0:51:00 F-zero has always been a series about not using your brakes. focusing more on timing turns, boosts, and keeping your racing line clean. Tried playing Gran Turismo, but they feel like youre driving at 2mph, taking turns a 1mph and still sliding off the track due to understeer
Same can't stand gran turismo. Meant to be realistic but seems like you have to stop to go round a corner

Hugo Stiglitz you're a disappointing individual. At least give me something to work with. Making 2 baseless assumptions, its just disappointing. I love responding to brain dead people and troll comments, but youre giving me very little. learn how to drive, alright, ive been driving for years. Stick to mario kart... last i played was Double Dash and i was just as amazing at that game as F-Zero and Every other game I play. But there is an undertone of inner butthurt in your comment, because I dont hold standard racing games in high regards. I do find them boring and regardless of what the IN GAME speedometer says, they feel slow. So if I wanted to drive around pretending Im going speed limit with greased up wheels, i could just play gta4. Altho I was a great driver in that too, but at least there was a fun game that I enjoyed around the driving. I bet you dont even have boost power or snake.

Colin, iRacing is probably the top tier of competitive racing. I love sim racing games like GT and Project Cars but don't have a PC or wheel to run iRacing. iRacing focuses on being as realistic as possible and has a subscription fee of $80 a year to continue to improve it. The sub also pays for servers to race on and keep lag low. There is aheaby modding community that also helps with fresh content. People who love iRacing call GT and Project Cars "simcade" because they think those can be fun but are too casual like arcade games. People who love GT and Project cars call something like Driveclub a "simcade." There are sim games and there are games that are basically real driving. If Mario Kart is a 1 in realism, Need for Speed is a 3, Driveclub is a 5, GT is an 7, Project Cars is a 9, Assetta Corsica a 10, then iRacing is of the charts at 15/10 or 20/10 in realism.
It seems stupid to make a out X our of 10 scale, but iRacing is just on another level, people almost don't call it a game.
Everyone considers all other sim games as stepping stones up to iRacing.
However, every sim racing game has competitive communities of their own. GT spawned GT academy which took people who were amazing at GT and put them in real racecars to compete against each other and eventually race in real race cars. Some of those guys continue to race real racecars with real sponsorships.

Colin, here's a tip for the 3d levels in the old blood. make sure to use the map (down on the d-pad) to help keep track of ur progress. it's such a cool throwback, but going through the levels is a bit tedious. especially when u can mow down enemies.
I think the reason the fighting game community is bigger and more well known is because it is more fun to watch a fighting game over a racing game.

Greg nailed the pin on the head, I grew up with PSone and find Shovel Knight one of the hardest games I have ever played.

The game rj de vera was playing in fast and the furious was a gran yurismo game. Not sure if it was 1,2, or 3 but i thinkn he was driving on the midfield track or trial mountain. I remember him crashing lol
Fellas, the latest Guilty Gear game found the perfect marriage between polygons and sprites. They use cel shaded polygons and made them animate as if they were sprites, and honestly they did a helluva job because you cant tell the difference. They literally look like high res sprites and its fantastic. Not a big GG Fan but I bought the game on ps4 just to marvel at the art direction. That's a style I think street fighter should have adopted by now. Also...Colin, how dare you shit on Fei Long and Dudley...LOL. But I understand your point. Those two specifically are beloved characters though. The ones people hate on more are the ones introduced in the SF4 series.

Dying Light is a great game, but sprinting didn't work all the time on PS4. That was frustrating.

I used to do pixel games in the vein of megaman many years back, so I know how much time it takes to animate characters and such. Sprites have kinda died off for practical reasons. But I am curious as to why a 2d sprite can't be hooked up to a 3d rig, and if specific animations need it you can go in and do some manual work? Like basic standing or running animation can be done with a rig and you'd just have to maybe go in and set parts to the foreground and animate foot bending and what not. Or maybe my ideas already are a thing. But it seems like it would be cheap that way. Or maybe if you made a 3d figure and like maybe compress it and degrade it so that it looks like a 2d sprite, idk

TV Motorsport stills are fairly indistinguishable from Race Game / Sim "Replay" stills nowadays. Far as I can see.
when you guys are tallking about the look of games being realistic. They could make it look like reality but we cant break the uncanny valley feeling. The animations will look and feel empty and its not a good time, it doenst work. As humans we like knowing what we are looking at isnt real because it makes us uncomfortable to be unaware of the truth of what were are looking at and it will upset us as viewers.
The first 3 halo books were absolutely amazing but the best game novel in my opinion would have to be the warcraft: war of the ancients trilogy. Those 3 books were some of the best novels iv ever read in my life and iv read A LOT of books. They to me are an absolute must read to any one, the were like the hobit/ lord of the rings books on steroids. I constantly re read them ever other year or so. They're so well written that u dont need to be knowledgeable of the warcraft games to enjoy them. I highly highly recommend them to anyone. Especially if u like the warcraft lore.

dammit just as i type it Tim says he read the first one.
I wish i could say the same about my experience with Journey, but i honestly didn't care that much about it. It was a cool little experience, but i could never give it a game of the year award. Gameplay is key to me in a video game, and journey didn't do that for me. I get why people love it, but it isn't for me.
