does. Also doesn't make sense for Shanks to pursue a rivalry with Mihawk strictly on the basis of swordsmanship if he didn't view it the same. It's more so incredulity on the community's part.

The titles are the same way. Whitebeard was not the strongest man in the world at marineford, still held the title. Feats and characters and match ups dictate who wins fights. The Yonko title isn't about individual strength, it's simply a title that reflects your political heirarchy amongst pirates, so if you're talking about individual capabilities Mihawk's title is higher than Shanks since his title is purely about individual power whilst Shanks' title is purely about Politics
