I’m in the UK. I have the Rebel 500 coming 1st March. Already have the Mustang Solo Tripper seat as so many people have said it’s the standard seat is not comfortable on long rides. Can’t wait! Nice video. Happy New Year
I like the idea this seat holds you in securely. I do tend to move around a bit more than I like. Thank you for making this video; I believe it will be a safer, secure ride. All the best with your riding!
The Mustang seat definitely holds you in a lot better than the stock seat. I found myself sliding around when I accelerated quickly with stock, which was not a good feeling. If you're like me and wanted the comfort and security of an upgraded seat, Mustang is the way to go.
I’ve had Mustang seats on 3 of my bikes. You’re right about break in time for the seat. I think they just get better over time, moulding a bit to your body.
I bought an "Air Hawk" for my BMW 1200 GS ADV years ago, and then when I sold the bike I put the seat away. I bought my Rebel 1100 DCT in Oct this year 2022 and found the stock seat not very comfortable. I finally remembered the "Air Hawk" and tried that, wow, it was so much nicer. It took a while to get the right inflation, but I definitely feel better riding with that on. Many thanks for your content 🙂
I've heard of the Air Hawks, but unfortunately didn't do any research on them before buying the Mustang seat. It's better in the sense that you can buy one and transfer between bikes like you did, which saves hassle and money.
@efremendez They sold the technique and the rights to a medical stuff company years ago. Therefore they had to change their product to an inferior low tec crap and "conviniently" left the old name on it. The reviews 10 or 15 years ago had therefore been much much better If you buy one make shure it is made from neopren rubber and NOT polyurethan. Its gotta be real rubber-like to work. Wild Ass builds some of those but not all of them are made this way.
I still have to use my airhawk cushion with my mustang seat, which initially was a bummer having to cover such a beautiful seat, but I’ve since grown used to the combo. Nice Vid, happy to see more players in the 1100 video space! 🙏👍🏼👏🍻
Improvement over stock for sure, but still felt was “hard” to the point that Airhawk (now Badass Moto makes an affordable option) seals the deal while also raising me about an inch or 2, which is also beneficial for me personally.
Thank you! I'm learning as a I go, and I still have a long road of improvement ahead of me, both on my bike and in content-creation. But I'm enjoying the journey!
I picked up my new Rebel today. I had a 60 mile ride home. My butt was sore after the ride. The stock seat feels like a brick. I will be looking for a replacement immediately.
I've heard Mustangs and Corbins are the top contenders. If you got a new seat, which one did you get? I will say I've heard that either one is much, much better than stock (as I can personally attest to after getting the Mustang seat).
Mustang seats are legendary, and in my opinion, the best money can buy other than something completely custom (which would run you probably around $1000).
@DaroffApFire better than corbin all around? Really? Well how about side support? Corbin:1 Mustang:0 Ability to move? Corbin:2 Mustang:0 More room for legs and arms? Corbin: 3 Mustang:0 Real leather options? Corbin:4 Mustang: 0 Added foam and seat hight? Corbin:5 Mustang: 0 Ok, shurly the Mustang might also have its advantages. But what you stated makes you sound like a snake oil salesman.
On the Rebel 11 put his butt to the test for his seat reviews so we don't have to! 🤣 His video helped me decide on the Mustang. It's also just a good-looking seat. If you get the Mustang you'll be much more comfortable on those longer rides.
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! Now that it's cold outside, I'll have more opportunities to make videos working on Rosa the Rebel while she's stationary
I have the mustang tripper on my 500 and it is night and day from that garbage stock seat. I have only seen one video on the Corbin seat , from life of birch channel and he didn't like it at all. Nice video
Agreed, the upgraded seat makes all the difference. The stock seat might be the only thing about the bike I don't like. I'm glad you're enjoying the Mustang seat!
@@mostdefjeff_ There is too much salt on the roads here in Denmark and it is only between -5 and 10 degrees. I think you are cool and hope that you will continue to tell about your experiences on your rebel
Is it also higher? Looks good. I got 12,500 miles on my Rebel 1100cc and I'm using an inflatable cushion now. I'm lookin for something higher than that.
I honestly don't think it's noticeably higher. Maybe a centimeter or two because it's more dense foam than stock, but I can't tell a difference The Corbin may add more height since it's pretty dense, but it sits you back a bit as well
@@mostdefjeff_ thanks a lot. By the way I love my Rebel 1100cc its a lot of fun here in the Jersey shore. Like to just cruise and listen to some flamenco music in my helmet.
I wonder if a paint less dent repair place could repair your gas tank? Also you didn’t have full coverage insurance? I consider you a role model and more power to you.
Thanks! I talked to a shop, and they may help, but I'm also hesitant to get it fixed at the moment because I don't know if I'm out of the phase of putting dents in my tank (but I hope I am!)
Good night. I really liked your video. Sorry for how I am expressing myself, but I am Spanish, I do not speak English well and I am using the google translator. I can't see your country of origin or where you bought the seat. I thank you for the information. All the best.
