    From Elves re tyre to frame clearance: Different 32C tires have different specs, like the Continental 32C tire size can reach up to 35C width. A Continental 28C tire size reaches up to 30C or 32C.

      Well ok Elves but who the hell buys a super sleek aero frame only to fit it with 30+ mm tyres ?! Not 20 years ago everybody looking for a bit of speed was rocking 23mm tubular rock solid shit under those. So ok, things are evolving but we're buying a speed bike here ffs, not your usual dickhead's urban SUV.

    "Full carbon fork" historically meant that the fork blades and steerer were both carbon as opposed to the carbon blades being carbon and the steerer tube being aluminum. That's an industry standard claim. Elves saying it is spec'ed with a full carbon fork is true according to the industry standard definition. No correction needed.

    Looking at the '22 UCI Vanyar atm. They have a UK distributor now which streamlines the whole process. Talking about hub noise. Just got some mavic wheels for the hardtail for gravel use. Now I love mavic hubs, their bearings are so smooth and have lasted longer than any I've known in 30yrs of cycling. But the hubs are so damn quiet. Had to buy a bell for the cycle paths! 😀

    What an awesome, informative review! Interestingly, the steerer tube on my Falath Pro (it finally arrived after 6 months!) looks completely different. Fiberglass inside is black, and 0.1mm thick at most. In fact, in the reaming process it was machined away completely in many spots and carbon is peeping through. I haven't seen any delaminations either, although only on the bit I cut off, I don't have a way to check that non-destructively.

    I really want one of these frames! It’s everything I’m looking and looks mean af.
    The only issue is that 25mm setback seatpost. It doesn’t allow me to get my saddle as far forward as I need. I’ve asked Elves if they’ll consider making a 0 setback post but haven’t heard anything yet.
    Surely I can’t be the only one needing that? It could be perfect for a TTer. The geometry is actually quite comfortable and I think the descending confidence also comes from the slightly slacker head angle than usual with aero bikes.
    Nice review Cam 👍🏻

So I did have bodyweight mind but I didn't want to add an extra 30 seconds to the vid explaining. Perhaps you should log your weight or total bike/rider weight for these tests.
    I have been thinking about downsizing frame size too,have looked at some 52,53,54cm frames to shorten the reach but many have too low a head tube for me.
    This looks closer to endurance geometry such as Look 765 Optium but with that high and wide top tube.
    You appear similar dimensions to me,I am 178cm,88cm. inseam,about 77kg.

    Yō bud quick tip that helps me with climbing with the girthy top tubes it some body glide on the inner thigh/knees and some on the top tube as well, goes on clear no fuss with the paint so it won't stick to you. the other thing is the long stems really effect your side to side out of the saddle but aero/climb are going to have compromises. i have a 90mm stem and it's manageable-ish.

  • @DeStraatz
    @DeStraatz 10 месяцев назад +3

    Does the rear wheel/frame interface impact aerodynamics, yes, but not as much as you think. The air is already so turbulent in this region, so lamiar flow to be controlled is limited, plus there is wash from the rear wheel and legs. Closing the gap by shortenig the chainstays would (not by much) change the handling, but moreso compliance. Closing the gap by adding material would only add weight for negliable aero gain (look at the new tt shiv for example).
    Plus having more space allows the rider to use different tyre widths, plus limits scratching from stones or other crap that gets stuck in the rear tyre.

    The Falath Evo is a straightline missile and feels every bit like the superbike that it is. My Specialized Allez Sprint feels very twitchy and hard in comparison. The value is off the charts too, here in Europe, the frame and handlebar combo is just over half the price of the similar Winspace T1550.
    That being said, I do have some stuff I'd like to see changed. Like improved heel clearance at the chainstays, zero setback seatpost option and revised geometry for the larger sizes, with longer top tubes and shorter seat tubes. But overall, the Falath Evo is awesome if it fits.

    I was just wondering why you don't use your chineese bikes in your other content? You build up this great beast of a bike and end up using the "standard everybody knows about" BMC in the, I would say "not bike-build-relatet" content. Is there a reason for this? Why didn't you use this bike in the "All-Time-Best-Power..."-Video for instance?
    Still great and inspiring stuff with the chineese bikes!

    Hey Cam, just wondering if you have ever looked at Wiggles house brand wheel Prime and their new Primevera range?
    They seem like great value, Wiggle are pretty damn easy to deal with if things go awry and how they stack up against these Chinese brands.
    Interested in your thoughts, great video. Top work mate. 👍🏼

      I had a pair of Prime wheels and had used them for about 11 months before my mechanic told me there were multiple cracks in the carbon rim and it was unsafe to continue riding.

    Would be good to see any rider weight differences between the climbing efforts vs speed differences

      I have put on 1KG since that series (back focused on work now) and I loaded the Elves with a 750ml water bottle (1.2KG), which takes me back to average weight of 79.5kg. So I did have bodyweight mind but I didn't want to add an extra 30 seconds to the vid explaining. However, you're right, I should start tracking weight irrespective or maybe not bother comparing to previous runs anymore. Perhaps there's too much grey. Cheers, Cam

    Hey Cam you downsized to 52 and I noticed your saddle is slammed forward. Is the frame still too long for you?

    • @CamNicholls
      @CamNicholls  10 месяцев назад

      No the other odd part to Geo is that the reach doesn’t really change that much from a 52 to a 56 so I went 5mm additional reach than normally by going a 120 stem on a 52. Hence pushing the seat forward

      @@CamNicholls oh you are right! Falath 2022 also has that and the steep offset made it worst lol. I also moved forward my saddle by 5mm

    Thanks for sharing. So if you are 176 cm and went for a 52 instead of a 54cm frame. Does it means that a 173cm person like me needs to go from a 52 to a 50cm frame?

      I'm the same height. I think that's what he is saying. He is 179cm and rides 54-56cm...so we would be 1 size below him at 50cm for this bike.

    Oh by the way have you had a chance to try the ICAN A9 aero bike? I'm so interested in how it compares to winspace, yoeleo r12 and propel ...

    • @lestonycyclistone
      @lestonycyclistone 10 месяцев назад +1

      I rode Yoeleo r12 and now having this Falath Evo. R12 will be more comfortable but stiffness soft compare to Falath Evo, when go thru bump can obviously feel the front fork more stiff . Even during climb Evo more responsive then R12. For me , Evo not over stiff as rock but with my current amateur leg its feel stiff n responsive during sprint n climb compare R12 . R12 suitable for endurance and peloton ride but Evo i feel more faster and breakaway faster.

    Haven't you lost weight since you benchmarked the other bikes? Your faster time on this bike could be attributable to improved fitness, right?
