In this video for our motion tool introduction series for iClone 8, you’ll learn the basics on how to align motions in a few different scenarios. Motion alignment can be useful when you want to tweak the direction of a combination of motions, but it can also be useful when the motions you apply contain different root information. You’ll learn about how to resolve that in this tutorial.

really useful series, thanks! I have a question. Does the fact that the character actually moves or stays in place when, I add a walk cycle animation depends on the animation itself, or is there a way to switch between the two modes?

Is there a simple instructional video for basic no nonsense just making basic turns with a character? Example: Simply needing to turn right, let's say to cross a street. Or, make the character stop and/or turn around and go back the the same way they just came(like they're walking to a store and past it, now need to do a 180 to go back). Or a simple rounded turn into a different direction. I find these videos moving too quickly from thing to an other, could be because as described I don't even have the basic simple direction turns learned very well. Thanks.

how about an extended fight scene with the fighting pack? as soon as you start adding more motion clips the alignment for rotation is all over the place and this doesn't work?? how do you say keep the exact root rotation as the clip before it?

So, I've been doing some shopping around for animation software and I'm definitely sold on the powers of both Character Creator 4 (facial mocap and Character design) and Iclone 8. There are a few concerns that I've had about what I can and can't do, so I'm hoping this comment will grant me a tutorial (or a series of tutorials if possible) that addresses these concerns.
Firstly, if I want to import animations that were made in a different software (for example, Unreal Engine 4, since I plan to use Unreal Engine 5) into Iclone 8, can I do that and still take advantage of all of the motion controls that the software has to offer, or would I have to rebuild animations from scratch?
Secondly, while I love what I'm seeing with Iclone 8, I still want to take advantage of some of the tools and cinematic rendering powers of Unreal Engine 5- so, my question is, can I build a scene (or series of scenes) in Iclone 8, sort out the animation and everything there, then export the scene to Unreal Engine 5 to make further adjustments, or would I have to pick one or the other when it comes to doing films as opposed to video games?
Lastly, I had just recently discovered the existence of World Creator (most recently, World Creator 2022), which I think would pair well with Blender and Substance Alchemist when conceptualizing various areas and environments of the scenes in my films- my question is how would I successfully import those "worlds" into Iclone 8 for scenes, and would it also successfully import into Unreal Engine 5 without me having to make too many additional corrections?
I appreciate any and all feedback that you, or anyone in the comment section can give

Disclaimer: I haven't done all the things I will tell you, but I have done some. I also want to use IC8 and UE5 for filmmaking, not games.
1 - I have seen people importing animations into iClone and CC4 from Unreal. Search for videos, you should get results. Haven't done it myself.
2 - It is very possible to export meshes from iClone as FBX files and import them into UE as static meshes, along with their materials and textures. I have done that.
As for characters and animations, there are two ways I know:
One: Animate inside iClone, export the character and the animation as FBX files and import them into UE5 (haven't done it, but there are plenty of videos)
Two: Use the live-link plugin, which allows you to animate inside iClone and stream the process into UE in real-time (haven't done it either)
Personally, I think I will export the assets I want into Unreal (along with characters and animations) and build my finale scene there, where I will also do the camera/lighting/visual aspects. At least that's what I intend to do. Use IC8 only for pre-viz and animating (its strongest tool).
3 - World creator and Unreal connect very smoothly. I had purchased the older world creator and didn't know what to do with it, until I started using Unreal. You can export worlds from WC into UE using heightmaps and the landscape mode, or export the entire landscape as an OBJ and import it into UE. Both have their pros and cons, I personally prefer the first method, using heightmaps. The texturing can be done in either software. The results of the heightmaps inside Unreal for me is 99% (if not 100%) of what I made in World Creator.
Haven't tried importing landscapes from WC into iClone, and I am not sure what's the point because the final scene will be built in Unreal, so why not export it directly in Unreal?
Feel free to ask any questions, I will answer what I can

@@phoenixstudios7520 I appreciate the response. And to answer your last question, I only really wanted to use Unreal so I can take advantage of their rendering. I was actually hoping to be able to export the camera from Iclone into Unreal Engine 5 (or Twinmotion/both at different times) and essentially record everything in Iclone. Then I could manipulate everything from iclone while still getting what I need from the other two applications.

@@guywglasses3910 I am not sure as I haven't done it, but I believe you can export everything from iClone, along with its animations. Which means you could export the camera and its movements as well. So it could be possible to build the entire scene in IC and use UE5 only for transfering and rendering.
I don't know about world creator though. Several years ago I tried importing some landscapes in IC7 from WC, but the details didn't transfer correctly, or were totally lost in the process. It certainly didn't produce the results I am now seeing in Unreal. It could be just me being a noob though.

@@phoenixstudios7520 that's fair. My workflow for landscapes and environmental design requires me not to import directly into UE anyway, haha. I'd start in World Builder to get the landscape, and maybe test out my custom substance shaders. Once I know my landscape has what I want, then I'd export it to Blender to create any additional texture, export that texture for later use, and then move over to AutoCAD where I'd build any architecture. Some of my maps use real world landscapes and buildings, so I would want to use Revit and CADMapper to generate the buildings in our world within the software. Then export to AutoCAD and make additional changes to the buildings before exporting and importing all the assets between my "3ds Max to Blender to 3ds Max" workflow before finally importing into Unreal for the final production. I'll most likely try to import the models for the buildings into Iclone so I can accurately animate and position the scenes, but I'm confident that for the most part, my environmental workflow will be successful.
I can definitely say that my main concern was whether I could use already made animations from Unreal in Iclone, but your comments have relieved me a bit.

@@guywglasses3910 Yes, as I said I haven't done it, but I have seen people doing it. Your workflow is very interesting. I am looking forward to seeing what you make.

when you open iClone for the first time, that checkered floor doesn't appear. when I add a walking animation to my character, it stay in the center of the screen like it's on a treadmill, unlike yours where it moves around the stage. in the first 30 seconds of this tutorial, i'm already lost.

This whole Reallusion channel is more or less completely missing Blender-like step-by-step tutorials where one can actually make a small clip or sequence along with the video guidance. At least I could not use iClone one bit when I first bought it (version 3 I gather).
