Thank you for the suggestion--I think it would be difficult to advertise the guards if I don't even have a link for anyone to find them! I will add the links to the video t make them easier to find.
I am currently bike less, well except for my dual sport, and have been thinking about the 1100 Rebel or a Kawasaki Z900RS as my next street bike. The Honda just makes so much sense. I'm glad the engine guards have allowed you to feel safer and gotten you out on the bike more.
Last year for my 50th birthday, I got me the 2022 honda rebeld 500 cc,after 20 years of not riding, and it feels great to do so again, so far the only mods I've done is the passenger seat for my wife and cellphone holder, wish to have more time to ride...😢
It's summer in the norther hemisphere now (I assume that's where you are geographically) so I hope you can get out there on some of these nice riding days!
My first bike is a Rebel 1100 DCT which I purchased early summer 2022 (I'm 69 and better late than never).... I started with the small wind deflector like yours but went to the Puig screen especially for the Rebel (dark smoke). It does a way better job at highway speeds, looks good too and is an easy install. Agree that the seat is not comfortable for lon g rides. I bought a Airhawk R Seat Pad Black Small (11" x 11") (FA-CRUISER-RSM) and it is a life saver for long rides. Also bought the Honda OEM saddle bag mounts and bags. I really like how the bags are easily installed and removed for when riding around town.On my first long trip, I learned why many people put highway pegs on their bikes so they can stretch out. I purchased and installed a set of T-Rex Racing 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 DCT Foot Peg Extenders and they really help reduce the sore knees and shins from long rides.
Congrats on getting out there with your Rebel! It's a fun bike and sport at any age. And it seems you have the perfect setup for road trips. I keep hearing good things about the Air Hawks, and I might look into it once I start on longer trips.
@@mostdefjeff_ AirHawk is good for around town too:-). re engine guard, the most important lesson I learned in my bike course was to NEVER use front brake at slow speed with your forks turned. IF you use your front brake when your forks are turned, you will drop your bike every time. Also, the other good advise from my bike course was that if you drop a heavy bike, turn your back to the bike and lift with your legs. One more thing, I have been reluctant to put on engine guards b/c I noticed a few times when cornering hard that my foot pegs touched the ground!! Hasn't happened since I put on foot peg extenders. Happy riding:-).
Engine guards are a must. I bought my Rebel 1100 DCT in June of 2021 and at that time the only engine guards I could find were the T-Rex ones. I didn't really like the looks of them but as I said, they are a must. A couple months ago I hit a deer and without the guards, it would have taken my leg off. With the huge and gaudy T-Rex bars, only one side got bent back about a foot. The smaller ones like you have are good for protecting the lower part of the bike if you fall over but would they help if you hit something that was higher like a truck bumper? Now that I have experienced the protection of the T-Rex bars, I appreciate them, aesthetics aside.
Fully agree with your engine guard choice as the top item for the 1100. I wish I had put it on my bike before my 1st drop. Only thing I would suggest which may sound funny is I added rubber strips to the engine guards where the guards would hit the ground as further protection for the bike/guard. I dropped my bike one additional time and no dings or scratches to bike or the guard. You can find these under Bike frame protection stickers in Amazon and I also added zip ties.
Thanks for the tip on the rubber add-ons! I have seen them on other engine guards and am considering getting some soon. Since I already scraped through the powder coating, I have to do something before they start rusting.
Dear Ms. MostJeff, can you please tell us where to buy those engine guards?? I have ordered 2 sets and taken them to local dealer and he cannot fit them on. I really want these --- help?
They are Lorababer brand and I bought them from Amazon (link below). If you get these and have them put on, let me know how they work out! They are a lifesaver and I can't imagine my bike without them now 😃 🏍 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09H6LW5R2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
That's good to know that it sits you forward a little. I've heard Corbin sits you back a bit. I've been torn between Mustang and Corbin, but the latter is a bit pricey.
Let me know how the baggers go! I would like to add some storage capability too, just looking for the right kind to suit my needs. And for aesthetics of course! But this bike is beautiful with anything we put on it
I also have the Honda rebel 1100 DCT that I got this October. Today I ordered the further foreword seat from Honda. It comes in the diamond pattern or plain the plane was only 50 some dollars. I thought I would try that and see if it makes a little difference before I do my handlebars. I am also five 2 3/4. Currently I am trying to do slow speed turns and get used to the DCT without having the clutch control on a manual model. I watch all your videos. Good job on how far you’ve come.😊
I'll be excited to know how the forward seat works out for you. I also have to sit very far up so I can reach the handlebar, and finally I gave in and got the Mustang solo tripper seat. That said, I think the Rebel is perfect for someone of our height! I feel so much more comfortable flatfooting, at least for my first bike.
