I had it on an old vhs and it was my original comfort movie. My mom put it on when I was sad and I would curl up with her would feel loved. I was right there with ya with the weeping.
I used too read and play this too my two sons when they were little . They loved this story . And me being half Cornish. It still brings tears too my eyes now all these later .
Thank you so much for uploading this some years I can never find it or only some of it and I've never seen the making of! Happy Tom Bawcock's Eve to all! 🐟🐈⬛
I read the original book to my son when he was a child (he's in his thirties now!) and we also watched this film back then, too... it was wonderful to watch it again, here. Thank you for making it possible for me to relive those happy memories.
This takes me back to my daughters first Christmas 31 years ago. She had a nasty cold so she and I stayed home on Christmas Eve when the family gathered at grandmas. I rocked her and watched this program. The best Christmas Eve ever.
I saw this in 1994 when I was in bed with a horrible dose of flu. I started crying like a child! Years later we visited Mousehole and I got a signed book and a Star Gazy Pie window decoration.
Love this story., we found a vhs version at a 2nd hand bookstore at Newport Oregon. I am so glad to see this! I guess we have to find a player that works. Maybe
Fantastic story! My cousin sent a copy of the book to me years ago and I loved it. The images of Mousehole and Even Keel are amazing. Thanks for sharing this beloved story.
Yes, that's right. It is priceless to me right now, as I am working on a children's piece about a ships cat from a little harbor town myself -- a very different story, but atmosphere and cat/human interactions in common. This is very beautiful animation and story writing!
Beautiful story and a wonderful video. And what beautifully created illustrations. The music is perfect, as is the narration - just lovely. Thanks so very, very much :) 🐈⬛🐱🐈🌷🌱 (from New York)
If you get hold of the dvd there's interviews with the artist and writer. Beautiful. Although as this is half an hour long, maybe you already know 😂 haven't watched it all yet!
@@joeandrews7329 I don't know what you mean? The artwork is all lovingly done by hand in the size required for the book. It was then animated by some (what would now be considered very crude and basic) early computer animation. That's not what I would consider 'special effects '?
This stunning, beautifully written/illustrated/told story has been part of my life for around 30 years. Having just watched a video relating the death of a young family man, lost attempting to cross the Tasman sea in a canoe, I was minded of Tom’s words to Mouser. It should be he who should go out fishing, not a young man with a wife and young children. Would that he had heeded such a message.
I remember seeing this in school back in late 2009-early 2010 but forgot about this for many years. I asked on Reddit if anyone knew what the story was called, based on my hazy memories and this one pretty matched it (I could still remember the seafaring town and the parade in the end credits, but not the title).
I haven't seen this in 15+ years and for some reason, I just started to WEEP. The nostalgia was so emotionally strong.
Mowser's singing makes me weep. Lovely evocative seafaring type song.
For me it's been almost 30 years. PBS used to show it at Christmas

2009 that would have been!.
@ it was more around 2006/2007 to be honest 😌
