    Last episode, you saw us tear down what looked like a pristine 1972 Chevy C10. Well once we peeled back that outer layer we found a whole ton of problem rust that we had to cut out. So now we have a Chevy cab full of holes that need to be plugged up. The biggest holes in this C10 though are the floor and the firewall! The floor is the easy part. We got an entire replacement floor from Auto Metal Direct. The firewall though? Not as simple. It's going to take a lot of templating, cutting, and mocking up to get a new clean background to our engine bay. But by the end of the episode, we have all of our major just spots removed, we have a custom bead rolled firewall and we're ready to start building a transmission tunnel for our 1972 bagged and supercharged LS C10!

Most of the body work that I do tends to be with street signs and license plates. Definitely not on the same level. I see a rust hole and just figure out how to fill it. It seems that people with your skills see the shape of the metal before the rust ate it.

      Definitely not out of the question! We just had to cut so far into the floor because we're sitting this C10 down on the frame. We're also taking some extra steps to make sure these rust spots aren't headaches for the customer further down the line. If we were doing a build for ourselves, there are things (like that cowl) that could be left alone for a little and be addressed further down the line!

      Definitely! The hard part about this one is that not everything is getting cut into and not all that paint is getting stripped off. So it's a balance between cutting it all out and finding other ways to mitigate those issues so they're not headaches in the future!

    Just as I thought, there was more rust underneath. Is there a weld-through primer that is used on the metal that is sandwiched in between, or you're not worried about it rusting? Some serious skills were on display in this episode.

    • @SalvagetoSavage
      @SalvagetoSavage  10 месяцев назад +2

      We sanded down as much of the rust as possible, and everything that gets boxed in usually gets hit with a rust inhibitor or weld through primer to make sure that rust doesn't spread. Thanks so much for always supporting the channel!

    • @SalvagetoSavage
      @SalvagetoSavage  10 месяцев назад +1

      There are companies like AMD who have the ability to manufacture parts like that in bulk and would be much better suited for that task. Also, for parts like the cowl, it's hard to know how much will be rotted out and how much actually would need to be removed, so for us, it's almost easier to keep as much of the original truck as possible and patch in what we need to be repaired!