I have the 22 rebel 500 abs , I'm trying to keep it all stock , so far I have only changed the seat to the mustang tripper. I probably will get the bigger foot pegs and possibly a windshield
It's the socket for my prosthetic. It has a motorcycle attachment that attaches my arm to the handle, but I've learned to ride successfully without it so will keep the socket until I upgrade the grips.
It's a socket for my left arm prosthetic. I have been successfully riding without it though, so I may end up just putting Burly Brand or heated grips on in the future.
First mod was engine guards too, that was before I dropped it by turning it on while it was in lock position and took off , I went one direction while the bike went the other direction, it was a $300 damage. Broke brake lever, and twisted my foot brake
Wow, that sounds like it was a scary moment! I love my engine guards, but you're right, they don't prevent damage from all drops. I think I put more damage on my bike after the engine guards than before. But still, that peace of mind I have is priceless.Stay safe out there, and enjoy the open road!
They are great engine guards! The brand name is Lorababer and I got them from Amazon (link below). www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09H6LW5R2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Its a great bike. I still need to do engine guards... The only thing I don't like about my Rebel 1100 DCT is the chain maintenance... clean, lube, tension... The bike has too many positives though and I cannot find anything else for sale without a chain I'd rather have more, so I am living with that part. I got the Mustang seat and its a big improvement, but I still use an air cushion too if I am riding more than an hour or two.
Agreed, it's a great bike for the money. How long have you had your Mustang seat? I'm still debating on whether to get that or Corbin. I just have a hard time justifying spending so much on a seat with what Corbin charges. Mustang seems more reasonable by comparison.
@@mostdefjeff_ I've had it a year at least, and I have done many miles on it... 12k to 13k. It's quality and lasts, but I am not sure it is totally worth the price. It is a lot more comfortable than the stock seat, but its still not the most comfortable thing if I do long trips, but adding a cheap air cushion thing I got on amazon helps a lot when I do some long 4 or 5 hour trips. The air cushion made a huge difference. Its just some no name brand that looks like a bunch of little small air pockets, and I wasn't sure it would be comfortable, but it works great. If I had found that before I got the Mustang, I may never have gotten the Mustang. I still stop every 100 miles or so to walk around some. Its always good to get gas more often anyways with the small tank.
The mustang seat is a good one. How does it feel after riding for 2+ hours? I'm curious because I sometimes still feel a little sore after riding that long with the mustang. But I know the stock seat would make me feel even more sore!
@@mostdefjeff_ yes, I’m still a little sore. I mark that down to if I want to ride longer, I need to condition myself by putting in the miles so it doesn’t bother me as much. It’s still going to be a little uncomfortable though. I had a Corbin on my previous bike and it was comfy for long rides, but still would eventually have some discomfort. I don’t think there is any way to be 100% comfortable after 2 hours.
upgraded seat to Mustang and quite pleased except it holds water for a day or more after it rains. Waters sneaks out around the seams when you sit on it for next day and you walk around lookin like you may have wet urself but it's comfortable and looks better than stock seat. Added Burly Brand frame-sliders recently - should have got them when I purchased the bike three crashes ago - but they managed to save the side of the bike the other day when I dropped her in a turn in traffic. Not sure if anyone else has this issue but my DCT will literally randomly shut off around neutral/first gear and it did so mid turn from traffic into a parking lot the other day - it's like it stalls and power kills immediately. Anyhoo - #GoodTImes That now makes 3 crashes and 4 drops total to date. Ugh! You go from cool to totally uncool in an instant when you drop/crash the bike, no? Regarding the seat, yes the stock seat is hard on your ass but they want a fortune for the after market ones. I might get my stock one re-upholstered with more padding.

