Not even a minute in and you had me cracking up at the "most favorite" pause 😂 I've only just recently discovered your channel but it's quickly become one I look forward to seeing posts on most. Your humility, talent and sense of humor are all well-rounded. Keep being awesome, sir.
thank you so much for everything you do! I live in Brazil and I had the opportunity to watch bob burniquist, sandro dias and other skaters in championships up close, I've always loved whatch skateboarding since I was a child, but watching your videos motivated me to buy my first skateboard at 30 years old. you made me see skateboarding as an art form, and your freestyle and street style motivated me to want to ride like you. today i skated for the third time, all the guys at the rink have been really nice! I already know how to row and turn, but I still can't go down ramps without falling. but that's it I just wanted to thank you for unwittingly taking me down this new path that is slowly taking me out of this terrible depression, thank you very much Jonny Giger!
"Watches, chocolate, cheese and bearings... that's what we make!" I'll think of that, everytime I hear the word Schweiz (don't know how to write it in English but I know you understand) Ps: I love Darios accent
Thanks Jonny for the awesome Vid and that Deck Graphic is so gorgeous!! Much Love 🇿🇦🛹🤘🏻❤️ And all the best for the new year to you and your whole family 💖
Always respect how your respect your sponsor. 7 years is a good run. Stay Rad Sir. You help keep the magic of skateboarding alive. Keep inspiring. For some reason I thought you had a pro Krux truck or sponsorship.
I bought almost the same setup by total accident. I haven't been skating in years and thought about starting again. Found a decent priced 8 inch maple wood deck, found a cheap pair of trucks that happened to be the Ace af1 33 (got both of them brand new for 24 euros, due to a closing down of a local skate shop). Was looking to buy bones bearings as well and was considering buying 52-53 mm wheels. Not sure yet which size I'll get. After ordering the deck and the trucks I found this video and I guess I made the right choice with the board width and the trucks. I was worrying that the trucks might not be wide enough but this vid confirms that they probably aren't. Thanks for the info.
@@JonnyGiger WOW thanks for responding. I’m 38 years old from Upstate NY.. just got back into skating 2 years after 15 years off. Just started landing from and backside kick/heel flips again. Skating stoped me from using drugs. AND YOUR HELPING ME!!
I skated back in the mid-late 80's and we always just used a metal file to cut/wear the edge of the grip tape off the edge of a new board. I'm almost 50 now and really want to try skating again but I might wreck myself.
You should go for it, muscle memory and all, but go easy. I'm in my 40s and barely knew how to do a few basic tricks and started skating recently because my daughter wanted to. I'm learning all new stuff I've never done before 😄
Hey Johnny how much would it cost to get that board setup from you it would mean a lot to me to have one of yours you inspire me so much thank you for your videos and all the cool tricks you do I really want to skate again bc of you Johnny your the greatest
Why a I'm only discovering you now , you got a killer personality and skating skills as well wish I could skate with you I'm just getting on a bored after a 15 year hiatus been learning a lot from thank you for sharing
Dang man, you only JUST started One Piece!! It's my favorite anime, hands down; you're going to love every last minute of it, Jonny. And Demon Slayer is a fantastic 'new' anime, it really captivated me from the get-go. I consider the visuals just a bonus. There's better looking animations out there, the story is great, and I can see it being a short but sweet anime. I love how the artists on it draw eyes, though, there's so much emotion thrown about with them!
Hey Jonny (or everyone else with experience), i just wonder (because i very like Primo tricks) if it is possible (i mean yeah) but also reasonable to add freestyle wheels on a street board? Are there up and downs doing this? I'm a big fan (who's not) of Rodney Mullen, who is doing a mixture of freestyle and street and, judging by the videos, is mostly using freestyle wheels on a custom made street/freestyle board (7.5 x ~30.0ish) with low concave. Thanks!
Hey! You are amazing! 😊 Did you ever tried Film trucks? French brand, affordable, lifetime guaranty and nice to skate ( i am NOT working for film trucks) Thank you for what you bring to skateboarding!
