My biggest hope would be that Unrivaled does succeed and allows the women to get that secondary income here instead of having to play overseas and those seasons causing issues with their WNBA careers. Plus, competition is a good thing in business. If it makes the WNBA grow up, that would be great for everyone.
No. No. No. The league starts in January up against the NFL, NBA and NHL. There is a reason the WNBA starts later in the year. Lexie Hull had just over 5 points a game last season. Rae Burrell from the Sparks was just under 6 points a game. Angel was shooting 11% from 5 feet to 9 feet under the basket, amongst the worst in the league. 80% of these players are mediocre to say the least. This league is doomed to fail.
True...they're wishing on a star and selling dreams like a mf. 3v3 full court!? 🤔 No Clark, no dunks, just free throws, layups, and open shooting practice. You know how tired they'll be playing 3v3 full court. Not an ounce of defense will be played.

I’ve always said this is an AFL/ NFL play. Build up and fund Unrivaled, gets lots of investors with equity, switch to 5v5 and sell/merge with WNBA/NBA. 3v3 is not worth watching long term.
Quality (??) of play will necessarily suffer from lack of talent. Unravelled is borrowing 36 players from the W for 10 weeks. No problem short term but any co-play (as in merger) would short the W those 36 players plus another 36 to fill out rosters for existing Unravelled teams. Plus, another 36 to fill voids in the W. Bottom fishing for replacements will suck.
@ I didn’t say it will work but I’m thinking the goal is to apply enough pressure to force the W into some kind of merger. Like the USFL tried with the NFL. It’s a long shot at best but money talks.
I kind of hope the Unrivaled League makes a go of it. Most commenters on here are pretty negative about their prospects but it could be sort of fun and I like an underdog, he was my favorite cartoon as a kid. And maybe Caitlin Clark will decide to play someday, she would really shine in full court 3 v 3 where her passing and ballhandling would stand out.
Would Actually be hilarious if Unrivalled becomes more profitable than the WNBA & they all just make Bank over there and have fun no drama just Hoop like it should be🙏
There is a reason the WNBA salaries are low and the WNBA lost $40M last year. I am betting it lasts a year or two and goes bankrupt. For a sports league $35M is pocket change. If they expand out into other cities you now have travel costs, game and practice facilities, staff, a professional management team don't underestimate the costs.
I’m kinda glad Caitlin isn’t playing because I have doubts about full court 3v3. I hope it succeeds so women don’t have to go overseas to make a living.
Different setup and format than the Olympics. These will be four quarters, with each game filling a one hour time window. Full (slightly smaller) court.
Also, I think Paige is being “Pressured” into this by someone she should not have to worry about being forced into something that might not be best for her. I mean she has had had a few injuries already in her career and she isn’t even pro yet, for her to go from this college season, the draft, into her rookie year and then right into the Unrivaled season without leaving any time for her body to rest and recover is just not smart at all. Look how beat up CC was and Paige will probably go #1 and even though she has a step mom that is of color she is still white like CC, she is going to get beat up too…just doesn’t make sense for her
The truth is most new pro sports leagues fold. And without the top players (Clark & Wilson) not playing and teams not being attached to cities...it's not impossible but it looks like it's going to be an uphill climb.

I have been a WNBA fan and later a NY Liberty season ticket holder from the beginning and the should be concerned. The funding for the Unrivaled is unbelievable as I hope that the hype is matched by the pageantry and performance of the players. I cannot wait for the games to begin and wish them good luck.
"small sided" games with reduced numbers of players have always been a great way to learn soccer or basketball and get timing down for QBs and receivers in football. While these 3v3 Unrivaled players will not necessarily be LEARNING the game since they are no longer young players, there should be plenty of action and the bigs will have a lot more room to work in the paint with four fewer players on the court. I don't know what you mean about "real" basketball, there should be great passing and shooting and drives to the hoop and maybe dominating bigs if the guards get them the ball. Everything is there from the game.