wait this is your first bike? i need it to know if u recomended for a beginner, i´m 25 right now and very interested on having a bike and this bike it´s one on my top
For myself, this is a great first bike: It has a lot of safety features, it has ride modes that you can use and change as you get more skilled, it's short enough to flatfoot, and it's one of the few automatic motorcycles on the market that's not electric (and thus it's much cheaper). Would I recommend it as a first bike? Generally, yes. I would recommend sitting on it first and really getting a feel for it before purchasing. I made the mistake of buying it sight unseen and it took some time for me to adjust to having such a large and heavy bike. Regardless, I'm glad you're on this motorcycle journey and hope you find the perfect bike for you!
I've heard really good things about Burly brand. I'm hoping that the engine bars will stop me from putting even more dents in my gas tank. Someday soon I want to replace the stock exhaust, that also has some pretty obvious scars from dropping the bike on that side
Hi, also a total noob who has only taken the motorcycle safety course and I’m looking at this bike as my first bike. I’m curious how tall you are? I’m 5’6” and wondering if I might have these same issues.
I'm 5'4" and this bike is perfect for my height. I think at 5'6", you have more choices if you want a bike where you can still flatfoot. The handlebars are of course another issue, but it's still manageable on the Rebel.

I am, though I don't do it for long periods of time. I think if you're on the freeway for long stretches then it's more comfortable than staying on the foot pegs the whole time.
It's the socket for my prosthetic, thinking I would need to ride with it. But I've ridden successfully without it, so now the socket is just part of the decoration...until I upgrade to new grips and remove it completely.
@@zenzen9131 You're right and I have been looking into it recently. The bike shops I've asked don't do dent repair, but said I could go to an auto or collision repair shop. I just want to be sure I'm not going to put any more dents in my bike before getting them taken out!
Agreed! Anything is better than the stock seat. I have a Mustang myself but heard that Corbin is even better. Have you looked into either one? If so, I'd love to know your take. But yes, either will be better than stock. That's one thing I don't like about the 1100, but everything else about it is amazing (imo).
Funnily enough I actually dropped my bike today in my garage while trying to move it out for a ride. But I got it back up! Even with engine guards it's a workout. Whew! What brand is the engine guard and where did ya get it?
The brand is Lorababer, admittedly a name I hadn't heard before buying it, but it's been fantastic so far, and saved my bike numerous times already! I bought it from Amazon, and it looks like they're still in stock if you want to scoop one up: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09H6LW5R2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Are you able to stretch your legs out onto the guards?
I am, though I don't do it for long periods of time. I think if you're on the freeway for long stretches then it's more comfortable than staying on the foot pegs the whole time.
What is that thing on the left grip?
It's the socket for my prosthetic, thinking I would need to ride with it. But I've ridden successfully without it, so now the socket is just part of the decoration...until I upgrade to new grips and remove it completely.
@@mostdefjeff_ Looks cool
Rebel 300 (2017) was the first bike for me. Seat sucked. I’m looking at the 1100 among others. May put a deposit down for the 1100T.
I heard about the incoming 1100T. It looks like a bike better suited for going long distances, and will hopefully have a better seat to match.
Looks like quite a ding on the right side of the tank.
Yes, that day was painful for me mentally. But I'm hoping the engine guards and bar slider will put a stop to me beating up my bike.
@@mostdefjeff_ I'd spend a couple of hundred getting the dent pulled or filled - you won't regret it :)
@@zenzen9131 You're right and I have been looking into it recently. The bike shops I've asked don't do dent repair, but said I could go to an auto or collision repair shop. I just want to be sure I'm not going to put any more dents in my bike before getting them taken out!
The original seat ! Suck!
Your ass be hurting 😂😂😂 after 30mins 😂😂😂😂😂
I know! I got a 2024 1100
Agreed! Anything is better than the stock seat. I have a Mustang myself but heard that Corbin is even better. Have you looked into either one? If so, I'd love to know your take. But yes, either will be better than stock. That's one thing I don't like about the 1100, but everything else about it is amazing (imo).
yes, it could be better. But otherwise I am quite satisfied with my seat.
In most countries learners are restricted to lower powered machines
you should watch utube videos on how to pick up the bike
Funnily enough I actually dropped my bike today in my garage while trying to move it out for a ride. But I got it back up! Even with engine guards it's a workout. Whew! I've seen a few videos of people picking up their bikes, but they can usually grip on two points, whereas I only have the one. Having these engine guards removes that stress and helps me enjoying riding that much more.
레블 멋지네
Pp
If you can't pick up your own bike you shouldn't be riding.