How have you found the seat now after a few months? I’m trying to decide between the Mustang and the Corbin. I’m only 5’ 7” with a 30 inch inseam. I don’t really want to be pushed further back after installing 3 inch risers to the bar. I’m not worried about seat height, I’m worried about that C shape or slouching position the Rebel tends to put you in. I want to sit straight and I want to be able to ride for several hours without butt pain of the stock seat.
I will say that the seat itself is very comfortable compared to stock, but I've found that it puts me in a different position on my bike. My legs get cramped more easily than when I ride with the stock seat, I think because it sits me more forward and in one place. With the stock seat, I could slide back more to give my legs a better angle, but the Mustang locks you in place. Corbin will definitely sit you back by an inch or two, while the Mustang will sit you slightly forward. Either way, I hope you find what works for you, and let me know how the bar risers work out. I have 3" risers I'm going to have installed too.
@@mostdefjeff_ Hi and thanks for the reply. The bar risers were a huge game changer for me as I was worried I was going to have to sell the bike due to the uncomfortable seated position the rebel causes. I was always in a C position or slouched position due to reaching for the bars. The risers fixed that. That’s why I fear having my position moved now. I think you will love the risers.
Hi and thank you for your informative video! I just purchased the same Rebel as yours and will likely purchase the Mustang seat. I'm curious about the 3" bar risers and would be great if you made a video on them as well. I'm not too comfortable with the ergonomics as I think my torso is a bit long for the bike and I'm slouching too. My local Honda dealer said they don't install risers as the cables could be impacted. So, I'm curious how people are doing it.
I haven't noticed that it adds any height from the stock seat. Since the Mustang has more cushion, though, it does push my legs out farther, which hasn't been an issue for me. I heard the Corbin seat does add some height, maybe an inch or so.
Hi! I will add the link below, but in essence I went to the Mustang website and searched for my specific bike. It's been great so far, and I think you can even get a passenger seat too. www.mustangseats.com/products/6897/tripper-solo-passenger-seat-for-honda-21-22-rebel-1100
You're reading my mind! I haven't thought about new handlebars per se, but bar risers are the next thing on my list to install. Unfortunately I stripped one of the screw heads trying to get the gauge cluster off, so I have to take it into a shop and thus admit my own defeat. But I think it's better that way anyway because I want to install 4" risers, which would take more expertise than I have.
@@mostdefjeff_ Oh, cool. Will the risers move the handlebars closer to you, or just upwards? I think you may need new cables and brake hose. If so, then yeah, that would be a pretty involved job, and it would be something you would have to work your way up to if you don't have much mechanical experience.
Of course! I got the seat directly from the Mustang site. The shipping was pretty fast and the site was easy for me to navigate. www.mustangseats.com/products/6897/tripper-solo-passenger-seat-for-honda-21-22-rebel-1100?gclid=CjwKCAjwyqWkBhBMEiwAp2yUFpgfZQyH8XLPAmM-SnY5GxJlDKDwVeu3PpfKSyMMyZjTrh1FA42uPBoCCMkQAvD_BwE
Yes, there is a passenger add-on available. The Mustang sells the solo tripper with the passenger seat as well, though it's not quite as large (or comfortable?) as Corbin makes. Corbin allows you to add a backrest, but Mustang just has a square cushion. I think Honda also sells a backrest. Here's the site to where I bought the seat, with the passenger seat at the bottom: www.mustangseats.com/products/6897/tripper-solo-passenger-seat-for-honda-21-22-rebel-1100
Somebody stated below the Mustang was better than the Corbin "in all ways possible". Well, there are many ways! How about side support? Corbin:1 Mustang:0 Ability to move? Corbin:2 Mustang:0 More room for legs and arms? Corbin: 3 Mustang:0 Real leather options? Corbin:4 Mustang: 0 Added foam and seat hight? Corbin:5 Mustang: 0 My list here is of cause no balanced rewiev but simply the other side of the coin wich also deserves to be noted.
Thank you for sharing the other side of the debate. I know there's been a (friendly) war over which one is better, and not having a Corbin myself, I certainly wouldn't be able to speak to that side. I will say one thing I really liked about Corbin and would one day like to look into is the option for a heated seat. That could really have come in handy while I was riding around in Colorado winters.
It might be ever so slightly higher, maybe due to to the extra padding in the mustang. With all the cushion, I think it takes up more space than the stock seat, so my legs have to clear more seat to reach the ground. Do you ride mostly with the Mustang? I tried riding with the stock seat again for a two-hour ride, and I'll say my butt was not happy that day 😅
Bought a Corbin for a different bike. Excellent quality but still won't buy another. Too expensive and while their pans are very solid and sturdy they weigh a ton. Never like adding weight to a bike and I think Corbin goes overboard on the pans per what's needed. I will go with the Mustang or possibly have the stock seat modified with gel or foam. I don't want to alter ergonomics much.
Got the Mustang as well - esthetic and egrgos are solid. Had the seat for approx. 6-8 months so . . . so far so good. Unsolicited suggestion? what a difference the tailpipe makes. That's good to hear your Mustang set is still treating you well 8 months in. That means I made a good choice in seats :) A slip-on exhaust is definitely on my wishlist...but I have to save up for it. I don't know how compatible the upswept ones are, I'll have to see what LifeofBurch says in his video.