Along with WNBA big salaries should be a clause that they can not play anywhere else while under contract with a WNBA team. So take the salaries the WNBA has now and add to that the unrivaled average salary for every WNBA player. Now WNBA players get the unrivaled money and only have to play in the WNBA. NO need to go elsewhere. Now I would leave the European Leagues available should a player choose to do that. Just no other pro league in the U.S.

A lot more visibility for sponsors with the WNBA. More games means more exposure opportunities. If they can equal the salaries unrivaled is done. If they can't compete with salaries the W will fold.
I hope your talk went well Rachel! Would they have raised as much if they hadn't teased that Caitlin would be playing? While that was great marketing, how many investors really expected Caitlin to be playing and have been told lies? That would not be good for trust and some investors may not invest again. $70 to $214K is a lot of money to earn. How many people earn that? I would have to work 4 -11 years to get close to these. You just have to live within your means. I don't really think anyone earning this much needs a second income (particulalry the top bracket), but $222K is great and I'm really glad the women have a second source of income without having to be away from home too long, and without having to be on the road as well, to play their games. How many years can a player expect to play in the WNBA? 10 maybe? So over $2M earned. A lot of people would have to work 100 years to finish up with that salary. And that's without winning anything, without endorsements, without investments (good on JuJu) and without a job after your playing days. Wow! So, approx $8M is going on player salaries. How much to the winners and runners up? Coaches salary? Officials? You'd have to think that Coaches and Officials are being paid a little bit more than a WNBA season pays them. Are costs covered this year? I agree with some of the other people here, the WNBA has a lot to be worried about within the WNBA without blinking an eye about Unrivalled. I really hope they focus on themselves in 2025. No match fixing, no highly dubious officials decisions (even after scrutinising the video replays), no biased President. I hope they work on the racism within the WNBA, the petulant jealousy of some people. I hope they welcome great players without thinking they will hurt the feelings of the current players. I hope officials will give fouls when other players are deliberately barged to the floor when they don't even have the ball. It's time the WNBA had a "sin bin" for players committing these types of fouls and sensd them off for 5 minutes, or just send them off for the rest of the game. And that's just the stuff that we can see.
@@Willard-l7t I mean, it’s not lol, plenty people watched women’s basketball before CC.. that’s not to say that viewership and ratings haven’t skyrocketed with her involvement but to say outright that nobody watches women’s basketball without her is just not true and more than anything is just a sign of how casual a fan someone who says that is

I think history could repeat itself. The W outpays in salaries over unrivaled. Let unrivaled do like that other MENS LEAGUE the ABA build a following in their city. Then after a couple seasons combine the two Leagues. TADA!
No large business can exist without a business plan. From everything I've seen the Unrivaled League doesn't have one. At the university where I taught they would say the League was doomed from the start. Go to any bank and ask for a loan to start a business and the first thing they want to see is your business plan. The business plan acts like a stack of dominoes. Tap the first one and the rest will fall. The Unrivaled dominoes are scattered and lying face down.
Did anyone at your university ever explain that just because you as an outsider don't know what their business plan is doesn't mean they don't have one?
@@jbrock8596 Most business consultants are outsiders. Large startups can't exist without them. Just the fact that they spent so much time hinting that they had Clark means that they didn't have a plan in place. Part of their plan was based on hope.
That unrivaled math is funny. There is a big difference paying 33 (36) players 222k as opposed paying that much to the entire WNBA league that isn't turning a profit. Each team has what 12 players on the roster? If unrivaled paid the same to a WNBA, team, they would only have 3 teams. And that don't even start to cover all the other operating cost. while the salary looks great from a pr standpoint, it's all fools gold.
They could be more successful it wouldn't be hard as the W we know losses money, I know they have a TV deal but they need people to watch it, it's good they're focusing on the younger ones to build it, Caitlan Clark could still join I don't think the timing was right I think she's building herself up for an even better season in the W next season
How long will the 35m last. I hope women’s basketball succeeds. Men’s basketball viewership is also declining so maybe this new format could be more consumable.
