- Many people want a new machine and lets face it, there are not that many sport quad options from the dealer these days. Yamaha has 2 monsters costing just over 10k in the Raptor 700 and yfz450. But what about the rider who is new to the sport? or just wants to have some fun on the trail and does not need the power of the 2 offerings from yamaha. well, meet the Honda TRX 250x a fun and reliable low maintenance machine that will bring a smile to the face of any rider. and its half the price of the other 2 sport quads on the market!

The air cooled Hondas will out live us! Just unbelievable reliability!
I agree. Great machines and super fun!
Great video brother! People don’t realize how capable these 250’s are for the price point
Thanks man. 100% agree. If your goal is to just get out have fun, this is the perfect machine 💪🏻
I’m thinking this is the perfect machine for me. I grew up wanting a sport quad so bad but only ever rode my grandfathers Honda 300 utility quad, and man I never had a bad ride. Even on that fortrax 300 I had a blast every single time just being in the woods on the trails exploring. Now I’m 42 with kids and next to no budget and just want a little sportier trail quad. I don’t need a race quad or anything like that, just something with a clutch to have fun on. I way 160 so I don’t over weigh the machine and I used to have a Yamaha v star streetbike that was shaft driven, and I loved not having to do chain maintenance, I could just go ride and as long as I changed the fluids that thing lasted forever until I sold it.
@@robertwest4299 sounds like the perfect machine for you then! I'm about 165 for reference. Change the fluids regularly on this thing and it'll last forever 🤙🏻
I guess the real question is are you considered adult size
Haha were it counts 😂
He was pissing one night by the campfire and it sounded like a donkey was taking a leak! 😬
Great thoughts on this video, and I second everything you say. Im 45 and wanna buy two of these for my wife and I. We ride 50 inch wide trails in the woods and I miss the sport quad experience. Have you ever watched the 250x build the ATV on Demand channel did?
Yes that's a great series! I wouldn't second guess your plan at all. I think you would be very happy with them for your purpose. Thanks for tuning in!
@@OdysseyOffroad If all goes to plan would add wheel spacers and full HMF exhaust.
would you say it’s fast enough ? or quick enough. does it pick up and go quick? what are your thoughts
@@bryannino641 i talk about that in the video quite a bit. It's enough to have fun on the trail.
My buddy has one, these are so much fun!
They really are a blast! Fun little machine. I would relate it to the CRF250f in the dirt bike world. Enough to have a load of fun all day and be comfortable yet not super expensive or too much power that you're going to hurt yourself.
@@OdysseyOffroad absolutely. Plus their manual gearbox allows for more the power to make it to the ground, coupled with that short wheelbase it makes for an incredibly flickable and fun machine. Perfect for the trails on our property in West virginia.
i have a few of these in my shed.... there great!
especially the sport clutch version
@@mikeatv agree, they are really nice little machines.
Great review! Just bought one!!!
I do recommend getting the non-synthetic oil out of there first oil change after just a couple hours and putting some 10w40 synthetic it really helps the shifting and quiets the motor down quite a bit . You'll enjoy it it's great little machine!
Best bang for your buck i have an 06 and if you compare the size to a raptor 700 its pretty much same size and the 250 has enough power
It's not even close to same size as my Raptor 700. The 700 has a 6 inch longer wheelbase and 4 inches wider track width and 4 inches longer and an inch taller. The power is enough to have lots of fun on though but it's not a Raptor and should never be compared to it.
What is the weight and height limit of this machine? Could you let me know what your thoughts are?
For reference i am 5'6 165 lbs. I believe the owner manual says 240lbs weight limit.
calls for 2.9 in the back? thats crazy thats lower they the psi youd usually run on a trike
@@kollinspencer847 i know its silly.
How hard was it to re-jet?
Piece of cake remove the air box loosen the clamp on the intake side and rotate the carburetor enough to get the bowl off
@@OdysseyOffroad Question regarding re-jetting.... I have 2 of these and neither will start. I pulled the carb off of one and set out to rebuild the carb with a new rebuild kit only to find a Welch plug over the pilot/mixing jet. Rebuilt everything else including new gaskets and still wouldn't start. Talked to a local ATV place and they said it is likely the pilot/mixing jet. Any thoughts?
@@leokyla67 when you pulled all the Jets out of the carb as you clean out all of the circuits ? It's probably a clog somewhere inside the carburetor take some carb cleaner squirt it through all the circuits of the carburetor and then use compressed air, then do it again.
looks like you got some nice wide open throttle trails!!
Oh yea there are tons and tons of trails right from my house. It's pretty cool.
What age child would you recommend for this?
@@JohnSalsalito It depends on the size of the kid and their skill level. I wouldn't recommend anything I would leave that up to the individual parents best judgment. But you can watch my other video on this machine and you'll see my son on it he's almost nine
@@OdysseyOffroad thank you
