Jardin de Penthes Ch. de l'Impératrice 18 Geneve (Domaine de Penthes)
What works, and how, in implementing the primary health care (PHC) approach in health systems transformation?
This evidence is instrumental in the efforts to materialize the Astana Declaration and to strengthen political momentum towards universal health coverage (UHC).
The best evidence is generated through implementation research, country case studies, leadership-oriented training, and partnerships.
Despite progress made to generate PHC intelligence that is contextualized and policy-oriented, countries and regions need innovative ways to learn from each other about the PHC approach.
Various global products, resources and initiatives have been developed to respond to this need, including:
Implementing the Primary Health Care Approach: A Primer - global evidence on PHC implementation and a guide on the “how” of PHC, to help policy-makers make the case for investing in primary care, deliver change in practice and move towards UHC.
Primary Health Care Country Case Study Compendium - a global web-based search engine for finding and filtering PHC country case studies.
Leadership Course on PHC: A comprehensive 80-hour course delivered through a digital learning platform equipping leaders to drive PHC-oriented health system transformations
These products will be presented during a hybrid side event of the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva on Monday 27 May, organised by the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Health of Spain.
Join us in person or online to discuss innovative experiences in implementing the PHC approach, exchange practices for cross-country capacity building, and learn about the proposed Coalition of PHC Partners.
The event will take place in English, with live Interpretation via Zoom in Spanish and Russian.