Had to pause your video after you tipped your hat to Kimetsu no Yaiba because I completely agree. It is such an amazing anime! I've only watched two thirds of season one and I just had to put the series on hold because at the time I realized there was still much more of the manga being released. I prefer to binge watch awesome anime once I know it's completed/finished. It's easily in the top 10 anime of the 2010s decade. The Promised Neverland is another good one. Anyways, I could go on about anime all fkn day but glad to hear you enjoy the series as well, dude! EDIT: That is suuuch a gorgeous deck! Mosaic Revive. So does this mean you no longer skate Krux trucks? And Dario.. Such a funny guy. xD
I really hope they reissue the gold mountain board! Been looking for a long while for one, ive blew your ig up for almost a year with no reply about this deck! lol
This entire video I couldn't decide if the motorcycle in the back was real or a toy that was out of focus. Then you moved the couch and I was like "oh!"
I like the graphic, has like Roman like floor art, I dont know what it's actually called. love the color too. your set up is almost my set up lol. I skate indys trucks. but your deck size and wheel size the same I love 53 too and skate 8 decks forever proberbly like almost 20 years.i get told alot to go to 8.5 but never have I dont know why larger decks have become a thing.
Hey man, Amazing set up! Order planned for my birthday in May hihi. May i ask? Just had a HUGE winter break for skateboarding, haven't skated since August 2022. What would you (or one of many lovely people in this comment section) recommend for my first skate sesh tommorow after five months? Start with the basics and leave the rest for next sesh? (shuvs kickflips heels) or jump in where i left off? (halfcab heel, varial flip, tricks off things). Been skating for two years now thanks to you @Jonny Giger❤
Winter break? We used to skate inside or parking garages in the winter. I'd warm up with the easy stuff then once you feel confident move on to technical.
@@afrosheenix Not really possible here in the Netherlands. You'd get kicked out after 2 secs haha. It's been a while since this comment and i'm back on the grind again. Thx for the reply 🙏
oh oh ... old guy anime talk XD Have you watched Jujutsu Kaizen? You really should, based on your comments about creative stories, its also got some top notch animation as well, well worth your time :) Looking forward to see what crazy tricks you put down this year!
Love the setup. I skate a 8.5 enjoi with black magic grip. Krux cannon trucks with monkey nuts hardware and spitfire wheels with swiss bone bearings. Comment your setup in replies
ahh nothing like a full complete that u just assembled, the only bummer is i dont let a board stay pretty for more then 5 minuttes tops and then it looks like its been through hell ahahaha. like when i got a flight deck for the first time an was like this can take a beating and five minuttes after i snapped it ahahaha, i was given a new one cause that wasint suppose to happen they said. but two days later after getting the new one, i snapped it too 🤣😂 im 37 now and i really shouldint go that hard anymore. but i luv sk8 so i just have to, and have to say that the only board who can really handle my beatings for more then a week is Real boards those decks are bloody solid for my style of skating. i do break alot of them but they can for real take more of a beating then most boards can
would you reccomend anyone whos especially prone to ancle injuries (my last one took me off the board for 4 months) to wear ancle braces like that or is there some downside to it? right now i wear one on my injured ancle that i got from the pharmacy but ive been considering switching to something a bit more suited for skating so i can protect both my ancles.
in my case they make sense bc i'm prone to it as well. Further than that i would definitely recommend you to do some ankles strength exercises, they prevent as well and make the injury less severe when it happens i guess. just google or youtube and you'll find some. 5 mins a day will do the job i guess
Can u tell us old people. how about deck size? last time i was skating was in 2001 and we just had small skates boards when was all this size made or when was they made and why a 8 ? I think our size was 7. something can u make a video about that?? thanks
i think back then sizes like 7.5 we're pretty comon. board size depends on your shoe size and what you actually wanna do. my shoe size is 8.5 and it works for me with a board 8.00 to get the more flippy stuff. If you're more into transition might go for an 8.5
Back in 01 it was all about 7.5 or 7.75 and transition skates rode 8.00 but now 8.00 is on the smaller side and most people now seem to skate 8.25 and 8.5 there are people (obviously) who still ride 8.00 still.
Dario is never late or early, he arrives exactly when he needs to.
100%
Yes he always arrives at Dario O'clock, every time!
Omg that's where I was going wrong with my deck. I didn't put wheels on it.
Thanks Jonny!
nah you just need bigger bearings