Unrelated to the video, but Rachel you played college basketball what is your response to the announcement that Junior college players will still be eligible to have four years of eligibility after they complete two years of junior college? I think this is incredibly unfair to high school recruits imagine you are a 17 year-old Stepping on a college campus trying to compete with what would be considered a 20 year old college freshman.
If Unrivaled expands to five on five and franchises its teams and can raise pool of capital sufficient to sustain its operations, including recruiting new talent and becomes, in essence, the new W with the demise of the W as it currently exists and, in the process, put to bed its racial and sexual hang ups, it could be a new and better frontier for professional women's basketball.
So U3x3 raised $35million in revenue with 34 to 36 players so circa $1million per player for 44 regular season games, averaging 4 games per week over 11 weeks. So players getting circa 22% of revenue (before merch sales). These same players say 50% of revenue should be paid to them when playing for wNBA for 44 regular games in 2025 solely based on NBA. Players in the wNBA get circa 17% of revenue currently (before merch sales) and before TV deal hike in 2026? Reality over delusion IRL. wNBA is smaller slice of a bigger pie that could be 10x larger than U3x3 in a very few years if the wNBA players don't cause an implosion. It is akin to comparing 5x5 soccer and 11x11 soccer, different global audience size. U3x3 will likely always have a smaller audience for many years to come. I didn't know 3x3 BB was a professional thing until watching CC.
To raise money is not the problem - but getting people to watch that's the issue - no one watch the wnba for 20 odd years and only survived due to the NBA - so will these backers be there for years ahead
The free market will decide if they stay or go, money doesn’t grow on trees and investors don’t flush money down the toilet, if money doesn’t come in, they will abandon this endeavor, if it succeeds, the WNBA fixes their business model and improves their product, regardless its good
Clark will never be treated as the face of the W, they'll find anyone every year to artificially push like they did with Reese. Unrivaled will never take her in reality either. The same jealous women are there. Investors would have flocked like mad and those salaries would be even higher but they're all fine with accepting crumbs instead of cake.
I’ll believe Unrivaled plays games Jan 17 2025…I haven’t heard big news from big media on this league…and it’s 3 on 3…players in WNBA are boring, can’t really play well…if not for Caitlin I would never watch WNBA
Do we think 3 on 3 basketball will be something the fans of Basketball will really want them to replace true 5 on5 basketball. And for players and fans of the sport of basketball other than the money grab they had dreams of playing in a professional league not some 36 player gimmick
Hi. The reality show will not be a ratings getter, but might help to show the players in a more favorable way than what happened this past year in the wnba. Clips will get around and we'll see what happens then. If they run it like a professional sports league I think they have a chance to match the wnba, but that will take time because it's not traditional basketball. If it's about issues and platforms they don't have a chance. If it's about trying to win the game they might be ok. The rule enforcement and player protection will be important. I haven't seen the rules yet. It seems those are important and should be released by now.
Brink is the best player in unrivaled by far who won’t even be playing lol. That’s doesn’t sound to good but hopefully it it’ll keep the players from have to go overseas to supplement their incomes.
Will the Free market keep it running though, thats the question. Everything is up to the free market, if people come in to watch and it flourishes, then good and if people are like this is trash i don’t want it, also good. I like whatever the free market (the customers) decide if they like it, great, if they hate it, great. Whatever happens happens, if they succeed, the WNBA fixes their crap and more people come in, thats good for everyone
This is just my own opinion.I don't see 3x3 as a great thing to see. I prefer the regular game. By the way, you must know a lot but one vlog said CC is playing only one more season. Is that true.

The future is bleak. I have tried watching women's basketball and nothing makes Caitlin Clark look greater. It's rough to watch.
I want it to succeed but I just find 3v3 so uninteresting :(
Lmao. What?? This will burn itself up. No one watches women basketball without Clark. Heck, today people barely watch NBA.
Where's my popcorn? Lol
Corny
@@Tac0maAr0ma Still true
@@Willard-l7t I mean, it’s not lol, plenty people watched women’s basketball before CC.. that’s not to say that viewership and ratings haven’t skyrocketed with her involvement but to say outright that nobody watches women’s basketball without her is just not true and more than anything is just a sign of how casual a fan someone who says that is
@@Tac0maAr0ma I'm not saying no one watched, but I am saying very few people cared for 20 however many years and it's boring without her. Oh I forgot to add lol...You kids love to throw an lol in every comment.
