It's ridiculous that people need to feel it necessary to burn up history, no matter who the people are or were. It's history, and history demands to be remembered. Thankfully, this video retains history and I hope that it is appreciated. Thank you for this gift.
Yes. I was into exploring local ruins years ago and, if a place is left unattended, at some point you hear that it was burned down or demolished. It's morbid to want to preserve a place that has a notorious history, yet it is history. The Manson story is so long ago now that it's just simply American lore. I know if I could've visited this place as-is, it would not be to glamorize the Manson family, but to just be in an actual place of world renown infamous notoriety.
Glad you got this on film...just watched another video on it from 2017 and this is completely gone...barely even the foundation remains. They were horrible people who did horrendous things, but it’s still sad that people destroyed the place. History is history after all.
Was there in 1992, looked much the same. There were pickled beans and canned jars on the kitchen shelves, sheets on the bed; still in use by various miners/prospectors. The white bus was long gone, but the Pomegranate tree had delicious fruit! Found old rifle shells out back....
6:10 right where those pipes are coming out of the wall is where there used to be a small cabinet. If I'm not mistaken it was in that small cabinet that Charles Manson spent his last moments of freedom. When the ranch was raided by the law he hid in that cabinet and it was only because a small lock of his hair was sticking out of the door that he was located and arrested.

@Ladarion johnson .. Well not so much as give himself over to the cops, but ask them what they want and talk to them like a man. He could just shoot the shit with them and see where that goes ..
Spent many nights in this cabin, with a nice fire, protected from the wind and cold of the desert. Once the mystique and darkness dissipate, the beauty of the desert is revealed. Unfortunately, careless campers burned down a piece of American history, dating back long before Charlie and others drove their bus up Goler Wash. FOG
Thank you SO much for this! Manson lore aside, I think this house is a hermits dream. It seems so cozy , and I can see myself living there with dog or cat, and a whole wack of books. Such a shame it burned down. 🙁 Thanks for preserving it for us. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦 👍

This tour is probably the reason they burnt down the house.they wanted to keep the strangers from coming around.not saying this is true but just saying its a possibility
Yea.... There were a few cockroaches, rats, and snakes living there after the bust.... But after those^ members of the family left, a few sightseeing spectators would show up every once in awhile!
Yes. It was first come first serve. I believe you could stay up to two weeks. It was maintained by the Adopt a Cabin organization I believe. But yeah, it burned down in 2009. Still a cool place to visit.

it's an understandable shame that they did not preserve this little piece of hell on earth for posterity. too bad charlie didn't just express his hatred musically rather than take revenge on the guests of the house where he experienced his personal betrayal. collateral damage in a personal war. it'd be interesting to hear charlie's verdict for charlie seeing as an unaffiliated 8 1/2 month old fetus lost its chance at life. whether he believed in guilt or not, there was nothing more innocent than an untainted creature about to enter life, and having been the catalyst to set the theft in motion, the blame has to be attributed in one direction or the other like it or not. no amount of psychology or semantics can undo that

the History of the cabin goes beyond Crazy Charley they only spent a few months there
It was probably an accident, not intentional.
That and everything else associated with No Name Maddox should be destroyed, and any memory of his murderous deeds should be forgotten.

Gas for both
Gas stove, maybe gas or kerosene refrigerator; or maybe a portable generator.
