Man do I agree, how awesome would it be if Suzuki made better quads. The ltz400's aren't bad but the 250 was trash comprared to the Honda, unlike their old lt250s' those things were the bomb.
I have two 2018's and put the full HMF exhaust on mine, deleted the smog with a kit from Whitaker Performance out of Ohio and have tried all the jets. The best one is the 110 with the lid off. It will pull the wheels coming out of a turn uphill just throttling, the others felt plugged up and just smooth and like it was starving. I think I will order the jet kit from Duncan Racing to try out the 42 pilot. I know it runs a lot cooler and still goes a long ways on a tank of gas. My wife and I can ride for hours on half tank of gas, granted we are not going very fast through wooded trails and over creeks. I bought these for my kids back Christmas of 17 and they never rode them so we are wearing them out. I put Ricochet skid plates, Smog delete, Rox risers, color matched Progrips, Motorsport Products Sport Bumper and the full HMF exhaust and they will go anywhere I want, no 4x4 needed. Plus they are light and easy to manage if you get in trouble, unlike an 800lb 4x4.
You guys make the best atv videos on youtube..no bias and good information. Another way to make some extra power for your atv for a lot less money,,and never have to repack ever again and run quieter than any HMF, FMF etc. Is, find a sport bike stock slip on that will fit your stock exhaust diameter. They flow much better than stock non supersport bikes and atvs,,and most importantly,,,,they sound good, but much quieter and less people complaining...Repacking is a pain after awhile and having a slip on that adds power with some minor jetting tweaks is a great alternative..You guys should look into what stock super sport slip ons would fit on different model ATV's.! i started doing this when I found out that a Suzuki GSXR 600 stock slip on would fit my Suzuki DR650se. I found one on ebay and took off my Powercore 4 or whatever it was called..lol! Best exhaust mod I have ever done,,nice sound, no packing, and extra power over stock.....Also another tip for you to pass on to your loyal readers...Instead of buying an expensive oversize header pipe for your ATV...Simply buy a bit from Lowe's that allows you to smooth out the header pipe welds where it connects to the engine....Do not overdue it as it could crack down the road..No need to go bigger than a stock exhaust port anyhow...Just marketing BS to make a buck.....thanks for the video on some fun little quads.
@@dumpedclutch8429 I'm sure they made plenty of money off of it because racing teams, and it being a cheaper option to the other 450s it sold well and won plenty of races, and is reliable
You guy made me go out and buy one I primarily ride the Oregon dunes every weekend year round the quads is amazing but so lean and the shaft drive robs power what I have done is gut the spark arrestor and the baffle and still have the cap next is a rejet other that the little honda goes hard it’s not gonna do what a 400 or 450 does but it works for me the spark arrestor baffle delete with a hack saw woke the bike up and no don’t comment oh you need that spark arrestor crap
Great video. I love HMF (even have it on one of my own machines right now) and think they are a quality product. When it comes to the silencers however, everyone should save their money and just buy an exhaust with the appropriate sound decibel that you are comfortable with from the start. I have never found a silencer for an exhaust that isn't ultimately crap.
thats it I'm getting that honda upgrading the exhausts with empire shot gun perfromance kit and nerf tusk bars for that will be my special edition for this year
I got the hmf exhaust for mine and it was well worth it. As far as the jet kit goes I didnt feel much of a power increase between the 100, 105 or 110 jet. However using my speedometer app i did test them all, results as follows 100 topped out at 56, 105 topped out at 58 and the 110 topped out at 55. Needless to say I'm sticking with the 105 jet. Don't get me wrong they all felt great!!! Further more I also noticed that with the hmf exhaust kit plus jet kit and air filter upgrades my 250 didn't run as hot as stock, so really less wear on the motor. Its a little expensive but if you want to keep your 250 for any extended period of time its well worth the money.. any adjustment suggestions let me know.
Honestly its hard to recall beyond what we noted in the video. If we were doing another pipe install on one of these we would call Duncan Racing and ask them if they would sell us one of their TRX250X jet kits for an aftermarket exhaust and no airbox lid.
A.J.'s ATV Repair shop DG does make some good options for smaller options. I think HMF is generally a better option when going for performance.. and this is coming from a guy who has both in the garage right now.
There's a lot of us out here that would love to see you do a similar test with the Honda Recon and perhaps some aftermarket wheels and tires maybe a 1-inch spacer that would be great and worthwhile TV
I got that exhaust system but lately i noticed when I open it up. Sometimes 1st threw 3 gear when I try to stretch the gears out., it act like it bogging. Is that from the jets that was put on it.
hi, yesterday i bought a kawasaki mojave 250. They are good for cross country because as it is heavy it is not good for motocross I ask them where I should start (mods) (this good engine) I would like to buy a raptor 250 but it was not enough.
Congratulations on your new machine. The Mojave had the most sophisticated hi tech engine ever used in a 250 four stroke four-wheeler. Are you looking for some suggestions on modifications? Are you planning on trying to set it up for cross country racing?
Now can I just add this onto my trx250x, without having to tune it or anything like that? Also, is it really loud? Because I would rather have it not be too loud.
ATVonDemand Can you do a small bore utility shootout with Honda Fourtrax 250 , Yamaha Grizzly 350 (2wd) , Suzuki Ozark 250 and Kawasaki Brute Force 300 ? That would be awesome , and I think would get many views since no one ever did one .
DanielSon Drone there was an older 250X that was around until around 1991 that became the 300EX. If memory serves correctly, the 250EX came out in 2001 later becoming the 250X. Strangely enough, the old-school 250X was actually the more high-tech of the two.
Yea it’s fine, if they are still growing then they could tell a difference by how much they can throw the machine around, but it is plenty of height to get off the seat.
If an ATV is capable of pulling itself to Red Line where the rev limiter kicks in increasing horsepower will not increase top speed. It will only increase how quickly it gets to it. The only way you get more top speed is if you gear it up. The 250X is shaft drive so that is not possible.

It might be on the new ones. Mine is a 04. Takes a skinny flat blade to reach it. Turn it in all the way. Then turn it out a turn and a half. Start it and get it to running temp. Then adjust the mixture screw in or out till it reaches its fastest idle. After than readjust the idle and then your done
