Thank you for that beautiful reaction! I had a hunch you'd like it. First, the actual story behind the lyrics is quite tragic. The song, in part, was inspired by the apparent suicide pact of two girls in Wisconsin. They stepped in front of a train together. The evidence strongly suggested it was intentional. Reportedly; one was a big fan of, and was listening to, Porcupine Tree when she died. Imagine having that tragic event associated with your music. Gavin Harrison is the drummer. I found PT while looking for Gavin Harrison content. What I found was possibly the greatest band that almost nobody has ever heard of.
Awesome 😎 thx for your reaction! You guys are so wonderful. Porcupine Tree is amazing live. I hope their latest tour was recorded and will have a Blu-ray release sometime this year. Then we can look forward to you reacting to that…lol Have a great day ☀️ 😊🍀
Saw Porcupine Tree at their first ever gig at the Nags Head, High Wycombe, December 1993, after they finished I asked the bass player which one are you Wilson or Duffy? he said neither I'm Colin Edwin. Seen them a few times, awesome band. For your info Steve Wilson does the vocals for the opening and slower parts, John Wesley is singing the "Way Out of Here Parts"
This is a brilliant piece of music based upon a sad story, as the most moving art often is. Once you enter the PT wormhole, you might be lost forever- but that is not a bad thing. I could go on all day about Steven Wilson (band leader, lyricist, lead guitarist etc.) and PT, but, lucky for you, I won’t.
This about a teenager that took is life when was 19 years old because, of course, didn't has the support to take all of what it is to deal with the growing up... I put my hands in the fire, a teenager that lived in a disfuncional family, with no support and no friends, because I'd u don't have the opportunity u don't create bounds with friends ... So she was alone I believe ... And what I read, was that.

Her name was Arielle and she actually ran their myspace account.
Best band ever!
FOR REAL. I love Steven Wilson a ridiculous amount
The keyboard player is Richard Barbieri of the 80s band Japan.....
My favorite band! The musicianship is top tier. Thanks!
Everything by Porcupine Tree is musical perfection. Geniuses.

That drummer is the one and only Gavin Harrison, check him out playing with the band “Pineapple Thief” and “King Crimson “.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Gavin Harrison on the drums.

On album version can anyone hear what he sings between 5:02 - 5:15?