@@Willard-l7t well, the original commenter did in fact say that “no one watches women’s basketball without Clark” which is who I was replying to lol not you. Also, women’s basketball may not have been exciting to you or other casual sports fans but there has been plenty of excitement around it for quite some time now, primarily on the collegiate side I’d argue but over the last 10-15 years the WNBA fandom has undeniably gained traction but I wouldn’t expect someone who likely only started paying it any attention because of CC to recognize that. Lol.
I think history could repeat itself. The W outpays in salaries over unrivaled. Let unrivaled do like that other MENS LEAGUE the ABA build a following in their city. Then after a couple seasons combine the two Leagues. TADA!
No reason they can’t work in tandem.
What about injuries? How will that be?
bless you
A different, shorter runtime format might help viewership in today’s short attention span market.
@7:04 - Bless you, RAD!
No Caitlin. No Aja. Good luck!
Oye 😂 you constantly keep pulling up the of shoulder jersey😂
No large business can exist without a business plan. From everything I've seen the Unrivaled League doesn't have one. At the university where I taught they would say the League was doomed from the start. Go to any bank and ask for a loan to start a business and the first thing they want to see is your business plan. The business plan acts like a stack of dominoes. Tap the first one and the rest will fall. The Unrivaled dominoes are scattered and lying face down.
Did anyone at your university ever explain that just because you as an outsider don't know what their business plan is doesn't mean they don't have one?
Except for that whole already having multi year media rights and sponsorship deals in place thing. Oh yeah, that.
@@jbrock8596 Most business consultants are outsiders. Large startups can't exist without them. Just the fact that they spent so much time hinting that they had Clark means that they didn't have a plan in place. Part of their plan was based on hope.
🙌🙌🙌 Wish them them best
That will change when the new media, CBA deal in 2026. 2 billion dollar 10 year deal
35 million...where will that lead them...
they should'nt be to worried unless they go to 5 on 5
Raises millions and nobodies going to watch the product 🤷♀️
Hello gorgeous Rachel, be safe and God bless you and your family always, advance Merry Christmas, with love from the Philippines ❤❤❤
How long will the 35m last. I hope women’s basketball succeeds. Men’s basketball viewership is also declining so maybe this new format could be more consumable.
So glad CC is not doing this
I don't think it be held during wnba season isn't it just for them to do something during the off-season ?
Yes. January to March.
Sounds like they have the business end figured out. Too bad the game part looks bad. They should use a smaller court for one thing.
They are.
I would not shed any tears if the current iteration of WNBA was to dissolve, it really seems mismanaged
good luck with your TED type talk.
😂😂😂😂😂
Big 3 and Ice Cube will never back Unrivaled. 😂😂😂
The potential for the two Leagues to combine should be a goal of unrivaled. 🤔😉
I’ll believe Unrivaled plays games Jan 17 2025…I haven’t heard big news from big media on this league…and it’s 3 on 3…players in WNBA are boring, can’t really play well…if not for Caitlin I would never watch WNBA
Sneeze was awesome
Do we think 3 on 3 basketball will be something the fans of Basketball will really want them to replace true 5 on5 basketball. And for players and fans of the sport of basketball other than the money grab they had dreams of playing in a professional league not some 36 player gimmick
Let's see TV ratings, it will tell us a lot. It wouldn't be the first league that bombed. But who knows.
I’ll believe it when I see it
This is just my own opinion.I don't see 3x3 as a great thing to see. I prefer the regular game. By the way, you must know a lot but one vlog said CC is playing only one more season. Is that true.
really hope your next video is covering trinity rodmans call her daddy interview where she destorys her deadbeat father dennis rodman
It's 3x3. Not. Popular.
35 million won't keep the lights on 😅😅😅does everybody work for free
Algorithm comment. Woof woof 😊
They will all lose money, see that they have no draw, and hate Caitlin even more.
