Love the SPB - despite the bad rep it seems I won the Seiko lottery and got a consistently well performing 6R35 out of the box 🙌 - very happy with the watch and great review 👏
I guess it'll find its way to my wrist pretty damn soon too. Man this is a stunning piece! I was wandering if it won't be too small for my 19 cm wrist, but I see it sits quite well on yours.
Been eyeing the artic theme SPB, they do all look very well executed in the case machining and don't tend to let my mechanical watches run too long at a time anyway, like many others with mechanical watches, making the accuracy less of a deal breaker
This is an excellent point, if long term accuracy with no manipulation by the owner was our main aim, we'd not be buying mechanical! Thanks for watching :)
Possessore anche io del Spb147 io ho preso l'abitudine che quando lo tolgo dal polso di notte ,lo metto in verticale con la corona in giù e adesso la precisione è tra i +4/5 secondi al giorno.
Great review! Beautiful watch! I own one as well. The accuracy is better after it got serviced. But I don't know if you experience the dirt on the crystal? It was cleaned before but it came back.
A couple of important notes: the markers are NOT applied. They are stamped through the back of the dial. Seiko does this on all of its divers up through the $6500 SLA 8L55 models. It's so they can't possibly fall off during a dive. Same reason no Seiko diver has an applied logo. I'm not sure what other Seiko divers you've compared this to, but the markers on these are junk, and the lume is crap. The markers are stamped out as one solid block, and then Seiko paints lume over the block in kind of a gooey blob that both looks terrible and is *extremely weak* by Seiko standards. Compared to the watch that came before, the SPB051, the dial quality is *much, much, MUCH* worse. SPB051 had thick high polish steel surrounds on the markers and the lume was deep filled. The markers on that watch are 90% as good as a Marinemaster 300. I have both. The SPB143 markers will get stomped into the dust by a $40 Ali-X knockoff dial with proper C3 Luminova application. Seiko doesn't care about lume anymore. Seiko doesn't sign the crowns of any of its modern divers. The $4600 SLA055/57 don't have signed crowns. I don't know why they don't, but they don't. $500 Presage watches have signed crowns, so it's not a cost cutting thing. They just don't do it.
thanks for the info. i have the spb051 and the marinemaster sbdx017 and i noticed the indices on those two were much better than on the 143.......funny how it gets all the love!
Nice review! Enjoy it with all your heart. I wonder if you ever tried the prospex sne (solar power), im considering it to give to a loved one as a first real watch.
I haven’t yet, but I’m a big fan of the smaller (sized) range of GPS solar range, Astron. Reviews this a few months ago and worth a watch 😊 thanks for watching
Worn the sne as my main watch for a year, and its staying my main watch I wear most the time, I got 7 others, half mechanical (Seiko, Laco, Tissot and Citizen) Can't beat the sne imo. Long Island watches came out with a bracelet for it with solid end links and screwed links. The OEM seiko rubber as well as bracelets are not great. But the sne does great on everything from silicon, rubber, elastic, leather, islander bracelet and anything else I got. Also its slim so goes under any sleeves nicely, as well as makes a great night table watch so see what time it is all night.. Yeaahh... also the one I got is extremely accurate, much better than all my other quartz thats not radio controlled.. i have many opinions on this watch 😂
@@EsbjornWristwatchReviews Great! The same size as mine! I have the opportunity now to take this watch for 853 US dollars. Do you think the price is acceptable today?
@@paveltsepkov1121 I know in Australia second hand now, they are selling for about $1000 AUD. If that is a new watch at that price, I think you’re getting a good deal 🙂
Very different watches I’d say, Henrik is tops and make fun and beautiful watches. This watch is more of a “staple diet” bread and potatoes….can be delicious but not exactly chilli crabs 😆 hope that makes sense somehow 😆😆
Mine had a small hair like piece of plastic in the gear train which stopped the movement! after having it removed it runs about 15 seconds per minute fast
I spent $100 and had my local trusted watchmaker regulate the movement and align the hands. It's now been running at +2 sec a day for the past 6 months and the hands are perfectly aligned.
In my view the first one without the 3 lume pip is the most desirable option then current model like in the video is also fine. The upcoming models have that odd placement of date window and a lot of writings on the dial.
That 3 o clock marker added just to comply with new iso rules killed it for me . So stupid... They ruined the watch... That's why you can get them for so cheap rn

Yep, I was right. I did end up getting a SPB143 a couple of days ago. Stunning piece!
i love wearing mine on erika’s in mirage grey with white stripe

I have my 6r35 regulated to +4/-3 at all positions except dial down, which is running at around +18. Really quirky movement.
Yeah that’s an interesting one!

Too bad that the movement is crap. I had one and it couldn’t keep good time

Tempting to wait I’d say….but who knows what impact it will have on both new and old price 🤔

Might also be easier to get them know at a reasonable price with an updated model announcement
The spb143 is unbelievably heavy, clunky, and bulky. Super uncomfortable to wear. No thanks
Divisive piece for sure, thanks for watching
I don't find it heavy, clunky and bulky at all. But I do fault the movement. Mine was out of spec right out of the box. It's a rip off.
Dude, lose the background music. It's really, really annoying. You don't need it. Just trust your point of view.
